I was hit by a drunk driver this weekend and it totaled my car. I’m financially responsible so I had plenty in my savings account for a down payment on a new car (while waiting for insurance to get its stuff together). I was driving a bit of a jank-mobile before because I’m the type of person who would rather save money and pay in cash rather than finance anything (I was on a timeline to buy a new car in the next 2-3 years but this accident threw a monkey wrench into my plans). But, no biggie, my bills are low enough to add an additional payment in without stressing myself and I got approved at an awesome rate. I found a 2 year old car with all the bells and whistles and I love it!

Yesterday, as I dropped off my daughter at my ex-husband’s house, she was raving to him about our new fancy car. He looks at her and says, “I don’t think that’s your new car, it’s a rental”. It was worth every penny to look at him and say, “No, she’s right, I bought it”.

He still lives with his mom and can’t drive. It may be petty, but sometimes it feels so great to flex on him and let him know how capable I am and how great my life is as a single woman.
