Exactly. Baby girls don’t burst out of the womb wielding a cast iron skillet, with an in depth understanding of flavor profiles, and a mastery of knife techniques. Cooking is a skill, it takes practice to do well at, but cooking at a basic level is achievable for all able bodied and minded adults. Men need to use the Internet for things other than porn, there’s so many recipes and cooking tutorials out there, there’s no excuse to not be able to feed yourself.
I’m constantly amazed at how stupid and incompetent men will pretend to be to women they want to sleep with. It’s such a turn off- either they’re honestly incompetent and need a minder instead of a Tinder profile, or they’re lazy, manipulative assholes who know exactly what they’re doing and want a maid with benefits.

Men claim all the best chefs are men which is bullshit. Beside the point, most of them can't cook worth a damn and if they cook some basic meal like lasagna or spaghetti they think they're amazing cooks. I cook delicious meals from all different cultures every night and usually feed my father and he doesn't say anything most times. But give him a cheap ass $3 fast food hamburger and he'll be all over that. Most men eat like shit and it shows. They prefer fast food over home cooked foods in many cases.

Was hooking up w this dude casually and he would always insist I come over for a home cooked meal because he would show up with fast food and I wouldn't eat any of it and he assumed I wasn't eating at all because of that. Finally gave in because it got annoying. Showed up and he made spaghetti and meatballs where the spaghetti tasted like water and the 'meatballs' were completely unseasoned ground beef haphazardly shaped into massive chunks. Took two bites and set the bowl down and said I had to go, never replied to his texts after that. A mess.

Totally agree. I could make basic stuff from a young age but learning how to be a great cook took years! Probably at least 2 years of plain, by-the-book cooking before I understood the nuances of technique and flavor profiles to the point of being able to embellish and create my own dishes, 5 years in and I’m an excellent chef (woot woot!) but it took a lot of time, energy and money to get here!

Cheffing is a male dominated industry. As a former female chef, it always astounded me that in the workplace men gave women shit for trying to do something that was clearly (their idea) something only men could excel at. Yet somehow at home, a kitchen and food on a plate can only managed by a woman?
C’mon, it’s food, not rocket science. Even my kids can make food when they’re hungry. Grown men have zero excuse.

I never learned how to cook growing up and never really enjoyed it but even I can follow YouTube recipes and make something out of it. I think everyone can cook something basic if they try and if they want to be better they just need to practice. So no excuses to rely on women to cook.

Literally my dad, he would starve himself before cooking. I remember one time my mom had a business trip and my dad was alone at home, my mom literally called me and begged me to make him food because he won’t even learn to use the microwave to heat noodles, my mom does everything for him, and he doesn’t order food because my mom also did that, the whole time he was just eating bread and some cold left overs in the fridge (he doesn’t warm the food, doesn’t want to learn to use the microwave)

They also do this with sweeping, mopping, laundry, etc., etc.
They'll do it once, and ask for help several times while doing so ("see how annoying it is if you don't just do it yourself?"), then ruin something of yours so they can bring that up every time you ask in the future.

I'm not making a funny, I'm nearly quoting my cousin's dipshit buddies, who were trying to help their friend who had tried the "Look how I did this chore so poorly you have to redo it yourself", which was not working on his girlfriend. I do not date men who don't cook. I'm a good cook myself and enjoy baking as well. However, I don't enjoy cooking savoury meals all that much, so I don't want to be cooking every day. I have chronic illness and now that I live alone, if I just want a cheese and onion sandwich for dinner, I can! Without someone whinging at me. It's 2021, not 1951 and cooking is a life skill everyone should learn.

They pretend they can't cook. All adults know how to do it. Their are cheap box dinners where you dump boil and let it sit to thicken. Beans are sooooooo easy to cook as well. Whatever you put in it is the flavor. Their are many meals you can cook in pressure cooker that cuts cooking time in half and so many easy things to make in crockpot. Air fryers and little ovens (you can get one that's both) is easy as well. They can prepare and freeze some food as well. Then thaw for about day or two to put in oven when get home. They could simply make fruit salad which is getting some fruit, cut it then mix together. They could just get one fruit and eat it as well. With countless cook books and recipes online their is no excuse for functioning adult to not know how to cook.

Something so random but for many years I disliked the idea of marriage because of the duties "expected" from a women like cooking, cleaning etc and I honestly hated the fact that I was just expected to do everything so I had always avoided the idea. After FDS and other level up communities, interestingly enough I am more open with the idea of marriage as I have higher standards now and i won't be accepting a life style that would be so inconvenient... It's like if I had to do this cleaning and cooking thing I'd rather serve myself alone than someone else thus being fine being "alone" (I like how ppl tend to forget that family and friends exist in this world) . I hope its makes sense tho.

I feel this. I’ve never done domestic labor for men and it’s been a constant issue in every relationship I’ve been in in the past. I do high level emotional labor for my job and I’m damned if I’m going to do free work for a man who isn’t self sufficient.

I don't mind doing the bulk of cooking and household chores if that is an arrangement that makes sense (as in, I am not expected to pay 50/50 or work a full time job and my labor is genuinely valued by my partner), but I would rather die than date another man who doesn't know how to cook basic meals. It's not one of those things that exists in a vacuum. If they can't cook basic meals, they probably don't know how to do other basic things like laundry, cleaning the house, etc. And if they don't know how to do those things, they don't value them, so they will not value you doing those things either.

I don’t like cooking. My mother feed me for years. I am a very very spoiled woman. She was ironing my clothes. Washing and everything. I just had to go to work and give money which I gladly did.
Suddenly I had to leave home for work and live alone and guess what? Never starved. Started small and easy and I am eating healthy. My house also is clean. My clothes are washed and ironed. My bedsheets are changed once a week. My fridge is stoked. I did it all by myself and it takes just 1 day a week (in total) to take care of my place. Why a man can’t do all that?

My dad knows how to cook, sew, iron and wash clothes. But he stopped doing all that once he got married and he became annoyingly "useless". After his wife got sick he had to start cooking for them and even then decided to use his male bumbler skills. I argued with him for like 5 mins about preheating the oven once 🙄. After his wife passed I helped out cooking for him but he was to get off his ass and make his own plate. It was only recently that I learned he could sew. His excuse is that he doesn't have a sewing kit as if those arent easy to.find and super cheap

Yep. Restaurants are ok as a treat but as someone into fitness, nowhere near as healthy as what I can make at home for a fraction of the cost. The way delivery groceries leveled up during COVID just adds to that. I can do a crab cake and fresh field greens salad for $8 at home. It’s never as good as what I can make at a restaurant.
