I'm not going to sit here and bash feminism, thats not why i follow this subreddit. Upon reading other comments, I found that the "men" in men in black comes from older times in the 'company'.

However, 'humans in black' doesnt make sense either since they employee aliens, also pointed out by other commenters.

This just seems like a grab. When I first saw the trailer, I was excited. I didn't hear or feel the vibe of "forcing in a female role" and thats why I liked it. She's just a person who has a role. There's no reason to pull so much attention to someone's race, gender, etc.

This is not to say that women shouldn't act or being given the same chances as men, for women often get less chances to act, direct, and overall work in film. Their lines are less and, most of the time, stereotypical.

But make them people. Make actors just people. We are taught to see others as just humans, again regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, etc and I'd like that to be reflected. I encourage women to continuously try to be involved in film, since there is hardly a female perspective in writing and directing (compared to men, let me make that clear).

But I just want to enjoy the movie, not a statement. Enjoy the acting, without it feeling forced. Being entertained with genuine feelings, not forced scenes that don't make me want to watch it.

Coming in peace. Let me just say before I ask my question, I've posted here before and tried to have good conversations with y'all, and I appreciate those who debate with me in good faith. Okay here goes.

To start, I'm a feminist, and I think changing the name to Humans in Black would be a stupid idea. That being said, I don't think it's a crime for her to ponder the idea.

Something that does interest me is IF some exec said "Yes, let's change the name.", a lot of you feel that it's an "anti-man" move. Why? Stupid name aside, making it "Humans in Black" makes it equal. Man and woman. How is that "anti-man"? It's not like she's saying let's call it "Women in Black".

I appreciate those who will reply, and I appreciate those who are going to take my question seriously.

The first time I saw the trailer for this and saw that they were going to have a woman agent I was actually shocked that they kept the name Men in Black.

Edit: I don’t think they should change it, but I’m surprised they didn’t cave and actually change it.
