I understand where the OP is coming from. He thought his ex wife looked perfectly fine; no need to undertake the both the disfigurement, and the significant risk, mammary implants pose to the recipient.

She is still in his life, if for no other reason than as the biological mother of his children. And, though divorced, they may parent amicably. And there is the history of their pairing.

So, OP, I get it. You wished your former wife did not succumb to the trashy vanity of these harmful implants. You value her, and her health, as far more important than her bra size — and wished she did the same. Fake is fake.

This is entirely understandable and I share the same sentiment and belief for the women in my life. Absolutely none of them need implants, plastic surgery, botox, these disgusting fake nails. They don’t need any of this shit, and most need to seriously ease up off the mounds of makeup. Instead, lose weight, eat healthy, and curtail the cosmetic products, most of which look like total shit. No one is interested in the female Joker.

Honestly I think everyone does a version of “look your best” after divorce. Some of us do it mostly for ourselves(healthier option), some of us do if more for validation from the opposite sex. It’s hurtful and it’s okay to feel the way you do. My ex had the same insecurities. I said the same things. But I was extra special stupid because I ended up encouraging her to do something for herself and paid for my ex’s boobs six months after our first separation. She convinced me to come back for the kids and give the marriage another shot. Seven months after boobs, she started bumping uglies with a firefighter and brining him to the house I was paying for. Felt like a kick in the balls. Hard to see it now, but it all turned out to be a blessing. You’ll be okay bud.

Is it a normal response? Honestly, I don’t know. I think everyone has their opinion of these particular subjects (plastic surgery) and that’s what dictates your response. Can I ask what your thoughts are when you here about other women getting surgery? If it’s the same kind of pity that they’ve succumbed to societal pressures then that’s more of a preference. If it’s different because you have a personal attachment then it’s more tied to the feelings you still have for your ex (whether conscious or unconscious). If it’s different, it’ll pass at some point but it’s best to try not to dwell on these thoughts. One of the slowest processes is letting go of the caring for the well being of your ex. Honestly, having kids together can potentially make some of that care permanent from what I can tell. There’s a very small bit of caring I have left for my ex simply because we have a child together and that’s their mother. I don’t want any pain to come to my kid so that care lingers for their sake not for my ex. I’ve been divorced almost ten years now and it’s still there so I can’t tell you how long it takes to go away if it ever does however it really doesn’t affect me and I’m to the point where it’s not something I ever actively think about or would go out of my way to defend. Just keep moving forward and things like that slip away little by little and eventually it will move so far to the back of your mind that you don’t even realize it’s there 99.9% of the time.

I had an ex who had a stomach staple after she left me. With me she was close to 300 lbs. After the surgery she got down to 140-150 or so and looked pretty good, she got re-married but it only lasted about 5 years. She is now back up to 280 lbs or so.

It takes a long time (at least it did for me) to not be exercised about what they do. It’s repeated ad nauseum here, but they aren’t still the woman you loved and married.

It’s been just over 18 months since the old lady absconded with my boys and last night I had one of those vivid dreams about her with another man and I woke up and was unfazed for the first time ever. I keep a piece of petrified wood I found with my boys in my pocket that I hold for 10 seconds and recount everything I’m grateful for before switching it to the new pair of pants each day.

Find a way to ground yourself each and every single day.
