Throughout my life I always had the worst posture, and it’s something that I’ve been always insecure about. Every new year I always wished I had better posture but I just never improved it. After deep meditation I realized, throughout my life people had made so many comments about my height and made me feel so insecure. When I was growing up, my own pick me mom said “No boy will ever marry you, you are too tall” and unsolicited comments from other women saying “no men will ever date a women taller then them.” I’ve been bullied for being called a giant, never felt feminine enough, and in combination with unconventionally attractive women are treated in general, I hunched to make myself seem small. I hunched so men won’t target me with harassment and I hunched to take up less space. Dating wise, I always thought height didn’t matter but it always ended up a problem because these lvm got insecure.

I am 5’9 and I know I’m not “that tall” but these negative comments didn’t escape me. I didn’t wear heels for so many years but I’ve been embracing it more. I’m trying to straighten my back more too. And now when people make comments about my height, I changed my response. I use to say “oh I wish I wasn’t” or “I wish I could wear heels like you” in attempt to return the compliant. I now say “thank you” and “ I know :)”

I’ve also stopped trying to make men feel better about their heights. I embrace wearing my 3-5 inch heels and when I’m standing next to a short man, I stand tall and tower over them. I do not care anymore. Some men even tried to neg me about my height. I would ask them for their height, most of them would lie and say 6 feet and I would call them out saying I’m 6 feet with heels. I don’t mind calling them midgets to their face especially if they were rude to me.

My posture still needs A LOT work but this break through of why I hunched really opened my eyes. Hopefully this helps my tall sisters :)
