Huskies are so difficult to train and need a lot of time put into making them well behaved dogs. Especially around young children. He wants more kids and she doesn’t so I 100% believe he got one of the most highly energetic dog breeds to piss her off

This really upsets me because it seems like he gave her this dog in a sort of “a kid would be so much easier so let’s just get one of those and ditch the dog” type of way.

It’s so fucked up to use a living being in a manipulation tactic - especially since I’m assuming the end goal was to get rid of the dog (after all, she’s struggling with the dog and already has 2 kids, how is she supposed to handle another baby on top of all that?)

I doubt her bf helps with the anything.

Also I realized as I was typing this that he’s her BOYFRIEND. She went through all the troubles of pregnancy and attached her life forever with someone whose only a bf and is an asshole to boot. Wow.

I would re-home the dog immediately. I wouldn't want to take care of a hyper puppy with 2 babies, that's too much work. Then I'd re-home the boyfriend.

100% passive aggressive. I've had a husky before. They are infamously difficult to train. They're also super stubborn, need a lot of care (I can't imagine taking care of one with two kids under 2), and even when they are trained have a habit of not giving af about what you tell/want it to do. They have SO much energy and short attention spans, and if they don't have a job to do/something to focus on, will get super destructive pretty quickly.

He absolutely researched dog breeds and picked one of the top 5 hardest to raise on purpose.

She needs to rehome while he's out and tell him the husky ran off. This is so far beyond basic human limits of what a mother of 2 under 2 can handle in one 24-hour day.

This marriage doesn't sound sustainable. She sounds babytrapped. TWO kids in a two year time span? Her body hasn't even begun to recover from baby #1, and she is holding baby #2. And the second she's weaned baby #1 and starting to potty train baby #2 (oh, god, is that a light at the end of the tunnel?), he demands baby 3 then gets one of the highest-maintenance (working, not always amazing with kids) breeds and dumps it on his exhausted, overwhelmed (how could she not be) wife??

I'm willing to bet there's a whole red-flag field of coercive controller behaviors in this guy's history.

ETA: just saw this isn't a marriage. OMG. Is she okay? Will he even let her leave?

Okay literally though who just gives a dog as a gift? Without discussing it at all first? It's a living thing that will require a huge commitment in so many ways.

This dude is either ignorant to this / immature about the responsibilities of being an adult with a pet, or this was done maliciously, as anybody who knows anything about dogs knows that huskies are notoriously difficult dogs.

Personally, I would have just given the poor baby to somebody ready to care for him. There are people out there who love them and ARE ready for the commitment. I know that's easier said than done though, because we get emotionally attached to pets fast.

If the man makes a huge fuss when you tell him you're doing so, offer the dog to him. If he refuses, you know this was a passive aggressive move made maliciously. You don't gift a pet completely by surprise without being ready to take the "gift" back. Common sense.

I feel bad for this woman and the puppy. Huskies require so. Much. Attention. My husky baby is well behaved but only when she gets walked for an hour, plays tug for an hour, and gets all the cuddles she demands. So much of my day is devoted to her, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. But if I had the responsibility dumped on me? On top of two kids under 3? With an unsupportive partner? Her life sounds miserable.

Huskies are on my "beautiful dogs but no can do" list for a reason. Frankly, any new puppy on top of the work of two little kids would be a no for me. And besides all that, I'm floored that a grown adult man would give a puppy as a gift, that's not how adding a pet to your life is done. That's how dogs end up in shelters. This is 100% some sort of childish, passive aggressive tantrum and if the dog ends up needing to be rehomed he will blame her even though it's 100% his fault.

No offence but does he care about his children at all. Why would you get a large, untrained dog you don't have time to train when you still have tiny children??? I have nothing against Huskies, gorgeous dogs, but I personally wouldn't want a new dog if I had tiny children, especially not a big one. He wants 3 children, but he won't have any children if that large, untrained, unsocialised dog decides to go for his kids.

Anyone else extremely creeped out by kids with small age difference? It rubs be the wrong way because even though I have never been pregnant, I know the female body needs time to rest after such a huge strain of carrying and birthing a baby, let alone hormones need to be normalized, cycle, etc. I’ve been thinking of that recently due to this weirdo from Love is blind Mark whose girlfriend gave birth to their first child in May 2021 and is now pregnant again and due in March 2022. She should have gotten pregnant with the second around June 2021!!!!!!! Around ONE FREAKING MONTH after giving birth.

A dog is such a fucked up gift. I say this as a dog lover and someone who had to leave my precious boy with my ex husband and I miss him so much.

I think even if you WANT a dog, feeling a connection with that animal is so important and you can't just have one picked for you and be expected to just love it. I'm seriously considering adopting a dog from Cyprus but I know there's a lot of commitment that goes into it and it's hard to decide if you have a connection with that dog online (just like dating! That's why OLD is stupid and dumb and you shouldn't do it IMO). Even if you ignore the emotional side, even just logically deciding on things like breed characteristics that suit your lifestyle and family is important - it's why I recommend to people that if they have never owned a dog that they don't get a rescue and instead go to a reputable breeder who will advise them if that dog is right for them and won't let them take it if it isn't. I love dogs and I wouldn't want a husky- I am all about that terrier life, but I know that because I grew up around two crazy labradors, I dog-sat for everyone who would let me when I lived on an army base and I owned between 1 and 6 terriers for 10 years.

This guy is a dick for forcing a dog on her that she never wanted.

For anyone in a similar situation - it's 100% okay to rehome the dog. It does not make you a lesser person. High energy dogs are not for everyone, if you realize they are not for you, it's MUCH BETTER for the dog to give them to a person that is willing to give them the excersice & obediance training they NEED.

BUT.. Puppies are Dog Larvae and Huskies are AWFUL.

My last dog and my current dog are Husky mixes. I rescued my current Shepherd Husky mix when he was a little older, but my last dog I raised from a pup with my daughter when she was a baby.

It was a NIGHTMARE. That rotten puppy made me CRY on numerous occasions. I did it to my own self though, so I accepted my fate and eventually had an AMAZING dog who lived long healthy life alongside my kids. But Huskies are STRAIGHT UP ASSHOLES Especially as Larvae.
