Ricky Gervais nails it. He perfectly demonstrates how silly the idea is that people need to be reminded not to rape.

TIL men never need to pack a back. They also don't have to be cautious because they're never the victims of violence.

Only murder cases that involve a man killing a woman are important, so let's ignore all others in our shocking statistic.

It's an anti-violence commercial. A great one. Just wanted to point out it is played by actors.

Thank you. I didn't know that. This makes me less upset.

You can do this in a men's bathroom as long as manbits are out of frame.

[–]yul_brynner 6 points7 points8 points 13 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

What country are you from?

[–]Blatherskank 19 points20 points21 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Manchesthair.

ha....I laughed.

The good ole USA. I was fought drinking out of a flask. I wasn't drunk, it was in a coat pocket the whole time.

[–]k1ngm1nu5 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Do you know about women's bathrooms?

[–]JamesRussellSr 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

The only thing I know about women's bathrooms is that they are nicer than men's.

[–]gatonekko 18 points19 points20 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Boy oh boy, you have not been inside a women's bathroom if you believe that.

[–]Meatwadrolls8 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

i work at a gas station. oh the horrors i have cleaned in the dreaded girl's bathroom.

[–]yul_brynner 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Oh fuck no! I worked for a pretty snooty financial company.

There were constant complaints being lodged about how the female toilets were a disgrace. Tampons all over the place, shite smeared up the wall and complaints of the smell reaching office workers that sat in the desks closest to the toilets. The mens, on the other hand, were pretty pristine. One time, I had the shits real bad and I swear I felt bad, because it was a great toilet (marble floor, fancy sinks, expensive looking porcelain dumpsters).

This happened on more than one floor. Some people literally just don't give a fuck and from experience, woman are scandalously bad for fucking up toilets.

[–]DachWuff 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They seem to prefer to hover and not flush. It makes no sense other than having to hover because other ladies hovered and pissed all over the seat. Mall ladies room from what I hear are horrid because women bring small boys with them who pee EVERYWHERE. And the moms don't care because it's already messed up.

[–]yul_brynner1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yeah, totally.

It's just fucking laziness. These entitled moms are another thing. I used to work in restaurants & retail. The fucking men were all fine for the most part, but the

Mom shopper: Why is it so hot in here!?!?

Me:I'm sorry, ma'am, but the air conditioning isn't working.

Mom Shopper: OMG HOW DARE YOU TALK TO ME LIKE THIS, WHERE'S THE MANAGER?

They are also the only ones, when at 16, essentially would say to me things like, "Why are you working here lol, don't you hate it?"

No, I just hate you

[–]GhostBeezer 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They may start out nicer than men's...

[–]k1ngm1nu5 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I will admit to accidentally having gone into them once or twice, and they are without a doubt much nicer than the men's.

[–]ObsidianOverlord 12 points13 points14 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I clean them, they really aren't.

[–]The_Original_Gronkie3 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Oh, come on, I've heard about the ladies room. They have a piano bar with complimentary drinks served by muscular men in skimpy attire, massages, a hot tub, etc.

[–]VegetarianZombie1 102 points103 points104 points 13 years ago (62 children) | Copy Link

It still happens. I'm still upset.

[–]anarchists_R_enemies[S] 50 points51 points52 points 13 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

Me too. Just a tiny bit less now that I know that at least the boy from my OP wasn't actually hurt.

[–]Offensive_Brute 11 points12 points13 points 13 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

to be fair, those slaps probably landed and probably hurt, but he gave consent and was compensated.

[–]SuperMegaCoolPerson 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Does anyone else realize that this attitude of "It's not real, it didn't happen, but because it does happen somewhere I am upset" is the same attitude that enables false rape accusations to be acceptable in society?

[–]Offensive_Brute 12 points13 points14 points 13 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I dont think other people realize that because theres a big difference between the two. Theres a massive misstep in reason between being mad about a commercial and being aware of the reality of the subject matter, and trying to lock an innocent person away for some one else somewhere elses crime.

[–]SuperMegaCoolPerson -3 points-2 points-1 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I recognize that there is a huge difference in the actual action. It's the mentality that I am talking about.

[–]kurzwaffle 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But without that, we'd not have acting. We empathize with imaginary situations that emulate reality.

[–]Offensive_Brute 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

do you think its unfounded to be upset? Like if you're watching a movie about some atrocity in some country. The movie is fiction, but the atrocity is real, isn't being upset about it reasonable? I think there is a big difference in the mentality too. That difference is irrationality.

[–]mdoddr -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don Cheadle is an actor not a hotel in Rwanda

[–]skyeliam 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry for reawakening this after 3 months, but those are two very different scenarios.
I can be upset by reenactments of things, simply because they happen[ed]. Watching a war movie and seeing soldiers die may upset me, thus making me a more sympathetic person. If a person is upset by this video, it makes them more sympathetic to victims of rape, and alerts them to the issue of woman-perpetrated rape.
False rape accusations are the result of society accepting testimonial evidence as a basis for proving rape and giving the benefit of the doubt to women. Unfortunately stopping false rape accusations is difficult. The best way would be to not accept testimonies as the sole form of proof. However, in most cases of rape, testimonial and circumstantial evidence is all that is available. We could also start charging people who falsely accuse others of rape. This has the downside of discourage victims from pressing charges, for if the [guilty] perpetrator is acquitted, then the victim is now open to charges. It would also dissuade victims who falsely accused from recanting, and thus freeing the accused, for concern over their own well-being.

[–]anarchists_R_enemies[S] 3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You really think so? It's not hard to choreograph a fake slap so I see no reason why the actress would have actually hit him.

[+]Offensive_Brute -14 points-13 points-12 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

why the hell not? I'd rather have some one slap me for money than to have to rehearse a choreographed slap. Lets just get this shit over with and get me paid.

[–]anarchists_R_enemies[S] -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That might get a little bit frustrating after the 20th take. :P

[–]Offensive_Brute -2 points-1 points0 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you use a real slap, the likelihood that you need more than one take diminishes greatly. You dont have to package and sell a real reaction the way you do with a fake one. A common trick for directors to get proper emotional responses from actors is dropping bombs on them in the moment.

[–]SpncDgg 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

They are actors.... There was no contact.

[–]Offensive_Brute 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

do you really think thats how it works?

[–]SpncDgg 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Uhhhmmm... Yeah. I know that's how it works, as a matter of fact. I am an actor and stage manager and many people I know get work within the industry doing commercials and PSA's. but that's beside the point. Do you think that actors actually hit each other? So you really think an agent would let their actors damage their faces? It's called stage combat.

[+]Offensive_Brute -10 points-9 points-8 points 13 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Its a slap in the face. Not a punch, not a stabbing, just a slap. Why not make it authentic?

[–]SpncDgg 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Because that is dangerous. Plain and simply. Slaps can be one of the most painful and dangerous things to screw up, if you miss and box someone's ear, that can permanently damage hearing. In my first combat course we spent 4 hours learning just slaps and the different varieties.

[–]Lokrye-2 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I don't think you're an actor and a stage manager. Or you're a real uptight one. Even in blockbusters accidental or unscripted or improvised contact happens. I think you're in a world of your own, good sir.

[–]HugsAllCats4 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Because something accidental occasionally happens, that means that it is okay for it to always happen?

[–]Lokrye-2 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

...

[–]SpncDgg2 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Lol, call it uptight, but I prefer safety myself. And seeing as I learned these practices, I wouldn't consider it my own world.

[–]Offensive_Brute-4 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I never realized slapping could be so dangerous. Don't take the training wheels off your bike!

[–]mdoddr 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Okay, good go guys, let's do a few more takes. Remember slap him 4 times in a row. REAL SLAPS!!!!"

Like the guys face wouldn't be spaghetti by the end. No, the slaps have to be real for the PSA.

they aren't making citizen kane for christ's sake. They're fake slaps.

[–]Lokrye 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't know why you're being downvoted. As someone that works in the film industry, real contact happens all the time.

[–]poloppoyop 24 points25 points26 points 13 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

Hence why I usually let people know around me that women initiating a fight = I'm not going down w/o fighting back. And that I go for the eyes, larynx and liver first.

[–]Anon9742 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Why liver?

[–]johnmarkley 15 points16 points17 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a big, sensitive organ with a lot of nerves running through it, and vulnerable because it extends below the rib cage. Hurts like a bastard, comparable to be being hit in the groin, and the shock to the autonomic nervous system can cause a drop in heart rate that robs you of the energy to continue fighting.

[–]muchachomalo 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I always wondered why people like to eat liver myself they say it is very healthy though.

[–]DachWuff 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you can punch the liver they tend to go down. It's a great way to sneak a knockout in boxing.

[–]lankydude1000 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't have to hit somebody hard in the liver to incapacitate them, it essentially filters the whole of the blood (except for water, which the kidneys do). Shut down the body's filtration system and you can't get rid of toxins for example. :)

[–]Anth741 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mean, if you're in a position where a woman, or anyone, is starting a fight with you enough to have some sort of "usually" mentality, you should probably take a few minutes to think about some of the choices you've made.

[–]poloppoyop 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The "usually" word was refering to the fact of letting people that I'm not gonna offer the other cheek. I guess it is one of the reasons I usually don't end up in a fight.

[–]Boethias 137 points138 points139 points 13 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

This was part of an anti-violence campaign back in 2010 by a Danish non-profit. The campaign is called The bitch hits back.

Here it is in full.

And a couple more:

The bitch hits back #2

The bitch hits back #1

[–]AlchemyPhoenix 33 points34 points35 points 13 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Seems a bit over the top. I'd actually appreciate it more if it were a bit more muted and believable. That girl is a cartoon villain.

[–]dalsgaard 76 points77 points78 points 13 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It's meant to be over the top. The anti-violence campaign was originally created around the website www.thebitchhitsback.dk - a website seemingly dedicated to people who like to watch women beat up guys. It contains videos like the one in the gif with actors playing out the scenes, and they are all pretty tough to watch.

After staying on the website for a while, a big banner pops up on the page with the words: "Busted. Violence isn't entertainment". It then redirects you to a stop family violence webpage, where you're greeted with the following words: " Sorry, but partner violence isn't entertainment. It's bloody serious no matter who hits who. So if you suspect that someone in your family or in your social circle are exposed to partner violence, don't just sit by passively - react immediately".

It's meant to break the illussion that only men commit physical violence in relationships. I honestly don't like the organization behind this campaign, but the campaign itself is very effective viral marketing, and overall I think it has had a lot of positive results.

[–]Mad_Sconnie 8 points9 points10 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wonder if they realize that that seems a lot like a fetish site.

[–]Bodertz 12 points13 points14 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Seems like it.

What better way to bait rad fems and misandrists than showing a video of a male being beat up? There are tons of situations that people only thin are fucked up on one side, so it's interesting to see how much they care when the table is flipped.

For example, that video of the black woman that pepper sprays the white guy after taking time out of her day to kind of be a massive bitch after he cut her in line at a gas station.

[–]AustNerevar 3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So it's posing as a fetish site??

That's a little stupid. They are rickrolling people trying to get off. I mean, don't get me wrong, the message is right, but it's aimed at the wrong audience.

I mean, Hell, I get off on femdom porn, always have. But that doesn't mean I approve of domestic violence.

Violent sexual fantasy and real life violence are not the same things.

[–]frankie_q 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's meant to break the illussion that only men commit physical violence in relationships.

And yet elsewhere on their website we have this gem:

Approximately 40 percent of all the girls and young women who experience violence during childhood also accept violence in their later relationships. About 50 percent of the boys, who grow up in an abusive home act out with violent behavior towards a girlfriend or a family member.

[–]dalsgaard 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep. But they have improved. Only a couple of months ago when you visited the website, and you clicked a link called "Are you a boy?", you were directed to a video of some coach talking about how boys need to work on their anger problems. That was absolutely horrendous. I wrote them an e-mail about how frustrating it was to see that, as a guy who has been the victim of partner violence. There is nothing worse than trying to seek help, and then find that all ressources are assuming that you are the agressor. It invalidates all you feel, and makes it even harder to step forward and find help as a boy who is a victim of violence.

I wrote them an e-mail about how problematic it was, and it seems that they have now removed the video. But what you mention is the reason I'm not too happy about the organization behind it. They are terribly behind the curve.

[–]nigglereddit 125 points126 points127 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

False flags and poes.

They brigade threads like this one to create "proof" that MRAs have unacceptable opinions about rape. All that happens is that the members here, who are of course universally opposed to rape no matter the genders of those involved, down vote them and this prove that they're wrong.

It's good that you've pointed out who's responsible though, thanks.

[–]ElfmanLV 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How do you tag SRSers as pink?

[–]iluuuuuvbakon 7 points8 points9 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You need to have Reddit Enahncement Suite installed first. There will be a little tag icon next to any username that gives a menu like this when clicked where you can enter whatever you like in the tag field then select a color.

Since tagging manually can take forever and a day, somebody made an online tool which can compile a list of tags per subreddit automatically then following the instructions exactly, you copy-paste the list to your own RES tags.

The view I run across frequently seems to go like this... Women can be raped by just making them feel uncomfortable or if they regret sex later. Men could only be raped through intercourse, and that means the guy had a boner, which means he liked it, so it must have been consensual.

[+]Keiichi81 13 years ago* [recovered] (52 children) | Copy Link

When a man is physically aggressive with a woman:

"RAAAAAPE!"
"Misogynist pig!"
"NO MEANS NO!"
"A woman's body is sacred and no man has the right to force himself on her!"

When a woman is physically aggressive with a man:

"He probably likes it rough."
"If a man can't fend off a woman then he's not really a man."
"It's just some aggressive foreplay."
"What, are you a fag?"

And that's why Men's Rights exists. Because feminists sure as shit aren't looking out for us.

Those feminists who contribute to this subreddit are awesome.

But, unfortunately, those feminists are not in control of the powerful feminist institutions like academic departments, lobby groups, etc.

Which absolutely sucks. But, unfortunately, it means there is a split between Dictionary-Definition-Feminism (i.e. a belief in the equality of the sexes) and the official feminist movement.

Generally, when "feminists" is used here, its the official feminist movement which is being talked about... not everyone-who-accepts-the-label-of-'feminist'.

[+]glassuser -25 points-24 points-23 points 13 years ago (39 children) | Copy Link

[+]allnutty 13 years ago [recovered] (38 children) | Copy Link

Not exactly. An actual feminist is one who sees herself as equal to man and strives to do so. She doesn't consider her self better than him, but his equal. However, modern day, a lot of militant feminists.. if that is the correct phrase, see themselves as better than men. It depends on the setting, you can still be feminist and defend a man's rights.

[–]StuntPotato 8 points9 points10 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

To me it feels like what you said should be true, but it isn't. Somewhere it turned into advancing the female sex at any cost. Child custody cases are one glaring example. Or the use of he/she when describing generic domestic violence. Abuser is male and abusee is female, always. Or the headlines saying the men, as a group, should be ashamed because rape is every mans fault ever.

Glanced over SRS and it didn't exactly change my mind.

tl;dr feminism are no longer about equality.

:(

[–]imanedrn 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just because some women arent advancing the cause appropriately doesnt mean that's what it is or should be. That's an ivalid stereotype, just like saying men dont get raped.

Sadly, so many real feminists still call themselves feminists. Unfortunately for them, the second and third waves happened, which permanently blighted the word.

As it stands, if you are a woman who lives in the Western world, feminism already worked for you. Probably before you were born.

[+]TomBurlinson -13 points-12 points-11 points 13 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

2nd and 3rd wave feminism helped a lot of women of different genders and sexualities as well as social sexism(2nd wave) whereas 1st wave was about institutional sexism and ethnic minority women were helped by 3rd wave feminism. and 2nd and 3rd wave also fought for bodily autonomy (right to abortions etc) so actually they did good rather than blight the world. as usual with social/economic etc etc groups there is a vocal minority that fucks up how everyone else views the whole group.

in short. shut up.

[–]EnuffDakka 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Shut up? Fuck you.

In short, you simpering, condescending twit, it is the vocal part of a group that defines it. Whatever good was done by the second and third waves was done in increments by otherwise irrelevant people who were not even necessarily part of those movements.

As it stands, the vocal minority of the second and third waves have propagated as much hate, vitriol, and slander as any other extremist group.

Do not attempt to gimp together a response if it as virtually-illegible as what you just wrote. Whenever you feel like responding as an English-fluent adult, be my quest.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]k1ngm1nu5 -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

That's absolutely true, but unfortunately for you, we aren't talking about babies, we're talking about fetuses.

[–]Offensive_Brute0 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Calling a baby a fetus is like calling a jew a kike or a black person a nigger. Its just slurs meant to dehumanize the victim.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

There is no victim; not letting the abortion take place creates a victim, the mother. I respect your choice to not have an abortion, but don't try to force it on others by citing biased opinions and/or quite frankly stupidly inaccurate or even worse religion-based propagandized literature that has been categorically proven false time after time in scientific settings.

Fetus is not a slur, it is a scientific term for an undeveloped animal growing inside the uterus of the mother (think that's the right part).

I refuse to take your point in the least bit serious unless you are vegetarian and actively protest against hunting any kind of animal.

[–]Offensive_Brute-1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

False. Life begins at conception.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Due to a lack if scientific evidence, you can't say that as much I also can't say it doesn't. We just don't know when it starts.

[–]Offensive_Brute-1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Thats a commonly held believe thats simply not true. Once the two sets of chromasomes are made one, a new and distinct being begins its existence. That fact is just inconvenient for the blood thirsty baby murderers, so they try to muddy the water by claiming that there is some confusion. That confusion is 100%manufactured for political reasons. Medical science acknowledges life at conception, and it has consistently for many many years.

Before you start off, on the " but if its only one cell..." Single cell life forms are life, and this particular single cell life form is made up of human genetic material, and is therefore human life.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yes, you are right that single cell creatures are considered life. That's true, but all those single cell creatures will only ever have one cell, and furthermore, unless you fight the bacterial genocide machine that is hand sanitizer, you're just fine with killing single cell organisms.

I'd like source on your first point. I don't care if its wikipedia or an actual study, just a source.

[–]Offensive_Brute-1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

here, have list of sources.

http://www.princeton.edu/~prolife/articles/embryoquotes2.html

right, but not human life. Hygiene serves a greater purpose than the whims of one washing her hands.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

From that source, third down:

"Embryo: the developing organism from the time of fertilization until significant differentiation has occurred, when the organism becomes known as a fetus." [Cloning Human Beings. Report and Recommendations of the National Bioethics Advisory Commission. Rockville, MD: GPO, 1997, Appendix-2.]

Which is the opposite of what you were saying before. And that's the full quote. As long as you use that a source, so will I, if you don't mind.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Oh, another thing. If I make a new set of chromosomes in a lab, and it could develop further, is that life?

[–]Offensive_Brute1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

How is that the opposite of what I'm saying. the source was meant to argue that life begins at conception, and this quote supports that claim by identifying the Embryo as an organism, i.e. life.

The only thing that I would argue there with is "significant differentiation". My argument would be that having 23 chromosomes that are different from the mother, is significant differentiation enough, and constitutes a human individual in the most basic sense.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

It says it is a fetus. That's how.

And could you expand on that second part? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.

[–]Offensive_Brute1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I'm saying that the unique combination of chromosomes you inherit from both parents is the very essence of your person, and the instant that combination comes into existence, "you" become an individual human being. Whether you have one cell, 100,000 Billion or 10 trillion cells is besides the point, and whether you live in your moms body, or in her apartment, or on the international space station in a pitri dish is also irrelevant. You are human life.

[–]k1ngm1nu51 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

But I don't think so. If that were true, then dead bodies would could still be considered "alive" in the same sense you consider a fetus to be alive (especially if you can call a petri dish home).

Also, this is getting a little bit into nature vs nurture. Which I am just fine with, but I tend to be on the nurture side more. Genetics determine things about your body, but your experiences shape your mind, and that is what makes a person a person, IMO. If you took your brain out, and plugged it into something to keep it alive and functioning, then you would still be alive and a human being, even if the rest of you is a computer. Of course, a lot of people disagree with me on that, so if you feel differently, that's fine and I respect that. The brain is almost all nurture. Twins are proof of this. Now, there can certainly be genetic bottlenecks like autism or down syndrome, but besides that, its all about how you develop and think.

One thing that is important to me, though, is that this is all opinion, so if you could not force this in us and allow abortions, even if you wouldn't have one yourself, that would be great. I realize that's asking a lot, and I can see why you wouldn't, and that's OK, I can't tell you what to do as much you you can't tell me what to do, and I don't expect you to change your opinion based on this. I know I wouldn't change my mind if I were you. But I think letting people choose for themselves makes sense.

Thanks for the debate, it was fun. I'm busy for a while, but if you want to pm me and keep debating, I'd certainly be up for that. Have a nice day, sir.

An actual feminist is one who sees herself as equal to man and strives to do so.

So, by "actual feminist" you mean "Dictionary-Definition-Feminist" right?

Then, unfortunately, the substantial majority of influential persons who call themselves "feminists" are not actual feminists.

This doesn't negate the contributions of actual feminists in any way. However, it does speak to a disturbing and IMO systemic problem within feminism... specifically, that the feminist movement's leaders, lobbies and opinion-makers have rejected Dictionary-Definition-Feminism in favor of militant feminism (to use your phrase).

I hate this shit. I understand NSFW because some people browse at work and in public, but I hate when its all like WARNING: GORE. Some times shit happens to people and animals and their insides end up on the outside. An adult should be able to look at this, process it, and move on.

[–]ruderabbit 7 points8 points9 points 13 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

What the hell? Everyone should be able to just shrug off gore?

Please, you should get help or something ... that's not healthy.

[–]Offensive_Brute -2 points-1 points0 points 13 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

whats not healthy is not being able to face the reality of the human condition in a mature fashion.

Some people have been to war and don't like watching videos of a head being chopped off when they're trying to chill.

[+]Gr8WhiteGrammarNazi -7 points-6 points-5 points 13 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Maybe don't go to war if you can't handle gore.

[–]moorethanafeeling 7 points8 points9 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you serious right now? You know that people try to live normal lives after being at war, right? It's hard enough as it is.

[–]OmegaVesko 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You do realize "people who have been to war" doesn't mean they're all volunteers, right? Just because there is no draft now doesn't mean there aren't any drafted veterans.

[–]Gr8WhiteGrammarNazi -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, there are some. Not enough to cater the etiquette of a general website to, though.

[–]tyciol 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So we have an animated GIF version of a video that's been posted before =/

Also interesting since this is more attempted rape than rape, misleading title I think.

[–]AustNerevar 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are too many comments here treating this gif as if it's live video.

This is an anti DV commercial and has been posted here and other places quite a bit.

It sends a great message, but it shouldn't exist under the guise of a real life event. I understand that OP didn't know this, but, in my opinion, it should be removed and reposted under the appropriate label. Otherwise it just makes /r/MensRights look like a circlejerk.

Ok, even knowing this is a commercial, this physically enrages me. I told my fiancé if he ever came home and said a chick raped him, I would always take his word until it was proven otherwise. Someone would have to physically stop me from tearing down her door and mauling her. This just...knowing that this happens (even if this is just an ad)...fills me with so much fucking rage.

Switch the genders of those actors and any feminist would call it attempted rape and sexual assault.

[–]Umedark 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It doesn't really matter what they would call it.

[–]chefslapchop 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Nope

[–]MrStonedOne 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You see his hand moving to block her hand on his privates (good acting on their part btw) that would (in a real non acting context) qualify it as forced contact of a sexual nature, all one needs to do is prove intent to escalate to forced sexual acts (easy enough if the genders are right, and remember, in this hypothetical, we are switching the genders, so they would be) and you have attempted rape of the 2nd or 3rd degree depending on state.

[–]gus2144 -4 points-3 points-2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a really horrible line of thinking. Swap man for woman in that sentence and you've got an equally offensive statement. No one's worth as a human being or "manhood" or "womanhood" is determined by their ability to fend off an attacker, whatever the gender of parties involved might be.
