I really don't get the men who claim they don't see the purpose of having female friends. I personally find it saddening that I have so little of them because my degree was highly male-dominated.

Female friends can bring unique and valuable perspectives just like male friends do. And they can just be awesome people to be around, just like men can be.

It bothers me that a below-middle class girl of my age can have a much better social and romantic life than me who's from a family that's above the 1% of earners in my country. If you'd listen to what's everyone saying about capitalism, my life should've been nearly perfect. Completely taken care of, right? Not even close to that. All because I was born a few inches shorter for my country's average height with a bad chin.

Being rich or wealthy barely makes a difference in actual lifes. Yes you live in a bigger house than others and you can take more luxurious vacations. So fucking what? Do you remember that big vacation to Asia or do you remember your first girlfriend? Do you remember existing in a big house or do you remember your first kiss?

I fully acknowledge that I'm speaking from a place of privilege. Just saying that it's overrated as fuck. Would trade all of this (except my family) for a good social & romantic life. Fuck money. Fuck big houses.

There was an interesting Tweet that said while financial independence and not giving men the economic leverage to exploit them is the rock solid basis of most women's desire to work, there is another possible factor.
Maybe by around the 1960s, in the middle class from which so many feminist leaders came, women started to suspect that middle class men had created 'jobs' that were basically easier and more fun than being a SAHM in a suburban 'house prison', with no more group female contact while doing chores, etc.

Like once middle class men got out of the mines and hard physical labor, women began to think that these cushy clerical jobs the MC men had created for themselves actually were not that hard. Men were even pretending to be working super long hours by adding in group dinners and drinking, then coming home as if they had put in a 65-hour 'work' week.

So just a hot take hypothesis, but it could be that women thought men were now DEFINITELY exploiting them and taking the much easier role. (Might have always been true, but now the gap was more obvious.) So women prefer to work because most modern jobs beat the fuck out of being locked in a house with endless chores and two screaming kids. Sure, maybe women are better at it. But so what? They should get punished for being better at something that nobody wants to do by always being the one to have to do it?
