If we define status like this, doesn't it apply to women just as much as men? Looks, money, and "game" (I think maybe "charm" or "social skills" might be a better term) all influence how attractive we are.

I'm genuinely curious how you want this to be received. Like do you want women to validate it and say something like "yeah you're right we are very shallow and only date millionaire surgeon Chad!" Or do you want them to push back against it and say that status and money aren't the end all be all? Like either way I feel like you'll be rubbed the wrong way. Honestly what is even the point of this post. It's common sense that money and status will open up an entire new world for you but that it's also not entirely necessary if you just want to meet an average woman and start a relationship. You may not believe it, but not every woman is status obsessed and I would just recommend you stay away from the ones that are. Even if you have all the status and money in the world it'll never be enough for those types.

This definition of status is an overly broad one that I imagine would also be true for men too. Would you seriously argue how a lady presents herself, or her interests, her beliefs or her hygiene don't matter to you?

Plus shouldn't men be glad that women aren't only after factors that men have no control over (ie if we started judging everyone solely on height lol)? A holistic evaluation like this seems to me the most fair one after all. You don't have to be super tall, you don't have to be wealthier than me, but you DO have to bring something to a relationship.

LOL and yet, it seems women are shifting towards the right. In reality, status is more important than ever. No longer are we individuals plugged into our local communities, the means of communication have become global and we're competing (often digitally) with men across vast miles and cities. I went to a friends birthday in a nice club in central london and despite plenty of interaction between the genders, EVERYONE was exchanging social media handles, NOT numbers. My single friends spoke of how useful it was to have a popping Instagram...thats at least if you want remotely desirable women. Even outside of that, as you mentioned, dress sense, looks, grooming were all critical to how people perceived and treated you.

I've noticed 5-6 regular female posters on this sub and they're all utter morons who clearly dont have anything resembling an active or dynamic social life. To deny the importance of status just kinda shows how out of touch they are. And that goes for men here too, most of the men on this sub are losers. 40% of them cant get laid. Most are broke. These people cant even begin to grasp the importance of status, they were never in the running to begin with.

The problem is if you use a word to identify everything

You will always be correct

But you will never be right?

From your formula if you don’t attract a woman you don’t have status

But since status can mean anything

You won’t be able to know what it is your missing until you try everything

So to simplify you use the word status to substitute the word something

“Something” is everything for men

So yes you are correct technically

But you don’t have an actual answer

Obviously you have to attract a woman somehow

And whatever attracts a woman you can classify as something

Unless you’re argument is against an hypothetical human being who claimed nothing attracts women

Then you have not actually come up with an answer

As an answer that can mean anything is not necessarily defined as an answer in most contextual situations

I agree. I was a college athlete and it was easy to attract women. Now in my early 30's I am making decent money but not as good looking because I am not in as good of shape and have hooked up with hotter women. Maybe also because my social skills improved and I have more life experience. I struggled with women when I was only making 40k living in a major city and wasn't really able to do much due to my limited funds.

Status doesn’t often get associated with looks although it does offer perceived status, so I guess it can count. If you’re a beautiful enough guy, you could be unemployed, living in mom’s basement, total loner, and some majority of women are still down to date you and prob have a relationship.

Women are just plain attracted to men, it doesn’t have to have anything to do with your societal status. You can overwhelm women with your status to make them super attracted to you even though you might be kinda ugly on the other side of the spectrum, you can be ugly and really cool some guys are and still land babes, although rare.

The primary reason most in TRP defer to the more common, ‘social standing’ definition of status is it simplifies the concept. Yes, all the facets you mentioned can be viewed as parts of the whole, of social standing. Simplifying the concept though makes it easier to define, process, and ultimately improve. So in context to improving ‘status’, breaking it up into the parts of the whole, makes it easier to tackle.

Status is perceived social value. If you got a Louis Vuitton purse, making an exact replica of it but without the brand won't give you status.

Looks and money are a different thing. They can be associated with status, but aren't the same thing.

You can be rich without status(fairly easily) and handsome without status(harder, but still happens)

And you say it’s the “best predictor” but what if my partner makes less money than I do? What if he doesn’t dress particularly well, or I’m the one who dresses him in what I find attractive since he doesn’t care either way? Or what if he dresses counterculturally? What if I’m really into autistic dudes who don’t have any game but I find something enduring and sexy about info dumping about a special interest?

What if a sexy, well dressed millionaire tried to rizz me, and I don’t like him, does he have low status? Are you basing status off of what you perceive or what women want? And the caricature you’ve created of what women want or who women are actually dating?

Status is the best predictor of reproductive success, and possibly even sexual success as measured in quantity. However, men today are also thinking about sexual success in terms of quality, i.e. how truly desired are they by their partners on a lust basis.

Women always had innate tensions in their mate choice heuristics, which have been amplified by evolutionary mismatch. Modern men's increased desire to actually be desired, while having a lifelong sex life with an eager partner, makes it harder for women to reconcile the tensions in their mate choice criteria the way they once did: often choosing the better but less sexually desirable partner/father and providing duty sex, faking orgasms, going post-sexual earlier, and so on. And modern women themselves seem less willing to do this as well.

So it is complicated. Status does to some degree directly add to raw female desire, but there are limits. It could just be that modern male sexual expectations of widespread monogamy with relatively few men left out, for a life of mutually enthusiastic sex, are simply too at odds with the biology of women.

Most but not all women have a minimum level of status they will consider for an LTR. Most but not all men do too, but generally value different statuses. Most men want status in the forms of looks, youth, and a kind of feminine game, or how well she supports your life. For most men, a very good girlfriend will make his life easier by taking care of small chores and things that weigh him down and less chaotic by radiating positivity through reframing. For many, that's a high value woman, and a form of status in her ability to understand and attend to her man's needs. Most women value a man's status in looking attractive and presentable, earning enough money to support their desired lifestyle, and enough status in interpersonal skills to be fun, confident, and charming. Other non-status things matter too, like men and women value shared interests.
