I've seen this a few times, most recently in the thread about women's expectations of men: PPD posters who genuinely believe men only require that women they date have the bodily equipment to be called women.

That's it, that's their whole list of requirements.

This does not gel with what I see IRL at all. Our single guy friends require that their girlfriend candidates be very pretty, feminine (makeup and hair, dresses), below a certain weight threshold. The girl also has to be social, fit into their friend group/get along with family, have an interesting career OR share his traditional value system (want to be a SAHM).

And these are guys with good - but not stellar - careers, some have kids from a previous marriage, and more than a few are balding. They have a lot of good qualities to their credit (we're friends with them for a reason), but most wouldn't pass the same sort of scrutiny they give potential dates.

They won't swipe right on Tinder without the first bucket of characteristics being met. And the girl doesn't get a second date without the second bucket being checked off.

I've literally had guy friends tell me they really liked a girl, but can't date her because "she's a part time barista, and has no career aspiration beyond that."

EDIT: I'm not saying standards are bad - I actually think it's good to screen for someone you're compatible with - just that I'm surprised PPD thinks guys don't have standards
