I need some advice from you ladies, please. My situation is this— I have a wonderful boyfriend who wants us to move in together. He’s moving to Boston for school and wants me to move there as well. I’m about to start studying online and I’m very eager to begin, but I feel taking such a serious step in this relationship would rob me of my focus. I want to do well in university, especially as I’m the first in my family to pursue a higher education. I’ve found a very good job there in Boston, one that excites me so much and will work well with my school schedule; it will also behoove me in my future endeavors.

But I just feel uncertain about the move right now. I don’t know why. Is it him? Is it me? What’s the problem? If I was on my own in Boston, going to school and working this job, I’d be peachy. But I’m not sure I want to live with him. I don’t feel ready. There’s more potential I need to reach personally. And I feel we don’t want the same things. Lastly, and I feel wicked for saying this, I feel I can do better than him. He’s not a bad man, he’s only treated me well, but he wants a serious future together when I only want a boyfriend right now. I feel bad if I don’t move in with him. Why is that? Social conditioning? My independence is very important to me and moving in with a man feels restrictive. And he’s 29! He’s getting his PhD and I’m an undergrad. Certain older individuals in my life have advised me to stay with him as he has a certain future; he will be very successful. But I intend to be successful also!! Relying on a man’s success is old world. We don’t do that here. Anyway. Please advise this 24 year old. Thank you ladies
