The worse part to me, is that the trope of women hitting/grabbing/crushing a guy's balls is deliberately employed and popularized because it is a form of emasculation and sexual assault. This picture tries to compare this to a man hitting a woman in the throat/face, but it isn't really the same. A woman hitting a man in the face is comparable to a man hitting a woman in the face.

A woman targeting a man's genitals, especially in the context of gratuitous/vindictive violence, is comparable a man grabbing a woman by the pussy(or, arguably, breasts) in a violent manner with the explicit intent of sexually harming and diminishing her. It's a form of sexual assault/violence, and a common trope because it a form of female sexual abuse/power over men(which people just accept, rationalize or romanticize under the premise of female "empowerment" or "victimhood").

Studies concluded that the male being circumsized is a health benefit both for himself and for his partners. Furthermore, WHO made a review on male circumcision globally and concluded that it's healthy, helps against infections and diseases and is only ever a health risk of any kind if it's performed by someone unprepared.

It's only studies that includes female circumcision which concludes that the circumcision is bad and that the health benefits it gives to males doesn't apply to females, so at the end of the day it's bad to do so.

In sum, male circumcision is good and benefits both the penis owner and his partners while female circumcision is just mutilation. But a lot of redditors get too mad that their penises aren't as good as they could be and refuse to see it as a loss, so they convince themselves its better and healthiers despite every research proving them wrong. Our very own anti-vaxxers :)

Eh, it honestly depends on which type of FGM you compare it to. All forms of FGM are banned in the US, some of them are as invasive as circumcision but they are still classified as FGM regardless.

There are four major types of FGM.

Type I — Partial or total removal of the clitoris and/or the prepuce (clitoridectomy). When it is important to distinguish between the major variations of Type I mutilation, the following subdivisions are proposed:Type Ia, removal of the clitoral hood or prepuce only; Type Ib, removal of the clitoris with the prepuce.
Type II — Partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora, with or without excision of the labia majora (excision). When it is important to distinguish between the major variations that have been documented, the following subdivisions are proposed:Type IIa, removal of the labia minora only; Type IIb, partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora; Type IIc, partial or total removal of the clitoris, the labia minora and the labia majora.
Type III — Narrowing of the vaginal orifice with creation of a covering seal by cutting and appositioning the labia minora and/or the labia majora, with or without excision of the clitoris (infibulation). When it is important to distinguish between variations in infibulations, the following subdivisions are proposed:Type IIIa, removal and apposition of the labia minora; Type IIIb, removal and apposition of the labia majora.
Type IV — All other harmful procedures to the female genitalia for non-medical purposes, for example: pricking, piercing, incising, scraping and cauterization.

Type IIa, TypeIIIa, Type IIIb are comparable to circumcision and illegal to be performed on a baby. Type IV is less invasive than circumcision and also illegal.

However, people always seem to think of FGM as "Type I" and think it's a singular procedure, and attempt to compare circumcision with Type I FGM as a way to "prove" how much worse FGM is.

But this really doesn't hold up because circumcision isn't the worst form of MGM. Imagine if the word in common parlance for circumcision was simply "Male Genital Mutilation". There's castration (type I) or penectomy (type II) and when people refer to MGM they could mean those instead. But when we talk about circumcision we actually call it circumcision. When we talk about castration we call it castration. For FGM there is no such distinction in our everyday language which creates this fantasy in people's head that FGM is just inherently worse than MGM because they try to compare a type I practice to a type III practice.

The thing is, all of these issues are carryovers from the long history of men being the disposable sex. I can't remember whose report it was, but there was an anthropological report a few years ago that found that throughout human history, only about 60% of men actually reproduced while nearly every woman reproduced. Men were the ones who had dangerous jobs and fought wars. It's ingrained in us psychologically and truly, a woman dying is a problem due to the fact that it's one less woman to give birth to our progeny.

We will not did these issues or any of the issues this subreddit has by making everyone see men as victims. Humans abhor weak men and are repulsed by victimized men; it's an innate psychological response. The only way to fix the problems facing modern men is to return the gender dynamics to a more traditional model.

I surely skimmed though what you said because there is no sensibility in it. To say male and to say female circumcison are the same is pretty stupid. It’s a flap of skin and your comparing it to a whole damn arm talking about “what’s the difference” idk a couple bones, nerves fingers and actual functionality. Doctors approve of circumcisom for a reason and your over touting your horn as if you know that medical pros and cons for female and male circumcision. Some cutting is just to remove skin from the outer flaps (called the labia majora) or the inner flaps (labia minora), which is somewhat comparable to the foreskin removal done to men (both contain very sensitive skin tissue, although male foreskin removal removes more tissue -- close to the size of a credit card is taken during circumcision -- plus the male foreskin arguably serves more of a purpose than the labia). A number of men and women do choose to have these procedures done when they reach adulthood (it is called labiaplasty for women), although it clearly is not a choice that should be decided for infants (baby boys or girls) without a pressing medical emergency.

The more damaging types of FGM will remove the clitoris and/or the clitoral hood, and sometimes even other parts of the vulva, which results in severe damage to a woman's ability to experience any sexual stimulation at all. These would be somewhat comparable to castration in a male, although reproductive functionality is still maintained in females who suffer this type of genital mutiliation, so it is not a perfect comparison by any means.

I don’t get the right bottom one

That image notes that suicide is seen as a statistic when men kill themselves, but a tragedy when a woman takes her own life. This is evidenced by the decades long epidemic of male suicide, where nothing is being done to solve the problem of more men dying from suicide every year than women, yet it would be front page news and a national emergency in any country if it were women killing themselves at 5-10 times the rate of men.

Also, in almost every discussion I've seen regarding the male suicide epidemic, someone always unhelpfully notes that "women still try to kill themselves more than men, so there!". This is a very misleading statistic, and it depends on whether one considers self harm to be a suicide attempt, and it also relies on the fact that there are a large group of women who commit what is more properly termed self harm multiple times (one woman will have several dozens of cries for help...after the fourth or fifth time failing, can anyone reasonably say that the person wants to end their life?), which really skews the data. While there are people who try hard to commit suicide and fail, there are a lot who fail because they feel harming themselves significantly is the only way to get help. There is an important difference between the sexes there. And it is not easy to differentiate between those two in suicide statistics, but once it is done as much as is reasonably possible the problem becomes much more clearly sexist against men.

Can we please keep from calling circumcision mutilation and act like it’s women forcing it upon men or comparing it to women’s genital mutilation. As a circumcised American male, it’s not a big deal. You aren’t mutilated, it doesn’t cause loss of sex drive, there is no discomfort, we are all still horny, it’s more hygienic, and it has a long history in the civilized world. Piecing your nose will cause more problems. There are people/groups/countries against it, which is fine, just don’t make it a seem like it’s women forcing it upon males and it’s a men’s rights issue. It’s not. It’s religious (which if you aren’t, fine, but relax), customary, or a decision based on what’s normal for your family or area. In Texas, it would be weird to not be circumcised, but nobody talks about it or cares because it’s the parents choice. Other parts of the world is the complete opposite, neither is wrong. Totally different from women’s genital mutilation.

Just saying don’t take away from more important issues, it’s not a men’s rights issue. And I realized I will be downvoted all the way to hell for saying this. Other than that, I enjoy the subreddit.

On the contrary, it can absolutely be compared.

The WHO identifies 4 types of FGM; some are more serious than circumcision (e.g. removal of the clitoris) but some are much less serious than circumcision (e.g. nicks or pinpricks, presumably intended to satisfy a religious requirement in tick-the-box fashion but without doing any serious harm to the girl).

Notably, ALL types of FGM are illegal, even the very minor ones. But male genital mutilation is still legal, because boys aren't considered deserving of the same basic protections that our society extends to girls.

It does sometimes. It always causes loss of sensitivity and reduced sexual pleasure, but that only results in reduced sex drive in some cases.

Also, a percentage of circumcisions/male genital mutilations go horribly wrong, like any surgical procedure can. Sometimes the baby boy's penis is completely destroyed, sometimes it's horribly deformed, occasionally a baby dies from blood loss. We should not be performing surgery on babies, with all the inevitable risks that result, when there is zero benefit from the surgery.

I really don't agree with the circumcised part. Circumcising a male kid is really but a snip. Unnecessary in my opinion but still but a snip. While female circumcision will at best leave discomfort for ever. It is done in various degrees depending on region and cultural/religious background. Sometimes they cut away parts of the outer labia, sometimes the inner labia too and yes even the clitoris. Contemplate the psychological damage of not being able to enjoy your own body for a second here. This leaves the vagina vulnerable for all kind of infections being bacterial or mycotic in nature because the natural defense is gone. Thus these women need specialized care products or it's infection after infection. Lactacyd femina is even recommended. Not yet mentioned the fact that male circumcisions are considered quite normal by many so this is done in a hospital by medical professionals. While in a lot of cases, female circumcision is still being carried out by short sighted grandma and her trusted potato peeler. Not to mention a lot of girls don't even survive the practice. Don't want to discredit the whole meme here. Just pointing out the part that really isn't correct.

A recent report by South Africa’s Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities calculated that in the Eastern Cape and Limpopo provinces alone at least 419 boys have died since 2008, and more than 456,000 initiates have been hospitalised with complications.

Deaths commonly occur through dehydration, blood loss, shock-induced heart failure or septicaemia. And there are estimated to be two total penile amputations for every death. Countless numbers of participants are left with permanent scarring or deformity. Urologists describe seeing patients whose penises have become so infected and gangrenous they literally drop off.

No babies don't get indoctrinated. It's part of where the grooming and brainwashing begins though. Part of the intention is to control natural sexual behaviour to be more in line with religious doctrine.

Another way it is used to control is like branding. It's akin to being burned with a symbol or tattooed.

Babies that have been circumcised often go into shock. This causes trauma that manifests later in life. The same thing happens with branding.

You don't see the bigger picture because you're too lost yourself that you can only cling to what someone else told you to believe rather than thinking with compassion about how bodies should be treated.

Tribes have been branding for probably even longer. I don't like the idea of burning babies any more than the idea of cutting them though.

Claiming to follow Jesus to claim you have thought out this entire situation compassionately is just a way to stay ignorant.

The baby was kept in the machine for several minutes to generate baseline data of the normal metabolic activity in the brain. This was used to compare to the data gathered during and after the surgery. Analysis of the MRI data indicated that the surgery subjected the infant to significant trauma. The greatest changes occurred in the limbic system concentrating in the amygdala and in the frontal and temporal lobes.

A neurologist who saw the results postulated that the data indicated that circumcision affected most intensely the portions of the victim’s brain associated with reasoning, perception and emotions. Follow up tests on the infant one day, one week and one month after the surgery indicated that the child’s brain never returned to its baseline configuration. In other words, the evidence generated by this research indicated that the brain of the circumcised infant was permanently changed by the surgery.

The first point is very much correct and I agree with your sentiment, I only disagree with calling it a 'double standart', which reinforces the very popular (not only here, but with feminists too) us versus them mentality. Cancer is remarkable for it's attack on everyone regardless race, gender or class and the only reason women get more attention is because of the effective work of many men and women who decided to raise awareness to what were otherwise taboos. It's frankly a stupid thing to disagree on and if it means we side together I'll resort to calling it a double standart, no worries.

The second point, however, reeks of TERF and neo-Nazi rhetoric adapted to suit an anti-feminist discussion. Circumscision is a well researched and well backed medical surgery, many doctors lost countless hours of sleep studying it's practice and how to make it safer - granted, the circumscision of christian boys to stop them from masturbating was a stupid movement which was also wrong.

Female genital mutilation isn't necessarily harmful, but it's a practice that is often specifically to harm women by deliberatly removing their sexual sensitivity - with great success might I add.

There are zero medical benefits to circumcision for men & boys in western countries.

An extremely quick google search shows both the US and Canada acknowledge small but numerous advantages brought by circumscision, including reducing the chance of penile cancer, HIV infection and preventing phimosis.
