The media along with television has been portraying this fantasy tale of men piercing through the rejections, that giving flowers to women who said no is good and can get you a chance in the door, that "chasing" and "pursuing" is essentially a man's job. I'm somewhere in the middle here, I usually give a girl 3 chances to go out on a date before I move on. I might pursue a girl a little if I did something to really piss her off although from my experience it's rarely worth it. But I certainly heard stories of men chasing a girl for months (and even years) and now they're married. So where's the line of it becoming "creepy" if the woman on the other side answers the man's texts, but never goes out for him, for weeks, months and even years? A man essentially becomes an emotional tampon for the girl, sorry to say, there's no other way to call it. She'll tell him his problems, of which some he might even go out of his way to fix for her.

And what about self-respect? It seems like in the world full of easy great-looking dates that you can get from online dating people can't be arsed to give second chances, they'll just put you as the "backup" plan and never go out with you unless they see you doing something very exciting via Instagram stories or elsewhere. The main impression I'm getting is that back in the day before this whole social media - online dating game got widespread chasing might've worked because there weren't as many options and people were less disposable as dating material. Now - all you gotta do is download the app. You've got guys hiding behind the screen and messaging hundreds of girls (if they're barely attractive to even get a match, let's be honest on that), smarter guys building algorithms to swipe, like and automate messages and women receiving thousands of messages to their DMs.
