Balding is different than bald. I've got a few friends who started going bald in their 20s and they decided fuck it, shaved their heads. They look great and it works because it's an obvious choice to be shaved totally bald rather than have one giant bald spot.

Most if not all of them, just want your resources. They might even resent your for your looks but since you have resources they will fake it. These females would never give you any attention in your hard days.

It's easy to get attention and "love" once you're a walking ATM. Swallow that black pill. Understand that the type of love you look for may never be out there. You may find conditional attention, interest in you conditioned BECAUSE of your money bag and resources or stability. Take that money away and they would drop you behind the bus and laugh.

My advice. Do not love such women. They don't want you for you. They want what they can get from you.

Balding is a spectrum. Some corner recession makes zero difference in how you're perceived. It's only when it's severe recession, all your hair on top getting really thin, or noticeable crown balding that starts to really affect you. Most men look worse with a clean shaved bald head, how much worse it depends. Few men that have the right skin tone, the right facial features and the right skull shape can probably look as good as when they had hair.

Its because your value relative to your peers increased. At 20 if you're bald, that a real detriment because most guys that age have a full head of hair. Girls are more into the pretty boys with long hair. At 40, almost everyone in your age group is balding or bald, so it matters less. Plus now you can seem more mature and distinguished. Plus as we age naturally tend to lose fat from our faces, regardless of exercise or diet. Its why older people have a bit more of a gaunt look.

Bald head + chubbier young face = confusing aesthetic, ew

I don't think age is a factor, I've found young bald men hot as well.

I think your difference in success might just have to do with the changing culture, hooking up 20 years ago and nowadays are quite different. I mean, I am too young to know, but at the very least it was almost exclusively irl as opposed to on bumble or wherever you are now, so you needed a different social skillet to attract people. People were also way more prudish on average, so barrier to entry was higher.

It seems to affect different guys differently, some guys who aren’t even all that bad looking who go bald have to stop dating because their options are so limited. Other guys it doesn’t seem to affect them at all. You won’t really know where you stand until it happens to you.

Every day where I live in Thailand a new 30-50ish man with a shaved head and a fit gym body arrives. We call them “power baldies”. They do pretty well with the ladies here, I see a lot of them coupled up. My husband has a full head of hair that’s naturally less gray than my own, just genetics and luck. I’d still be happy with him if he was bald. I also dated balding guys in their 20’s when I was younger.

My hairline has been receding the last 5 years or so, and I’ve been doing the buzz cut for 2 years now. I’d say it hasn’t hurt my dating life in any obvious way. Things have actually gotten better for me during that time, which id credit to putting on muscle and losing facial fat. I don’t think I would look good with a shaved head and chubby face.

Your facial structure and overall aesthetic probably changed. I’m not bald but I also have never had a great hairline. When I was in my early 20s I rocked a buzz cut and it didn’t look good at all. I switched it to longer on top and faded on the sides and that looked way better. As I’ve started losing hair I’ve started rocking the “older guy” cut where it’s combed back/to the side but not covering the corners of my head so it doesn’t look like I’m trying to hide my hairline. I have way more facial hair than I did back then and my face looks more square than it did a decade ago.

I’m also a little surprised by how well this look works but I think the main thing has been accepting my age and finding what works best for it. I think people go wrong when they try to appear like someone they’re not. Comb-overs, clothing meant for younger people, or overall just giving up on their looks because they’re not happy with them.

IMO - Being bald in and of itself isn’t unattractive. Balding in and of itself isn’t unattractive. What is unattractive is not balding gracefully and not owning your baldness is a turn off. If a guy has a receding hairline, and tries to grow out the top to try to cover it up, it’s super unattractive, but if they get a shorter cut and let the receding hairline show, it can be very attractive (look at Jude law for example). If a guy is bald on the top but he still holds onto the thick hair he has on the sides and really grows it out like he’s clinging to it, that’s really unattractive, but if he just shaved it all off and rocked that, the unattractiveness goes away. It’s 1000x better to be fully bald and rock it than to desperately cling on to the hair that’s left with combovers and other tacky methods.

I got you beat by 2 years. I have all my hair and I'm a little leaner than you but still muscular. There is a teenage girl in my building who clearly has a crush on me. Women half my age are constantly checking me out and sending invitation signals to me, especially in the gym, but also on the subway, street, etc. A woman hit on me at a wedding although my wife was right there. Embrace it!

If you take care of yourself, it’s not an issue. If you simply acknowledge, accept and embrace immutable facets, it’s not much of a handicap at all.

Bald doesn't really matter in your 20's. I'm fortunate, at 43 yr old I have a full luxurious head of hair, with no receding hairline. However, I rock the bald head look often since my early 20s. It's never been a problem in my dating life. There could be a demographic issue at play here. Many of my friends have had shorn their heads with no problem. Most of us were black so that could play into it. I never noticed it being a problem for the 8.5x11's that were also bald, or shaving their heads.

It's fine. I don't find it attractive one bit but I wouldn't rule out someone I really liked otherwise because of it or leave a partner who went bald. My partner's dad still has hair at 55 so I think I won't have to worry about that.

I'm just gonna be blunt and say I think baldness on a man is a strike against a man as much as signs of aging can be on a woman. Not a deal breaker unless they're super picky and some people might even prefer it but most don't. Love interests in fiction written by women are never bald, neither are the popular heartthrobs.

Since this hasn't been flaired as Q4W I'll chime in as a bald man. I don't know when I started going bald. I used to be in the military and I kept my head shaved even though I was perfectly capable of growing a full head of hair.

Then in my late 20s I returned to civilian life, decided to grow dreadlocks and noticed the top was a lot thinner than the sides. That lasted a year or two until I cut everything low again. Not shaved bald, just close cropped.

Once I started looking like George Jefferson I decided to just shave it all off again and I have a clean shaven head to this day.

Baldness has never been a hindrance for me.

I'm very young (21) and I'm also really into long hair on guys. I'm not into older guys so I'm not your target audience, but I'll answer anyway

That being said, if I was single and I met a guy who I vibed with and found otherwise attractive, I wouldn't mind the thinning hair/completely shaved head, as long as that's not the guy's defining wuality and he can't stop talking about that insecurity. Also, no George Costanza hairstyles. Just shave it off.

Also goes without saying that I wouldn't lose attraction if my bf went bald.

Well yeah? If a ten year old is seriously balding there is almost certainly some major health or genetic issues happening. If a sixty year old is seriously balding but no other odd appearance happening he's probably normal. The line of probability between those points exists and it says a heavily balding 20 year old is not necessarily a good genetic bet. Maybe he's got an unfortunate set of normal genes. Or maybe there's something up.

You'd probably have been a bit worried about the normality of a woman with wrinkled baggy lower eyelids at age 20...at age 65 if no other appearance issues crop up and her eyes haven't become bizarre she's probably normal, not likely to just up and die on you yet.

On the other hand...mild acne at 16, normal. At 26? What's up there?

This is just how things are. Humans walk through life calculating probability without even thinking about it consciously.

Being bald works for some men. It depends on the shape of your head, your face and your style. A 25 years old friend of mine shaves his head and it suits him, he looks much better this way than with hair.There is nothing with younger women and much older bald men. Well of course in your 40s it would totally normal to expect women seeing 40 year old bald men as attractive if they're fit (and/or have a beard).

But if you've started going bald when you were 15, yeah, your dating life is basically dead.

So you gotta do what you gotta do. Either taking meds that'll decrease your sperm count by 90% in hopes of sustaining what you have (not always works). Or getting a hair transplant or a hair system in order to "deceive" women to at least starting dating you and knowing you as a person.

You can't be expecting strangers to be willing to know your personality if you went bald at 15 and was NW3. Unfortunately, no matter how many times the minority of women say they like bald men, the reality is that most women don't like young and bald men, and it's the majority of them. They just won't be expressing their thoughts in order to not get ostracized (and it's fine, everyone is entitled to have preferences).

Just like how women try to increase their SMV with makeup (deception), balding men try to increase their SMV with hair transplants or hair systems (wigs, which is also a deception). But wigs are much more stigmatized, so you gotta put much more effort into hiding it and making it undetectable.
