I'm thinking of Henry VIII. He successfully impregnated several women many times but his children either didn't live to adulthood or didn't reproduce themselves.

Impregnating someone/getting pregnant is pretty easy. Raising a child to be a functioning adult is an entirely different thing and really tough.

Maybe I misunderstand this point?

BTW, I'm not sure how natural competing actually is. It's almost heresy now to say it, but for most people throughout much if not most of history, they weren't (either in reality, or just in their minds) on some epic libertarian quest to either "climb the ladder" at some corporation, or become a powerful warlord or something. They lived in some medieval village, in a communal setting, where they worked for common goals, with their close kin. Their "job" was largely hereditary: they were peasants or labourers or for the more fortunate few, bakers or blacksmiths or something because their father was and so they were too when they grew up. Incels were possible, but really for the most part most guys were arranged a marriage if they were vaguely normal not hideous and capable of being an adult.

This everything should be an individualist free market because it just should, okay? idea is some Victorian slash fifties American thing that is just hanging around like a bad cold.

An awful lot of these improovercels will still only "qualify" for the mid-30s, I've-had-my-fun,-it's-time-to-settle-down-now women, even after competing and doing all the meme right things. Picture it: dudes who worked out furiously, fellated the bosses for years to get enough money together, bought a lot of expensive clothes and all that stuff... and at the end of it all, they still end up settled for. That's just going to be the reality here for a lot of guys, who may well decide that giving up is actually the more self-respecting choice.

This is second topic today that basically argues same thing. Men should improve themselves and get out there and go after women. I have only one question: why?

What does dating a woman can provide for a man he cannot get lesser expense outside of relationship? Friendship and company you can get from male friends, it just takes a bit of work to get/keep those connections. And this is before we take into consideration that many women, I dare say majority, are boring, selfish, devoid of morals and stupid. They make terrible friends. Sure there are exceptions, but they are few and far between. Sex can be cheaply bought, at your convenience, without strings attached and entirely for your benefit. Women these days don't want to do their fair share in the relationships, that is to say cooking and cleaning, and those that do are usually terrible at it, will resent you, and again these services can be easily bought elsewhere, and don't get me started on family/cohabitation laws. I will sooner walk thought a minefield without proper equipment then seriously consider marriage and kids here in US. So, again what is it so valuable that women bring to our lives that we supposed to put up with all of their bullshit?

The thing is, some men have realized that to become the most desirable version of a man that women actually want (not just what they say they want), is to become a man that is not good for our society. Some do not want to stoop to that level.

Women want the experienced, confident, wealthy, tall, partner. But to be this type of person, outside of just being born tall, in many cases requires one to be a terrible human being.

To be wealthy at a young age should be a red flag. Either the individual is a spoiled, entitled brat, or it probably took a lack of morals to become so rich at a young age. Sure there are exceptions, but that is a very small percent of an already exlusive group of people. For the majority, to be wealthy takes time and years of compounding.

Then to be experienced and confident with women likely means the guy plays the field. He isn't committal, but may be willing to lead a woman on like he is just to access sex. He knows all the right things to say and buttons to push to keep a woman engaged, becuase he has done it many times. His experience is not a good thing. In many cases these guys will manipulate and exploit woman for their personal benefit.

The tall guy is an outliar to this and is really the only leverage they have that is not a negative quality trait. But not only is this is a crapshoot, but around 80% of American men are under 6ft. So a majority do not even meet the standard women are looking for.

What the hell are we competing for. Like what's the prize . So many guys are so inexperienced that they fail to realise once do they manage to get a woman. There's so much more bullshit that goes into maintaining a relationship. Ok you've got her then what. What if she's toxic, talks to her exes, has a gambling problem, what if she's boring. I was on a trip 2 months ago traveling and I met a girl and a guy. The dude was drooling over the girl, saying she was the most gorgeous thing ever......short story she decided to chill with me instead and we hang out. She was cool wt the time we met so we decide to travel again together. The more time I spend with her, the more I realise she's nuts and emotionally draining. Yet the guy fawning over her has no idea because he has placed her on a pedestal without realising the possibility of who she might be if he got to know her better. Dudes don't think about this shit, they just see tits and lose their mind. I'm not competing for shit, because i know all too well not everything is sugar and spice.

When I was growing up one of my neighbors was a drug dealer who sold to HS kids, and managed to bag up a beautiful woman with a masters in women’s health. When I was in middle school most of the girls were either dating or chasing after grown as college freshmen who had a car, a part time job, or lived by themselves while my biggest achievement at the time was taking honor classes. When I was in HS there was 10 dudes for 2 girls. When I was college the women thought all the men in their classes were lame and corny, so they decided to go for hood dudes.

My successes only came from pure luck and happenstance. I didn’t compete for the women I slept with. They just took a chance on me, and decided on their own accord to escalate things. None of competition and generic woo woo shit came into play.

Sexual attraction is an easy to understand concept. Both men and women want the exact same thing - someone who is good for making kids. That’s it. Even if you consciously do not want children, the purpose of sexual attraction is to procreate and that’s what we select for.

When it comes to the female of the species, it is pretty straightforward. Because the female bears the child in her body, her body is what men look at to determine if she’s good for making kids. Her youth, hip to waist ratio, fat distribution, breast size, nails, skin and smile are all indicators of her fertility. We select for those things even if our goal is to only enjoy sex. Nobody wants to have sex with someone they are not attracted to.

But when it comes to men, things are a bit different. The man doesn’t have to beat the child in his body. His age and physical shape while a nice to have, isn’t nearly as important. So what is?

It is how he behaves. A man who has overcome his fears and is confident is someone a woman can rely on to fight off wild animals and male competitors. A man who can intimidate others will ensure that her offspring survives. Men who are anxious, fearful, nice and modest, don’t survive quite well. But these are the traits women are attracted to whether we like it or not. A woman may date an asshole and a jerk who doesn’t treat her objectively as well as a nice regular guy would. But that guy has what she is looking for for making kids.

So why do men who are athletic or financially successful or famous so attractive to women? Because they have something society wants from them so it gives them permission to act confident and without fear. They believe their kids will have high chances of survival, so they act like it and this is what attracts women. Plain and simple.
