The issue is a lot of women and girls confuse the rush of validation with empowerment.

Women claim they feel “empowered” after taking their top off in front of a crowd of cheering men, when in reality they felt a dopamine rush due to the men being sexually attracted to them and giving them attention. They believe giving men what they want is the only way they will be accepted and loved.

This is why it is so important that women base their worth off more than just their looks and sexuality. Your self esteem and confidence MUST come from within yourself where it can’t be swayed by the opinions of others. That is true empowerment.

I used to believe this philosphy, although I never put it into action. I did think it was okay to be a "hoe" or "slut" and that "every woman is considered a slut by some man." While true, that does not mean you should be indiscriminate about who you share your body with.

Back when I was on twitter, there was a hashtag called "liberal thinking, conservative living" that hit the nail on the head. It meant that people promoting these ultra liberal values and beliefs do not often live by them. They may be "sex positive" and see nothing wrong with being promisicuous, yet they had children within wedlock and were discerning with who they had sex with prior to marriage. They often live a traditional, conservative life. I loathe twitter, but that hashtag really made some experiences I had click.

I wanted this advice to be true for so long. I divorced, jumped immediately into another relationship for about 10 months, ended that a couple months ago, and decided to experiment a bit with a one night stand and some FWB situations. Thought I'd be an adventurous single woman and "get some strange".

I have never felt so sad, gross, and lonely as I have after those encounters.

I am happier by myself with none of the messaging and hollow validation from those guys. Finally blocked them all tonight. All the promiscuity propaganda has really fucked me up, left me feeling like something's wrong with me, like I'm "not sexually liberated" for not being able to casually sleep with guys. But I fucking can't. I can't get over how sick and hollowed-out it makes me feel. We're surrounded by so much "sex positivity" that it made me feel like I was wrong to not embrace it.

I'm grateful there's a space here telling me that my gut is right and my soul is right to keep my body to myself until a worthy person presents himself. And if he never does, that's fine too. My body is mine.

Here is a good way to quickly cut through the bullshit of liberal "feminism"-- would you give this advice to a girl or young woman? Would you tell your 14 year old niece to make porn and be a slut, because it's so eMpoWeRiNg? I had an argument with my girl friend about this when WAP came out. I told her that I did not like the song and I thought that it does more harm than good, which she seemed very surprised and confused about. I don’t talk about this much these days but I nearly dropped out of college due to the extreme bullying and slut shaming I experienced. Strangers often called me a slut in the street and the police advised me to lie low for a while due to the rape threats I received.
