I hate that womanhood is equated with breasts. Having small breasts has taught me that I'm a quasi-woman or less-than. This poor woman may lose one or both of her breasts and her 'partner' just taught her that her worth was in her breasts/sex appeal. What a wonderful world.
[–]WeremaidFDS Newbie 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Oh absolutely, but I count myself grateful because big boobs are like scrote magnets, and my more well endowed friends are constantly having their hearts broken by NVM who pretended to be emotionally attached just to cop a feel.

I can't imagine how hard it must be to have large breasts - never knowing if they're interested in you or if they're fetishizing your body, all the horrific gross attention you get, just, ugh.
[–]WeremaidFDS Newbie 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, sometimes I’ll wear a new top which turns out to be more revealing than I realized in the changing room, or my boobs will be bigger right before my period, and I’ll see the way strangers (even women) leer at me from every walk of life, and I hate it. It doesn’t make me feel sexy or confident, it makes me feel irrelevant, as though I’ve been overshadowed by my breasts.
[–]fdssavedmylifeFDS Newbie 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ugh. Have you seen one of the many threads asking how men feel about small boobs? It’s always written by a pickme or a man larping as woman, just so redditors can act like big strong heroes saying, “don’t worry ladies, we’ll have sex with literally anything with a pulse” like that’s cute and charming. Then all the pickmes fall all over themselves with gratitude that men would dare brave sexual encounters with a small-chested woman. 🙄 It’s so gross.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Omg, or the many MANY 'unpopular opinions' of SmAlL BrEaStS ArE BeTtEr karma farming that manages to put down all female body types?
Then you get all the 'as long as she has a fine ass to make up for her deficiencies' and 'its not a deal breaker' comments for small boobs?
It's amazing how many ways men find to make women hate their own bodies. In the end NO ONE is good enough.
[–]fdssavedmylifeFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s terrible! I saw a comment similar to “it’s okay if you have an ass” and some poor women responded “Oh... :c”
Noooo girl who cares what some loser on Reddit thinks??? But I can’t judge because I’ve been there. I used to read those threads and feel so relieved that men would still have sex with my small breasted, chubby, hip dip-having monstrosity of a body /s

He may have his own man boobs to comfort him now as he stress eats and binge drinks to fill his own vacuous soul. Or, at the very least, he's simply not as charming as he may once have been because, no matter how skilled a narc is in generating rationalizations to justify their heinous behavior, there's really no coming back from that.
Studies show that it's only by virtue of being able to convince themselves and others of the righteousness of their ill deeds that perpetrators are able to retain thar "new car smell" with which to trick fresh victims or con bystanders. I had this explained to me as a dv survivors' advocate as a warning about how bat.terers-- when forced to sit silently in court in the presence of armed marshals and listen to victims describing assaults from the witness stand-- tend to implode and can sometimes go postal, no matter how squeaky clean, charming, innocent and calm they try to appear in trial.
I'm guessing there's really no way to live down what he did to you and it's going to be a palpable vibe, a smell he can never wash off.

A week ago, I saw that horrifying security video of a man punching and kicking an Asian woman on a street in NYC. The huge security officer just watches it happen from inside the building. Other men in the building walk to the front of the building. They’re just watching it happen. One of the men actually shuts the door to the building. He‘s a couple of feet away from this suffering woman, and he does nothing.
I think about that video everyday multiple times a day. My heart is broken for BIPOC. My heart is broken for women.
Men are complete garbage.
They don’t provide security even when their actual job is security. They’re cowards. They’re cruel.

Ah, is that what it is? I never have the urge to coo and do the thing women always seem to do around random baby and children. I only find my brother and sister cute as babies, but not some random kids. It always make me feel like the weird one out - because society tells me women must coo and flock to babies and kids.

I had this same thought. The pronouns are gender neutral.
But the other users are right. It’s almost always a man that leaves a woman with a health condition.
The stories that women share on this subreddit are meant to open the eyes of other women. We realize that we all have similar stories. That despite the constant campaign from men, the truth is we’re not crazy or asking for too much. They are.

[–]2340000Ruthless Strategist 50 points51 points52 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
There seems to be an exchange of sex and security. Women are taught that sex is the "small" price for "security". Which isn't security at all, but male validation that you're desirable. And desirability is a social currency.
Your comment made me wonder about the cynicism with which women approach friendships with other women. Since we are told other women are our competition, we know that sex/intimacy can't be leveraged to keep the relationship. And therefore we believe it has no value🤷.

Porn has convinced men they have unlimited women waiting for them and that marriage is holding them back from "exploring" and "new experiences".
In reality, if they just stop being shitheads they can have sex for life.
[–]2340000Ruthless Strategist 31 points32 points33 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Spot on. C'mon, 7 virgins in heaven??😂. We've also seen history "gift" multiple women to wealthy men.
But that idea has been commercialized by porn. Women have always been treated as a commodity to be bought and sold when men are "ready to settle down". And we're supposed to melt at the idea of men getting so tired with their lives that they eventually propose so a woman will cook ,clean, have sex, and be his therapist? Nah.

Can you tell me more about the every other weekend flag? I just curved someone hard for a boundary issue after exactly one date who has this situation going on, and I want to hear more. New to the divorcee scene. Could have saved me leaving the house and exposing myself to the boundary situation. This is a purely selfish learning request, so understandable if you aren't up for explaining.
ETA: A cursory internet search says poor parenting results in visitation only on the part of one parent and not shared custody. Fathers who get every other weekend are leaving the bulk of raising the children work to the mothers and are being lazy (sounds about right). I'm thinking this is it. Probs part of it yea (and obvs problematic for all its own reasons).
I honestly think it's as simple as she has not understood why these terms came into fashion to begin with (lgbtq movement/gender neutrality).
And I'd agree with the post that was made about "partner" here not too long ago: She'd probably argue the classic "wELl cAusE boYfRiEnDs aRe fOr tEenaGerS" aka she thinks "boyfriend/girlfriend" is too immature to say -> internalized shame over not being married with a husband at 30+ years of age, plus she gave this relationship her everything as if he was her husband.
Wild speculations but that's what I personally found to be behind those women who excessively stressed that he's their pArTneR in the past 9/10 times when I investigated and asked about the nature of the relationship. Trend to artificially overcompensate ? Possible to the point of probable.
I'm not married myself (thank fuck 😌) and I never had a problem saying "boyfriend". It's not a downgrade of the relationship at all.
Then again: I grew up in metropolitan Western Europe in the 90s and 00s with a lioness of a single, working mother who did it all, and a working grandmother.
Quite different from US midwest where you're basically a child until you are married.

He doesn't love her, he loves her boobs. Apparently he doesn't realize that those can be reconstructed.
This man hates her so much that he's going to subject her to the stress of moving whilst undergoing treatment for breast cancer. And all because he's afraid her boobs won't look the same.
It always comes down to "muh penis," sadly.
Exhibit 1 as to why you don't move in with a man until you are married, and you certainly don't buy a house with them unless you are married. That "piece of paper" protects your rights.

I honestly think its more insidious then that... He doesn't want to support her emotionally or go through any hard times. Most men are fair weather partners.

Besides 1 little dinky piece of sperm, what do men have to offer women?
He ghosted her via text while closing on their house! He didn't even say "we are broken up", he said "never speak to me again". It doesn't get worse than this. Dunno if we can even say the trash took itself out.
[–]WhoDatSayDatFDS Newbie 22 points23 points24 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
First of all, DO NOT BUY THE HOUSE! I am a licensed agent and I don’t care what you have lined up in the way of movers, plans of where to live, etc. DO NOT BUY THE HOUSE! Do not sign. This is not a partnership that is okay to be in. Buying a house is a major investment. You could set yourself up to be in financial ruin. There is no scenario I can think of where you turn out okay! Maybe he executes a Quit Claim Deed (gifting it to you) immediately after closing, but why would he? He’s still on the loan. And you still have to sign everything BEFORE he signs that. .... please, please, please... do not sign. Lose your earnest money... that doesn’t matter... please do not go to closing. Call the loan officer, call the agent, call the attorney. Tell them you will not sign, you will not be there, come what may.
Secondly, I tried to break up with my LVM when I was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago. We had been on again/off again for years and I knew what I would need as a patient. Any time I am ever sick I just want/need to be left alone. I also knew that wasn’t fair to him in a non-committed relationship. He is high maintenance, thrives on a lot of attention. [okay, he’s codependent and narcissist but we’ll leave that alone for now... I didn’t have FDS at the time to OPEN MY EYES and stop giving people the benefit of the doubt all the time!]
Fast forward, he insisted we stay together. Wouldn’t even have a conversation about it.
Then I’m past it. I’m done. About 6 months after my last radiation treatment he breaks up with me. He didn’t want to break up before I went through my treatments because how that would then make HIM LOOK.
suzy_ko ~ I understand the devastation, feelings of abandon, and being heartbroken. I get it. I truly do. :’( I’m crying over here knowing how you feel.
This is a highly edited version of my story. I could tell you all the NV/LV behavior he showed... just trust me when I say that it’s better to have an open space to heal in than to have a Scrote in your presence that you keep hoping will act better.
Lean into it. Feel it. Til you don’t feel it anymore. It will be a while, but it will happen. This is part of your catharsis toward healing. He is not a part of that healthy version of you.
YOU have dodged a HUGE bullet. Someone who cannot compassionately help you talk through a major medical decision in your life (lumpectomy vs mastectomy vs nothing at all) is NOT someone to partner in life with!!!
Please DM me, if you need someone to scream to or cry at. I completely get it. I really do. .... And, really... you’ve got this. Such a gutsy post.
I’ve got a lot of tips that helped me through chemo. I’d be super honored to share them with you [and anyone else here who needs them].

Another case of trash taking itself out. Now she has one less tumor poisoning her life. And she knows from the start she's alone and has nobody to count on but herself.
He could have decided to play the nice guy role and just abandon her in the middle of her treatment, when she was weak and reliant upon him.
The comment about his daughter in the same pool thing was just the cherry on the shitty cake tho...
Who would want to spend a second with such a morron!

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2020 and found out I’m stage 4 in December. I’m married and my husband is doing everything right so far, but the things I’ve seen in support groups and the surprise/praise from nurses and friends when my husband does the very minimum, like coming to my appointments, is just unreal. This woman will be better off enduring even the most difficult treatment by herself than while dealing with the emotional baggage of a shitty man.

Story reads like a duped woman who was sold a marriage dream and took on role of step mommy and bangmaid.
This was written in a very deliberate way with the intention of hiding the “partners” gender. It’s not an easy read; it’s verbal gymnastics.
She’s protecting HIM.
Or could be the OP is trying to get unbiased situational advice, without naming him as a man. Which is sad she felt she had to write it this way.
We’ve seen this story before where wild suggestions pop up in the comments like allowing him a girlfriend, dangerous surgery, and gaslighting her failure to cOmMuNiCaTe are all rampant.
So so sad.

I work in pathology, and it is absolutely horrifying how often I see this (particularly in breast cancer cases). I always go through relevant patient history before I begin processing a case, particularly a mastectomy or lumpectomy, and the amount of women who end up opting for the lumpectomy (higher risk of positive margins) after "discussion with family/husband" makes me feel sick. I had one bil mastectomy case involving a very young woman with aggressive breast cancer that started the process engaged and progressed through it single. I still think about her every couple of days, and all I can really do now is hope she is thriving on her own. A partner who leaves you in your hardest moments and cares more about "saving the tatas!" than a woman's life is worth less than garbage.

Not surprised. NVM gave me a cold then disappeared because he “didn’t want to catch any cooties”. 5 days later he resurfaced when he thinks I am better so I can “hang out and go on a date with him.” I dumped him because that gave me a prelude to the future. I am sorry for this woman, but in most cases, the warning signs were there from the get go. We just chose not to see them. I hope she is surrounded by a tried of women and she fight Ca and wins.

Sadly it’s just a statistical fact that women are more likely to be abandoned when they’re diagnosed with cancer.
I’m not kidding, there’s a comparative research study from the NIH library of medicine: Female gender was found to be a strong predictor of partner abandonment in patients with serious medical illness

He wants a bang maid to manage his kids, but having cancer is not allowed! She's let go like a damn employee.
Remember, ladies! There's an actual research study that shows that men are more likely to dump their wives/longtime partners going through serious medical problems than women. Read more here.

So typical. I had to go through chemo and a guy who just recently confessed his love to me behaved in the same manner - lots of support for a few weeks and then slow fade.
I'm thriving and kicking but that shit show of him slithering away like a coward certainly didn't make my recovery as great as it should be.
It was hilarious to watch and cringy at the same time, like that episode of South Park where Eric Cartman thought he was a ghost and would slowly back away, doing those weird hand gestures. Dude, I see what you are doing lol.

Wow don't men have any feelings att all? So the only thing he actually loved with her was her breast and not what's inside of her. So he actually cared shit about the person she is. Total sociopath, I don't get how he could fake care and loving her for 2 years and they even had kids. Reading this actually makes feel sick, this is so inhumane, is he even human? You just don't do something like this to another human being and specially how can you lie this badly to the person your supposed to love, the mother of your children? So men are just playing theater and nothing they say when it comes to love and feelings is actually real? I just don't get this, he seems like a robot rather than a human and why most men probably would do better with a robot sexdoll rather than an actual human partner because many of them clearly don't care shit what's inside of her. Then they couln't traumatise a person with actual feelings, though they can't of course play their mental games then

Ugh ugh ugh. 20 yrs ago one of my closest friends lost her sister to BC that she’d been fighting for years. I had only known her second husband/the kids step dad. After she died and my friend was telling me about the first husband and how her sister was diagnosed when their youngest child was 3 days old. And he left that day. Said HE couldn’t cope with losing HER so it was best all round if he detached now and left. Moved in with a “friend from work” who was female, 15 yrs younger and who he married the moment their divorce came through. She lived for 14 years, probably 12 really decent healthy years and 2 hard ones at the end. She had a wonderful second marriage, a beautiful relationship with her kids, family and friends. She was SO much better off without him but fuck me, how cold and selfish do you have to be to leave a woman who’s just had the defining diagnosis of her life and has kids who are 4, 2 and a newborn. She was a total Queen and I shall be raising a glass to her when we visit the oak tree we planted when she died later this year.

There were a bunch of “they” pronouns and no “he” pronouns so maybe this was a LVW that dumped her partner? The lack of gendered pronouns makes it a little ambiguous.

Do you think it's more plausible that a woman would abandon a man because he has to go through mastectomy than a man abandoning a woman because she has to go through mastectomy?
Statistically speaking, the chances of the first scenario are miniscule and we have a very solid reason to believe that OP is a woman with breast cancer and her male partner has abandoned her, not vice-versa.

One would never use this sort of tortured grammar rather than the personal pronouns unless the speaker were actively attempting to conceal the gender of the person about whom they were speaking.
The partner is definitely male.
