My sister did this. Her bf begged her for a kid, BEGGED, ASAP, he is getting old, and as soon as she got pregnant, he started taking back. Suddenly marriage was “too much pressure”, he did promised this and that but now he was reconsidering. So she went and terminated the pregnancy. He cried his eyes out. Sobbed and begged again.

[–]adeecomeforthFDS Newbie 369 points370 points371 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

WTF! I am so glad she terminated the pregnancy, he thought he had her on lock and could start being shitty.

[–]AmeliaEmiliaEmmaFDS Newbie 293 points294 points295 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It was difficult on her too, but she is much better now. She would call me and cry asking if it was the right choice. She is sure now that it was. It’s sad to think how many women got trapped and had no choice. Stuck for life sharing custody with low life losers.

[–]adeecomeforthFDS Newbie 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am so glad she got away from him!

Normalize this. Women need to have full, unquestioned control over which fetuses we devote the resources of our bodies to and need to be willing to exercise it in this ruthless a way if necessary. Hopefully it won't ever be for any of us, but if it is.... no apologies. This level of sharkishness and unrepentant preservation of our time and bodies is what it will take to fix things for women in the world.

And yes, while very unlikely to occur to me because of other selection mechanisms I use and because I live in a country less backward than some re: women's rights, if it ever did occur, I would absolutely do this, hate to break it to skeptics. It's a fully reasonable thing to do, no matter how men try and spin it. Remember, the things men are most eager to spin as Mean and Bad things for women to do, are almost invariably the tools and attitudes that will free us.

Honestly, more than that, if I was ever raped and forced to carry the child to term, I'd more than likely make use of the nearest foundling box or equivalent asap. Shitty men, of whatever degree, will NEVER win with me in terms of reproductive success in any way that requires even an ounce of my cooperation... or breast milk. Sorry not sorry.

[–]august-27FDS Newbie 640 points641 points642 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

HAHAHAHA you treat women like shit, you forfeit access to our wombs! You don't deserve to procreate!

He’s probably punching the air and crying. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: men get us pregnant to have a hold on us. It’s typically about control.

These men want their “legacy” to carry on without any of the responsibility. Good for her, sis had to do what she had to do to ensure her future isn’t tied with an lvm.

[–]Academic_Snow_7680 313 points314 points315 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Single mothers need to start putting their own names on their kids. I bet that would incentivise a lot of guys to put in the work, heck I'm sure it will incentivize a lot of grandfathers too.

[–]Sakurablossom90FDS Newbie 133 points134 points135 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

And if we put their names on our kids it's against the law to change it to our own surname!!!

I have on a family court document that if I have found to have changed childs surname from his then I will fined and maybe even imprisoned. Wouldn't be surprising if a male made that law up.

[–]Sakurablossom90FDS Newbie 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes she will have to wait until she's 18 to change it legally.

Unfortunately she's not even allowed to make the choice sooner as I may have swayed her choice 🧐 she's been saying since she was tiny that she wants the same name as me before he even came crawling back into her life.

[–]ButterfliesHurricaneFDS Newbie 83 points84 points85 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

All mothers should put their own name on their kids. Single or not.

[–]pileofraccoonsFDS Newbie 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But also… now my ex wants to change his last name to mine so it “matches our kid”. Ugh.

[–]OrangeyPandaFDS Apprentice 334 points335 points336 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'd do the same, a fetus doesn't have anything to do with a man until it's a born breathing child. Women need to protect their own lives and futures first. If men don't like that, well it's INCREDIBLY easy to not treat your pregnant spouse like shit.

So many men think as soon as they impregnate a woman he owns her and she is trapped, nope.

[–]PossibleCookFDS Apprentice 265 points266 points267 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I wish most woman did this. Stop having children with shitty men!

[–]cheezbrodFDS Newbie 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I also wish more women did this, but I think the reason why it doesn’t happen is because of the value the woman also places on the fetus.

It’s no longer just half of her LVM, iT’s hAlF oF hEr. And that’s why they can’t justify putting themselves above a couple of cells - so they doom the future child and themselves to a life of less than.

[–]PossibleCookFDS Apprentice 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. Sadly the huge stigma against abortion also plays into it. Even people who are pro choice can be guilted and shamed by a society that places so much importance on the whole thing

No...

Seriously, men have next to 0% of the effort involved in pregnancy, I'll say it a million times.

I'm so happy that woman cut it off at the knees and chose her OWN life rather than become a slave to both the man AND the child.

[–]scorchedsouIFDS Newbie 463 points464 points465 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good on her for realising before having children with that man. A lot of women aren't as lucky.

[–]CarneliancatFDS Newbie 136 points137 points138 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good for her. She avoided passing on his inferior genes AND freed herself from a lifetime of being attached to a LVM. She will now be able to have children with a man who is worthy of her and the future kids. She is the one with the womb, and gets to decide who she will allow to gestate.

[–]JustTrynaSleep266Throwaway Account 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can’t even imagine having the kid of someone like that. It makes me sad to know girls who have never known what a HVM is and set the bar so low for scummy dudes

[–]lansburysodaFDS Newbie 691 points692 points693 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

The words “pregnant” and “girlfriend” shouldn’t even be next to each other. Good for her

[–]up_d00tFDS Newbie 346 points347 points348 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Allowing someone 50% of the DNA of your child shouldn't happen without a full financial, legal, emotional, physical commitment to making the relationship work permanently. You don't want to be at your child's wedding in 30years when the ex shows up with his 4th wife.

[–]rysedgFDS Newbie 112 points113 points114 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Yes!! Or the opposite - the Ex shows up and embarrasses you! My Queen of a friend got pregnant by some young LVM when she was 14. He disappeared, she raised her daughter alone (with help from family) and lo and behold he reappears when Daughter is grown. Shows up at Daughter’s wedding, embarrassing my friend to death with his long scraggly beard, looking decades older than his age due to self-induced depravities. Now -my friend was surrounded by friends, her adoring 10-years younger husband, and her beautiful new twin daughters (I said she was a QUEEN) - but (although the wedding was beautiful and she was so proud of her first-born child) she was MORTIFIED by the LVM’s presence and past association with her.

EDIT: When my friend was 14, this LVM was 17/18. When I wrote he was young I meant that he wasn’t out of high school… but it was still an age gap that does matter at that age. When Daughter was getting married she was roughly 26 and my friend was roughly 40. LVM had started coming around when Daughter was in her early 20’s… and I believe Daughter had invited him to the wedding. My friend did not oppose this, and handled the wedding with grace, beauty and style. She was just INTERNALLY embarrassed and humiliated that this nasty, filthy, early 40’s but looking in his 60’s, trashy guy was the thing that had changed the entire course of her life.

Good. Complacency is a man's worst habit. Hopefully she will get to know what type of man he is before she gets pregnant but many guys tend to lie like hell until the woman is trapped.

There is nothing wrong with essentially canceling a pregnancy so you don’t have a baby. Abortion is not wrong.

Yes, women can and do terminate a pregnancy because the father-to-be is not or no longer supportive. Why tie yourself to a man if you don’t want to, just because you’re pregnant?

You have a chance to get away. To not have someone in your life that you want to get away from. Because otherwise you’re stuck dealing with them for at least 18 years.

Having a baby is hard. Raising a child is hard. If you’ve decided you don’t want this man as your partner, you will be a single mom, which is exponentially harder.

[–]frustratedanon123FDS Newbie 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who cares if they think we're horrible monsters? We do not exist to please them.

[–]Unfit_NeedleworkerFDS Newbie 32 points33 points34 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We don’t really care what they think.

[–]Unfit_NeedleworkerFDS Newbie 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is essentially why FDS exists. So that we can not get put in these situations in the first place but men can be deceiving. Once we figure out their true colors, we shouldn’t have to be stuck with them for life.

[–]LetsGetin_FormationFDS Newbie 64 points65 points66 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The same men who call us “horrible monsters” are simultaneously jacking off to anime underage incest rape monster porn and this is not even close to an exaggeration.

Every time you worry about looking bAd to a man understand his depravity knows no bounds. Most men will sexualize their daughters friends and sons girlfriends (if not their own children). This is the reality. If it wasn’t like this before, their porn addiction has reworked their brains to make it so. I’m not carrying and raising a child for man who will sexualize the other kids and teens my child brings to the house.

And I don’t think it’s fair to say “HVW wont experience LVM during pregnancy” because men change after marriage and kids ALL the time.

Scarily enough, the mask doesn’t always slip before marriage and pregnancy. He might have some human incompatibilities but real abusive deal breakers can show up anytime and I think it’s smart to use this space to share one taboo thought - if it’s safe enough to terminate a pregnancy if your man switches up, don’t feel bad about doing so.

Sure some comments here may come off as as a jester but there is truth behind every comment.

And I actually see where you’re coming from. Perhaps another discourse is needed about this post centered around evidence and anecdotal experience. But let’s not pretend men don’t coerce, bribe, threaten, and abuse pregnant women into getting abortions every single day. If the same men who condemn this post knocked up one of their FWB they didn’t respect or like, they would be cornering her and threatening her into an abortion SO FAST. Just look at Tristan Thompson’s recent situation for the blueprint.

Abortion is only evil when it benefits the woman. Most men who abuse their pregnant wives resent her and the child anyway. Women are no longer martyrs for broken men. Vetting is the best way to avoid this, but it’s not fool proof because people change.

[–]WorkaholicPartyFDS Newbie 53 points54 points55 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They are already thinking we are assholes though. Also, women are free to change their minds even if it doesn't happen "the proper way". She just realized that this man who hasn't been answering any of her desperate calls for weeks would be a terrible role model for her kid, she'd be chained to him forever despite this guy being a deadbeat dad. Men literally baby trap women to have them hooked and cockblocked forever. She just saved herself and the unborn two lifetimes of trauma. Should she have vetted harder and earlier? Yes, but now she officially cut the cord and will never have to deal with him and his spawn again. It's in our right, we control our bodies and we decide whose offspring we will carry and he doesn't deserve a child.

And again for the people who hate us, giving them ammo and whatnot: we're ruthlessly vetting so we don't have to go through the pain of abortion. It's us who are paying with our bodies, men can fuck right off.

Forcing a women to go through a pregnancy legally gives her fewer rights than a corpse. Abortion is an absolute fundamental right, and it is anti-female to suggest otherwise

Edit: if you're looking for more resources, look at the violinist argument. Normally a way to 'help' men understand why they cannot force us to bare their spawn without stepping on some all over pretty important fundamental ethics. If you're new to defending the right to abort, its a pretty strong argument.

[–]PerspicaciousCatFDS Newbie 177 points178 points179 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pregnancy is incredibly hard on the body and is life-changing. Abortion is healthcare and a woman’s right.

You cannot be a radical feminist and be anti-choice. It goes against everything radical feminism stands for.

Edit: also I saw you edited your comment that mentioned you’re religious. Religion has no place dictating what a woman does in regards to her personal healthcare decisions.
