While this issue is often raised by concern trolls, it really is a problem - though not for the reasons feminists give.

Calling a woman a bitch, or a slut, or making fun of her weight is neither sexist nor oppressive. However, it is rude and counter-productive.

Rudeness and anger in an argument cedes the moral high ground to your opponent. The goal of arguing with a feminist should not be to make them feel bad, or to change their mind - but to influence the audience.

For every person who posts on the Internet, there are a hundred passively observing. It is these people to whom you should really be talking, even though you're addressing someone else.

In an argument, the side that stays cool, rational and fact-based looks a lot better in the long term. The side that yells, insults, and puts down its opponent may gain a cheer squad, but ultimately it's far less convincing.

The other main reason to avoid name-calling is that it plays into the feminists' narrative.

They want to depict the MRM as angry, abusive and potentially violent. Angry and abusive words give them fuel for this false portrayal, and draw attention away from calm, rational arguments.

TL;DR: If we want to win, we should stay calm and cool.
