It's a common nerd revenge fantasy that the hot jocks and blonde cheerleaders are all morons, but in the real world there is no reason to think this is the truth. It's a "just world" way of thinking fuelled by moms who tell their kids "don't worry, you're smarter than all those popular kids and they'll be working at a gas station while you're a big time CEO".

You need to flesh out your argument. Simply saying "most women seem to go gaga over men who're intelligent" is not convincing.

In my experience though this is false. Women are attracted to intelligence too. Nothing in the world says a man can't be tall, have good looks or status, and also be intelligent.

Even in my personal experience my ex was practically a genius and my current guy is pretty smart too (above average intelligence and highly intelligent but not genius level). I find both men more attractive for intelligence I'm addition to other things. Actually the primary reason I found my ex attractive was his intelligence. My experience is not all that uncommon among women who themselves are intelligent and value intelligence.

I find intelligence to be an attractive trait. I've crushed on men who otherwise would be considered below average because they impressed me with their intelligence. The opposite also happens - I find unintelligent men to be unnatractive too.

Just happens to be my nature. I've seen other women report the same. Possibly not all women, but I wouldn't say intelligence is universally attractive nor either unnatractive. It depends on the chick.

no, i'd say that a lot of intelligent men in the USA intentionally do a lot of cringeworthy, disgusting, and unattractive things. and they refuse to change themselves.

I'm a grad student at an engineering university, so i'm surrounded by very intelligent people. some of those intelligent guys are very attractive because of how they present themselves and how they spend their time. those guys dress well, stay fit, and are social. they have nice haircuts and put effort into hygiene and grooming. they wear nice shoes and fashionable glasses. they are not negative and they do not talk shit about women. they have hobbies and interests outside of porn and videogames. they talk to women and ask them out on dates. they do not stalk women or do creepy shit. they do not flip the fuck out if a girl rejects them.

all of the intelligent guys who don't get laid are unattractive because of their personalities and presentation. they tend to be really out of shape and have really bad posture (!!!) because they spend all of their time sitting. they tend to have poor grooming and hygiene. so many bad haircuts, disgusting unkempt facial hair, greasy hair, dirty long fingernails, zits because they don't wash their faces, and untrimmed nose hair flapping in the breeze. and don't forget the unibrows. they often wear clothes too big for them, and their garb is usually plain and neutral. they wear unflattering glasses and dorky/filthy shoes. overall, their appearance is somewhere between gross and forgettable. They tend to be negative and socially inert. they don't make people laugh. they do not ask other people about themselves. on the extreme end, some are obviously misogynistic. they tend to have hobbies and experiences that are only relatable and interesting to people who are exactly like themselves. they speak like they've never attempted to learn how to speak well, which is no longer excusable when you get to be graduate-aged.

in short, those intelligent guys who don't get any girls do not put any effort into being attractive to women. a lot of them could be attractive if they got their asses to work, but they won't.

This is an immature view. Intelligence is neither attractive or unattractive. It's an abstract nebulous concept. If your still in high school then the physical attractiveness of the football players is obvious.

Intellectual attraction makes up the bulk of status. It is the ability to pursue a successful career and the conscientiousness to actually do so. It is also social ability.

I’ve known too many insanely bright drug dealers and athletes and enough down right retarded engineers and college professors to think otherwise

Intelligence is basically found in any niche in this life, it’s usually the successful in any specific area of expertise wether that’s drugs or NFL; or alternatively the hermits and mystics who don’t mind taking the social L and just lives for research, contemplation and spreading loving acceptance

But yeah being good at math, being good at any standardized school subject at all does not make a person intelligent imo

It's neither here nor there. Most people want someone who shares their values and can communicate with. If you're very intelligent, the barrier to your success will be learning to relate to "the cheerleader" who's intellectual fortitude stops at an encyclopedic knowledge of Kylie Jenner's new make-up line. If all you want to talk about is baroque architecture, she will not be able to relate to you.

People's here tend to think being very intelligent is bad. It isn't necessarily, though, people's counter argument that the jocks aren't actually stupid is just a dumb circlejerk solipsism in the other direction. The jock IS dumb, it's just not a handicap to him because the women he's attracting are even stupider.

If most people are stupid, then it stands to reason that most of them are only going to find stupid people to mate with. Let's say that they're the 80%. There are exceptions who fantasize about someone who can read a book. Let's say that they're the 20%. They really want someone else within the rest of the 20%, but it's difficult to meet those people due to odds. Odds are that a number of them will just hook up with the 80% for sheer convenience. It sucks to be in the 20%.

Second, this is a false dichotomy as many criminals are actually intelligent. Or even serial killers for that matter, look at Ted Bundy he got 200 love letters a day in prison but before he got caught he was in law school and about to become a politician, he was not stupid.

Intelligence is very attractive. I love dissecting movies/literature/tv/society with him just as much as I loved watching him play sports (but he also loved watching my sports so...). Hell, I even love his nerdy knowledge when it comes to video games/comics because I like video games and comics. Wouldn't have married my husband if we didn't click on an intellectual level, no matter how cute is ass is.

Intelligence is not inherently "attractive," but it is selected for. You either have to be highly attractive or highly crafty to survive, and that is why the intelligent people/animals DO survive.

Intelligence is not unattractive, it is just largely irrelevant. Women like guys who are "witty" which is not the same as intelligence, and women do not like spergy guys although that does not necessarily go hand in hand with intelligence.

At best, it is a bonus or is only appreciated collaterally in terms of a) how much money the guy makes or b) his fame or other notable accomplishments achieved by way of his intelligence.

No normal woman goes cruising the MENSA meetings nor would they cringe at the mere fact of a guy being a member.

I don't know how I ended up on this sub.

But, growing up, the my school's football team was comprised primarily of driven, intelligent, successful young men. Obviously a subset of them were knuckleheads, but most were not. Many of them went on to pursue engineering, biology, chemistry, etc. in college.

Brain and brawn are not mutually exclusive.
