Well, for me, the shorter guys always had a great face, nice lips & eyes. They had either deep, intelligent & driven personalities or fun & adventurous personalities but they all had a good sense of humor.

Years ago, I remember my mom saying that there were short guys at the military gym whom she had found attractive due to them being buff and in shape (before meeting my dad of course). I’m over 6’ but I’ve seen short guys who get new dates every other weekend while I’m stumbling to get more than 1 date a month while single. And mostly again they’re pretty jacked, like the drummer in my band. To me, that seems to be the key for shorter guys who have an active dating life is that they’re jacked and shredded. Unless you’re super wealthy or the funniest party animal within 200 miles, I would focus on trying to hit the gym, get some coaches or guidance from YouTube, and try to get your physique buffed up since that seems to always help a ton with guys on the shorter side. Look at Sylvester Stallone who’s short; his wife was hot even before he was famous. Of course work on the other things to try to better yourself tooi.e. have a successful career, fun hobbies, a good social life, etc.

I find a lot of shorter guys might have another really great feature they’ve honed like they’re very confident and funny or they’re very artsy and creative or intelligent (or a couple bedroom skills ;)). When we look for ways to make up for our (perceived) shortcomings we end up getting great at other things. When we tick all the physical boxes fairly easily and early in life people can get lazy because they can kinda coast on their outside appearance.

This tbh....just look at shortcut a.k.a Peter dinklage he is so short but sweeps women's off like a vaccum cleaner...women's are not attracted to his height but his charm ,personality , & his character . When he talks he talks like an alpha ,with his chest out and great posture.. Women's are naturally going to be drawn to him. Most women's wanna guy like Peter in their life ...a sweet cute puppy..who could also be a alpha beast.👍

He has an issue when the roles are reversed because women are much pickier than men. This is proven. Yes men value physical attraction but a man’s standard for it is much lower than a woman’s. A study from match.com in 2013 showed women valued 80% of the men in there as below average. The number is likely worse in 2020. The study was deleted after the Alek Minassian van attack in Toronto.

My first girlfriend was pretty ugly, and i didn’t really realize until a while after we broke up. Obviously attraction makes a difference, but I don’t really see how attractive a girl is as a dealbreaker.
My problem isn’t that girls like taller guys, it’s just that a lot of them won’t even consider me because of a few missing inches.
[–]BaabyBear 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Look at it like this. You might prefer thin girls but does that mean you won’t have a chubby one ? No not if she’s cool af and u guys click right? Girls are like this. There are some things you can change. And some things you can’t. 5”6 is kind of short but it’s not what will drive girls away. But a sulky persona definitely will.
A good attitude and social skills trumps physical appearance after 10 min anyways.
What I’m trying to say is that even if you grew 6” overnight you’re not about to have more luck with the ladies. So it’s no use being upset and focusing on it. There are skills and traits you can practice that WILL give you more luck with the ladies so focus on those man
[–]dovakooon[S] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Do you have siblings? If so, do you act a lot differently when with them than with other people?
A lot of us create this veil of fakeness to get through our day. It looks something like a quiet, shy version of yourself then you get home and relax and it comes off.
Essentially all the skills you’re developing are along the lines of bringing out that ‘home version’ of yourself, and amplifying your weak spots.
Without talking to you I wouldn’t know what your weak spots are, but I can guess based on my own.
Bad posture, shitty/weak speaking voice, awkward social skills, subpar story telling skills.
Really these are the big dogs right here. And don’t let the simplicity fool you, you can’t just fix any of these in a day. But you can fix and improve them :)
I believe that once these 4 key skills are at least at an average level you’d have better results than if you magically grew 6”
[–]ispaidermaen 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The main thing is being physically fit. Even more than height. Work out.
Be social. Have many male and female friends. Fewer friends means fewer girls.
Be a nice person. Do not be mean or hurtful to others.

Mate I was about 5’10 when I was 18, I’m 6’1 now that I’m 24 a lot of men hit a growth spurt in their early 20’s especially if you exercise/ run a lot I don’t want to give you false hope but it’s definitely possible you’ll hit another growth spurt
[–]SuperFly252 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I spent ages 17-23 waiting to grow another 2 inches and got nada lol. I'm 5'8" and have dated women from 5'3" - 5'10" so as long as you're in the same ballpark as them don't worry about it too much. Attraction is holistic and there're plenty of other ways to demonstrate your manhood.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I grew an inch and a half between 18 and 21. It's not common, but not unheard of either.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
One of my friends used to say this a lot. He saw height requirements on dating apps. But in person, he always did great. The thing is, men and women have requirements, but they're almost never true deal makers and breakers. For example, I can say I want a girl who likes traveling, 90's R and B, Asian food, Eric Andre Show, etc. And it might seem pretty specific, but I could end up not vibing with 100 girls who truly meet those "requirements." Height, hair color, education, etc, all pales in comparison to great in person chemistry. You can have 100 things in common, top 10 movies identical, and you get in the room and you feel nothing. So keep that in mind. Everything people say they want, it's theoretical, and you might walk into their life and they might think "I didn't know this is what I really wanted all along." So don't sweat it.
[–]nopetooclose 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Dude, your 18..you’re def gonna grow more, I do believe females have reached a mature height by 18-19 but for males that age is 22-23..look it up. And you will be fine, height is NOT that big of a deal!
[–]Indumentum97 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
Actually it is. Now i am not saying it's over, it's not too bad at 5'6" (i'm 5'6" myself) if you have enough game but still you will have it harder than someone who is 6'0" or 5'10" (average height). And i was 5'6" at 18 and i'm now 23 and i'm still 5'6". At 18 his chances of growing are very slim, maybe one or two inches is still possible.
There was a study / infograph stating that at 5'6" 22% of girls / women would date you vs. 91% for 5'10" and 99% for 6'0". So at 5'6" you have 1/5 of the potential dating pool of a 6'0" guy. And that's just height. If i find the picture i'll link it.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
People’s filters don’t always work in such an a binary way, though.
I’ve had several women spontaneously confess attraction, while also saying that they feel conflicted because they’re not into my race. I’m not exactly tall, either.
Overall looks and game are way more important. They’re also much more in your control.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’ve got some good news. There’s still hope brother! I was your height in high school too. I entered college shorter than one of my friends, but I worked out and ate a lot, now I’m taller than him at around 5’8.
Funny thing is, I got way more chicks in my freshman / sophomore year of college when I was 5’5 - 5’6 than I do now.
I was just way more confident back then I think.
[–]davidxxx24 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely...women's of all ages teens in their 20's and above all like short and fat guys ...just because of 2 things, they are confident and have charisma . They have got awesome personality...I rarely see good looking tall guys getting women's..it's always the fat & short guy who treats women's with respect..women's value men who are valuable . Personality is the most important thing a man needs in his life in order to get success with women's.
[–]rainingcatpoop 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Don't forget it's the other way around as well. Men often don't like to date women taller than them. It does suck and it's stupid but you can't really do anything about it so your going to have to accept it.
It does suck about the bullying as well but also keep in mind that kids/teenagers are kinda shitty in general and always try to find something to mock. You will find it's much less the case as an adult out there in the world and anyone who mocks you for it just isn't worth your time.
[–]Indumentum97 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Nowhere near it. Men are def open for taller women, not all of course, but for 95% of women being taller than the guy is a total dealbreaker. Men aren't that shallow / picky.
[–]rainingcatpoop 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hmmm that's probably somewhat true. Men and women are subjected to different societal standards and there are different factors which men are looking for versus women. It's to do with societal norms and expectations which kinda sucks for either party.
I don't think it's true that men are less picky / shallow than women. In fact if we go by societal norms women are probably less picky in general because the general perception is that what men bring to the relationship is to be the breadwinner which isn't really to do with looks.
In saying that once again screw societal norms they suck for everyone. I think we are lucky to live in a time where that is less of a thing then it used to be. If people want to find someone they are really compatible with and connect to, they should look beyond looks which can be kinda hard but is not imposaible

Yes. A woman deeply desires to look up at her man if i were to guess the evolutionary basis is that size typically equates to power. Its perfectly natural for women to desire what THEY perceive will "catch" them the most suitable guy for raising offspring. Doesn't mean the perceptions are right but you got to deal with it regardless or go gay.
Now for short-term hookups the rules are much more loose. If they're not looking for offspring then there rules for selecting a hookup is cultural and I can't advise you. But I know more about biology so that's my two bits.

Yes. As long as you're taller than the girl you're with then you're good. Some women obviously don't care. And some women obviously want guys to be signcnwficqntly taller
[–]misterandosan 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For long term partners yes and dont let anyone fool you otherwise.
If you're going to look at long term, you need to correlate the length of marriages with the actual height differences, or look at the success rate of marriages where the female is higher.
If there were 3 out of 500 where the female is taller, that could just be due to the average heights being way higher, or the fact that relatioships where the height differences rarely happens (Which is an indicator about initial attraction, which gets more taller people in the door not whether a relationship lasts)
[–]FinalPush 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah it’s definitely part of women’s biology because not to be brash but their biology is a need to be protected for her sake and the child’s. Naturally taller people come off as more protective and therefore more attractive. At the same time, I can’t talk about female biology without male biology. While women are wired to be extremely picky on a biological level, men would fuck almost anything to spread their seed. Men have lower standards of mating. All this is biology but the thing is, we are self-conscious enough to overcome even biological instincts and urges. The self-transcendent man would recognizing mating urges and dissipate them because we are more than our biology. Ideally, this would attract women that think the same, but even if not, practicing sexual discipline will be amongst the most beneficial things you can do as a young man.

I'm in the exact same boat. 5'6" male just like you. Your dating pool is more limited as women want men that are taller than them, but it isn't anything that is going to seriously hurt your game big time.
What country do you live in the world? If you live in the US or Canada, the average female height is 5'4" so you are already taller than like half of all the fish in the sea to catch. Plus that also means that there are plenty shorter than 5'4".
Average male height is 5'10" in both these countries too. You shouldn't let 4 inches define your masculinity.
If this stuff is really still making you insecure, you can always try dating southeast Asians if that is your type. A 5'6" male there is actually above average in most of those nations within that part of the world.

This. It's all about the sense that a taller guy than the woman shall provide a sense of security. Humans are social animals. Part of being attractive to women is having the potential to help them survive; being taller is one of them.
[–]pimpdaddykane18 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
tbh it does suck. I’m the same height as you (5’6-7ish) I’m pretty short I can give you what helped me a lil based on my perspective. My success with women is mostly because of other factors than my height. I’m not saying I’m Channing Tatum with the ladies. But Going to the gym and working out. It’s builds muscle and confidence;Learning social skills (one of the things I’m still working on but getting better at slowly.) learning in general new skills and hobbies that you like to do.
Literally invest in yourself as much as you can and women will invest in you. Think of yourself like a business. No one wants to buy any stock if they don’t see potential. Now I’m not gonna lie, every once in a while I see people taller than me and get down a little because I’m not that height but it is what it is. You can’t change that but you can change your mentality and perspective on the concept. Now with that being said,I usually try yoga, stretching whenever I remember to do it. One cause it helps your muscles and with everyday activities but also could help you grow if you you’re in your teens/ early 20s as you haven’t fully developed yet. Take that with a grain of salt though. I noticed also when I wear my Nike airmaxes I feel taller. That’s because technically I am. The shoes make me taller by little not a lot but enough where I notice. Same applies with timberlands, shoes similar to that with a big..........thick....... base. Posture as well make sure you stand up straight, trust me it’s a big difference in height compared to when you’re slouching.
At the end of the day though don’t do it for the women do it for yourself. And women will come if you put the effort in yourself naturally. Now of course you have to go out and approach as well but the concept applies. But it’s my perspective on the whole height thing. Hope it helps. Don’t beat yourself up too much about it
Usually when I feel down about my height I remember that my favorite artist is 5’6 as well and that makes me cheer up a lil seeing that somebody of my height can accomplish that much and be as tall as me.
( also sorry for the trash set up of the writing I usually don’t write a lot)

[–]GooseFeathered 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I wrote my comment before looking at yours and noticed we seem to generally make a few of the same point. Do you have a favorite style of clothing/shoe that you seem to wear?
[–]pimpdaddykane18 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I read your comment and agree. The similarities are because those things truly work just gotta apply them.
But as far as clothes I guess it would be classified streetwear/causal Nothing too fancy but I have been trying to dabble in the smart causal look. But for shoes I bought the adidas ultraboost. And I HIGHLY recommend a pair. The shoes are comfy. I ran track with it, as you step you won’t feel the ground as hard as normal shoes, but you also feel the bounce back very nicely. Now it’s just a my work shoes and when I switch between the ultra boost and my other shoes you definitely feel the difference between shoes on your legs. The other pair I recently got into are airmaxes most of them are gorgeous especially the air max 90 and 97s are my favorite and it’s just happens to make you look taller as well so it’s a plus.

I don’t know how to counter my height
[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link
Well you'll have to work a lot harder to compensate for it. Being tall is an automatic feature of security. It makes women feel safer to have people that are bigger than a lot of other men around them. If you want to communicate that women will be safe in your company, you'll have to make them feel comfortable and show that your height doesn't mean you'll be unsuccessful in life by having a good job, being ambitious and assertive, and being generally confident in who you are.
[–]dovakooon[S] 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link
I hate that so much, that I have to do so much extra shit just so that women can see me as “good enough” or as valuable as other men.
[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, I know it sucks, but relationships, despite what everyone says, are mostly about personal fulfillment. Everyone wants someone who is going to make their lives better in some way, whether it be enhancing their quality of life by living in better houses in safer neighborhoods, or by having someone who just makes them feel good. There is very little selfless love in relationships these days. It's all transactional and dependent on how we make other feels, or how others make us feel.
If you don't like that, then do it for yourself, not for someone else. You'll never be happy otherwise.
[–]OrganicHearing 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Some taller guys have to do “extra shit” in order to be valuable as well. Just because you’re 6ft tall doesn’t always mean you will get pussy. I’ve seen tall guys who look fine but still struggle. If you don’t have game, you won’t get anywhere at the end of the day.

What is a “game” and what makes it more important?
[–]Keshan_R 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Game is something like your attitude/confidence when interacting with the opposite sex. If you have "more game", you will tend to be perceived as more attractive overall and vice versa for "less game".
Imagine it as being really smooth in conversation, for example.
[–]Indumentum97 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"Game" is something you need to have in order to attract women. It shows your confidence. You know what women want in a man and youre overall pretty confident and charming.
But you can build that. Height on the other hand... nothing you can do about it.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
6ft is a small advantage.
6ft2 is life on easy mode
[–]dambachern 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
There’s your problem. You’re allowing your potential romantic partners to determine your worth, if you’re “good enough.” Once you realize that you are hot shit, the height won’t matter so much. You’ll drive girls crazy because they’ll see a man who knows his worth, isn’t caught up in petty or superficial things, and knows he’s a catch. That shit is contagious, and will go a lot further than looks or height in finding a quality partner.
[–]dovakooon[S] 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
Do girls actually care if a guy is confident in himself? Like does that ACTUALLY make a difference in how they’re attracted to him? I don’t know.
[–]dambachern 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
In my experience I get a lot more positive interactions and connection with EVERYONE when I am being authentic and confident. I fucking love who I am and I have no shame in sharing myself with my dates. Also, I have a better time when I don’t care so much. You don’t need to find the right way to act or the right way to be to “get girls”. That’s a fool’s chase and won’t lead you to a deeper happiness or deeper love. Once you fall in love with yourself, and start living life like you love yourself, romance will become so easy and natural and fun. Then you’ll be surrounded by people who agree, and love you too

That’s just it. You’re already there. You’ve always been there. Everyone and everything is so miraculous for even being able to exist. Beauty and love and wisdom and happiness and connection, they are all the same place. And we never have to leave.

Confidence is one of the most attractive traits we have as males, in my opinion.
[–]erect_sean 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes 100x. You're young and maybe over thinking this but as long as you have good self esteem. It should be able to translate into a great personality because you're not dependent on others giving you value. You know who you are.
My advice, focus on getting better in different areas of your life and look into socializing more through your hobbies. There's tons of books as well to read on how to have a better personality. Stop being a victim
Just my two cents, there’s a mid 20s guy working at my local supermarket, he’s like 5 feet 4 inches or something, pretty damn short for a male, but no one cares. Everyone likes him and he’s the coolest guy working there cause he’s confident in himself, smiles, has a positive vibrant energy, and treats customers with kindness always. Height may put you at a disadvantage at times, but you absolutely CAN counteract it with the right amount of confidence. Plus other stuff.

They literally don't know what factors attract them. Personally I don't believe that; I think they just lie/misdirect with what they tell men they're attracted to
dude that’s not always the case, me personally i feel like i definitely marry someone taller than me even if they are a “catch” i don’t know if i could be with someone shorter or my height cause i’m pretty tall, generally if a girl says she wants something she’s going to get it, most women stick to their preferences

Yes and no, height is like handsomeness, it opens doors for you if you are taller but personality can certainly offset things but only to a certain extent, if you find a girl of a similar height she will accept that you’re on the smaller side if your personality makes up for things but there will always be girls for whom the door is firmly shut for you because of height, not trying to discourage you it’s just the way it is

I was the tallest girl in school at 5’9” and I dated the shortest guy in school at 5’2”. I love when short guys have the confidence to not let their short stature get in the way, when they just laugh at short jokes, and don’t care. He never said I couldn’t wear heals or that we looked odd in photos - basically he didn’t RO anything to make me feel awkward or guilty for being tall.
Some stranger once asked me in front of him why I was wasting my time with this “pathetic little guy” and my BF immediately responded, “Because I’m going to climb her like a pole tonight and make all her wildest dreams come true”, and then laughed. We all laughed, even the jerk. Plus it was hot. He was just charming and confident and I loved that!!!

Height matters just as much as any predisposed thing that we come into this world with; it doesn’t. If there’s nothing you can do about it, worrying will only make your life worse. Find a way to just come to terms with it. It is what it is.
Just FYI, I’m like 5’7 and all of my close friends are taller than me (one of em is like 6’7). I only ever felt self-conscious with my height when I played basketball, other than that it never bothered me. Girls are attracted to taller guys, but that usually just makes it easier to approach and get female attraction onto you. You could be the perfect height, and without any real game you wouldn’t score once. Trust me dude, just work on being confident and that’s all you’ll ever need in this life to get with a girl.
Anyone in here telling you it matters, are the people who let their height ruin their inner confidence. Sure some girls are automatically just out of the question because they prefer tall guys, but if she doesn’t want you than why would you want her? She could be the hottest girl on the planet, and the only reason she wouldn’t go out with you is you is because of your height. What is there to do about it? Nothing. We can’t always get what we want.
[–]IEatButtHoles 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Dude chill. Girls are attracted to height but they are even more attracted to behavior. Most guys act like pussies so taller guys will beat you by default. Just be a cocky funny douche and that's it really. Don't act like that, BE it.

Some girls have hard no preferences for dudes but most adult women don’t. I think as we age and mature we realize that we wouldn’t want to miss out on someone amazing just bc of something like height preference. Basically if a girl is writing you off solely bc of your height you are probably dodging a bullet bc this is a shallow person. You’re a teen and teenagers are still pretty dumb in general. No offense but that’s kinda a fact. We all are dumb teenagers before we hopefully grow, learn, and mature. You must ignore these ignorant people who would bully you like that. These are assholes. steer clear of them. They don’t matter. Also one last thought, males can grow into their early 20s so I wouldn’t judge your height just yet. Take care of yourself and be healthy overall. Ya never know where you’ll end up but know that it doesn’t matter anyways to a good normal person who’s a possible partner.

[–]hunterpua 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Height and physical appearance is only one factor and if you don't have much else going for you then being short will be quite a hindrance to you socially and sexually.
But if you're great in other areas then being short is no big deal.
Pete Wentz from the band Fall Out Boy is 5'6" and the ladies love him.
He has a lot more going for him than just his height. For one he's maximized the looks he does have and he's also very popular and a pretty darn good musician.
If you maximize your looks by how you dress and groom yourself, become popular, and be amazing at something then your height won't be much of a hindrance.
For those who'd say Pete Wentz doesn't count because he's a celebrity, he does count because there is a self-improvement aspect to this and you can self-improve to the point that you reach and even surpass Pete's level.

I think in certain relationships it can matter. For me I feel uncomfortable being taller in the relationship. I’m 5’ 7” (female) and personally prefer my partner to be the taller in the relationship.
However there are many partners who don’t care. And also many people who are much shorter than 5ft 6.

It matters to an extent. As others have said, women typically prefer men who are taller than them. Some women do have specific height expectations, but generally just being taller is fine.
There is good news. You can make yourself more attractive, work on your character/personality, and there are so many attractive women who would be just as happy with a 5'6" partner compared to someone taller (there are more than plenty of fish in the sea).
A few ways to be more attractive: wearing boots with inserts, gaining muscle, taking care of your hygiene, and dressing well. Unfortunately, for some women height is a deal breaker, but you shouldn't worry about that because there are more than enough women who are happy with a 5'6" partner.
If someone teases you for being short, feel free to agree and amplify. (Ex: Yeah, but I get legroom in economy. My parents are sad I couldn't follow their footsteps into the oompa loompa academy. I save on clothes.) There are many more, and much better, examples. Show you can take their jabs without getting hurt (at least appear to) and try not to get defensive. This is only one way of dealing with these sort of antagonizing statements.
Being below average height isn't something to stress about, and if someone says something, try to be confident about it. It can be depressing at times, but you can become a better person simply by improving other parts about yourself. You may not be the tallest, but you'll be healthy, funny, and good looking.
Now, this is all coming from a 5'6" American dude so I like to think I know where you're coming from. You take it step by step and learn as you go, but with each step you'll be a better person than you were the day before, and you'll be able to attract more attractive women.

I’m a super short girl (5”1), so no, height has never mattered. I haven’t met a guy shorter than me since middle school.
I recently met a guy who was 5”5 and honestly, it was surprisingly attractive. It was super nice being around the same height as a guy. It felt warm and familiar, in a sense.
Those girls in school are just upset that they don’t have boyfriends.

[–]average-maknae 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
In all seriousness, I can’t see myself ever finding someone unattractive because of their height.
I love myself a tall guy, until the sex is awkward or he asks, “how’s the weather down there?”
[–]StudentLoans_ -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
There’s a difference though. People can be attractive both tall and short, but people can be drawn to preferences like height. If you google “Do I like him, or is he just tall?” and you can see that there are tons of examples of women being drawn to that just that one feature, and even then that’s okay.
To some it may may be a dealbreaker, to others not so much. Both men and women have preferences and likes/dislikes, but to say that say that height does not matter whatsoever, is just sugarcoating something that’s false.
[–]average-maknae 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Not exactly sure what point you’re trying to get across here.
Yikes to anyone attracted to someone for a SINGLE feature. That’s like me being attracted to someone just because they have green eyes or wear glasses.
And to ME, height doesn’t matter whatsoever. It’s the most arbitrary thing to me. I’d be far more attracted to a nerdy 5”5 guy than a bulky 6”5 guy. That’s just me.

I had a small crush on a coworker who was about 3 inches shorter than me, but he never made a move. Taller guys just happen to also be more aggressive when it comes to making the first move.
I ended up with men taller than me almost always because they were very aggressive in pursuing me. My last ex was relentless and texted me for 7 months straight on a dating app before I replied to him and well... he made sure to go completely overboard (this subreddit may refer to this as "simping") with romantic displays of affection and really put me on a pedestal. I see that in this sub, men encourage each other not to do this, which is a mistake, in my honest opinion.

Listen young fella, I’m literally a half inch taller than you. There will be women who are are 2-3 inches taller than you are that will give you a chance based off your character, and there are women who are 5’0” who won’t look at any dude under 5’10” bc well to be honest, they’re insane. And in these cases you’re better off not dealing with them. You will never really know what “women” as a whole want, bc most women don’t even know what women want lol. I’m 34, I’m half an inch taller than you, I’ve had girlfriends, flings, friends with benefits, one nighters, and an engagement, you’re gonna be fine kid I promise. Project confidence when interacting with women, even if it’s false bravado, most of them can’t tell. You see a lot of guys that are 5’s in life with a lot of women who are 7’s and up, it’s all about confidence, it’s the number 1 thing that will attract a woman to you. Idk how old you are but the ballsiest, most confident thing you can do is walk up to a girl (if she’s older than you even better) in a group of people and talk to her like no one else exists. The more you fail, the more you will succeed, you’ll get good at it and soon become nearly unstoppable. Three things to finish this off: 1 there are some women you just won’t ever have a vibe with and this is ok. 2 do not take rejection personally. And 3 you only deserve what you’re willing to go out and get for yourself, no one is just going to drop beautiful women in your lap. Good luck buddy

genuinely two of the people i have liked to the point i've gotten heartbroken over them were not taller than me. One was shorter than me by a few inches. The other we were almost the same height? I think if i stood up straight i might have been taller. Im a little unclear.
At any rate, there are people it won't matter to. People who will see you and value you for more than just one physical feature. Chin up, kay? You asked some other commenters what traits made such people attractive. And my two cents are that for me these people were smart, funny, adorable, (i loved watching one of them be happy over little things. His face would light up with glee), and most of all they were kind.

Women who are tall get made fun of and have a difficult time dating too. It’s just an unfortunate expectation of our society that negatively impacts some on both sides. But there are TONS of people of all different heights. It’s not a totally hopeless scenario
Height matters colour matters. A tall white man is statistically more likely to be in a relationship/hook ups than anyone else.

THAT is what’s important to me.
Your attitude, not your height.
[–]porn-chicken 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The biggest man-slut I know is probably shorter than you. He just got married to an absolute babe who he met when she was 18 and he was 30. She's the same height as him, if not just a smidge taller.
He played in bands with me in our teens and 20's, partied like an animal, and was just generally a good guy to hang with. Also shot his shot with literally every woman. He banged some U G L Y women, but he often scored "way out of his league".
It taught me a lot tbh
He was deeply insecure, but made up for it with a loud personality. It was baffling to me how a midget with a loud mouth could pull way more than me. I'm 6''4, work out, lead guitarist, massive ego, etc, yet he still outdid me. I was the quiet, reserved type who'd stick behind after the show to smoke a joint with other bands. He was out in the crowd trying to steal the spotlight when he wasn't playing.
He got rejected often. Not always for being short, but it came up a lot. He often retorted that it was an advantage for him because it makes his dick look bigger by comparison.
He was totally unashamed about wanting to bang, and would openly tell women he was attracted to them. Very frankly and direct. He had a way of making people feel very safe and secure about their sexuality and was respectful of how they expressed it.
I, on the other hand, grew up in a Christian family with tons of sexual shame. I think I assumed women were uninterested in sex until me and him had a threesome with a girl he was trying to set me up with.
So to summarise, girls will put you down for anything. People are cruel. Deal with it. Wear it like a badge of honour. Own it to the point if absurdity. Also, learn to sing or play an instrument (joke, but also not a joke). Confidence will make you successful in spite of your limitations.
Tldr - how you act and carry yourself is more important than height.

Does any desirable attractive quality matter? Yes.
But not as much as you think. People look at studies that focus on height, face, wealth etc. And think that's it's hopeless if you you're not in top 10%, but that's bullshit and doesn't represent the real world where multiple factors are at play.
EVERYONE knows being attractive helps you. But the real world is far different. There are so many things that make up a person, and contribute to your attractiveness. If you are a short person, but are confident, can hold a great conversation, make anybody you talk to feel listened to and important, have status (e.g. a decent job, social standing), have charisma. You'll beat anyone who is tall, but has none of those things, and that is apparent to anyone in seduction. I've met so many smaller guys that would get way more attention than me from girls.
It's not a level playing field for anybody. There is ALWAYS someone more attractive than you. Embrace and accept your deficiencies and work on things you can actually control. Your parents have done fine with their genetics several generations down the line, and you will too.

my best friends boyfriends parents have a half a foot height difference. His dad is 5’6 and his mom is almost 6ft, and they are the cutest couple ever. your tall queen is coming don’t worry
Yes. It does. Being 6 foot or taller is a definite advantage. But it is not something you can't overcome. A charismatic, alpha personality and a bit of muscle definition go a long way.
I have a short friend (5' 7")who probably gets even more pussy than I do, because his game quite frankly is top notch and he has great muscles, which are further enhanced by his shortness.
Lastly, the important part is that you're taller than the women you hit up. Don't necessarily need to be tall among men, though that does help.
[–]Visualize_ 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Short answer is yes height matters but there's always exceptions. Just because a girl is taller than you doesn't mean you are screwed. Some girls don't give a shit about height, other girls it will be a deal breaker if you aren't 6 foot+, other girls it will just be an uphill battle but still doable. The main point is just don't treat it as a limiting belief. You can't change your height so there's no point in feeling sorry about it
What are these other ways?

Yeah height matters. It's something girls just naturally gravitate to. You'll have develope in other areas bto compensate. For example work on your humor, develope you character, develope your gravitas, develope a desirable physique, and/or achieve financial abundance, etc.
At 5’6” your face has to be good and you can’t be fat or too skinny. If you got that, you should be OK.

Not all girls want a dude that’s short but there’s plenty of women who do or don’t really care. Who cares if a women doesn’t like you cuz your short, move on and you’ll eventually find someone who doesn’t care
[–]Creevy 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes it matters, but it isn't the be all end all. I'm also 5'6", I just don't let it affect me. It's one of my many qualities, many of which I feel are more attractive than the average man. I'm sure some girls wouldn't be with me because of my height, and that's fine. That's their choice, I wish them happiness. I also know enough girls are into me that I feel satisfaction. You're so much more than your height, but you have to believe in that or your height will end up taking more emotional real estate than it deserves.
[–]PopeIzalith 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m also 5’6’’, was also told when I was 18 I’d probably grow to 6’0’’ but it never happened. I’m not going to lie and say that it doesn’t matter, there are a lot of women who really want a tall guy and I’ve received some rejection because of that.
But it’s never really slowed me down, for all the girls who don’t like my height there’s even more girls who are shorter than me, extremely hot, and aren’t bothered by my height. I’m pretty successful with women because I make sure to focus on my other high quality attributes.
It’s really only an issue if you make it an issue. Don’t brother wasting time worrying about women who don’t like your height, or anything else about you for that matter. Only pursue and spend time on women who have a high level of interest in you and you’ll be just fine.
It’s also important to point out that because I’m a little short, I can get away with being more aggressive in my advances. Use that advantage, you’ll find a lot of women saying “I never thought you’d be my type but I really like you” music to my ears.
[–]MrDownhillRacer 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, height matters a lot to women.
However, there's no sense fretting over something you can't change. You're at a disadvantage (well, I don't even think 5'6" is that short, so you're not that poorly off), but that doesn't mean you can't offset and make up for it with shit you can change.
Just put all your skill points into fitness, charisma, humour, etc. You can change that shit. You'll have to work harder than tall guys do, but hey, that's life, fella.
Next time somebody gives you shit about your height, just deflect it with a joke and act as if it doesn't bother you (never act butthurt, defensive, or reactive). If you start doing things that give you a sense of accomplishment and confidence, eventually, it actually won't bother you, and it won't be an act anymore. Fake it until you make it. You've got this, king.
[–]TeeHaha 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It does to a certain extent, but 5'6 isn't the worst. To be honest, it a girl only wants to date you because of your height, you probably wouldn't want to date them anyways. You'll find someone who falls in love with your personality and not your height, trust me.
Height matters just like ethnicity matters, eye color, having nice skin, style, money, etc. So yeah, it matters. But there are a LOT of girls who don't want to be next to a giant, so for a 5'2" girl, you would be fine. There are tons of girls who will think 5'6" is fine, all else being equal. What I mean by that is that all else being equal -- two guys equally funny, smart, considerate, romantic, rich -- sure, maybe the girl wouldn't mind taking the one who is 5'10 or 6'1". Likewise, all else being equal, a girl might prefer a guy who has 50 million in net worth, but 99.9999% of women out there are happily married to men with far less.
So yes and no. And whether it's yes or not, is totally up to you. IMO, don't try to be cute. Like don't develop the cute, small guy personality. Guys who do this might get misled by girls saying "you're so cute!" but that doesn't mean they wanna fuck you. But don't have a Napolean complex either. Just be a cool, confident, chill guy. And dress well. Not metrosexual. But have style. A lot of girls will take a short guy with style over a tall guy who dresses like crap. In LA anyway.
I should add, 5'6" is shorter than average, but to me, it's just normal on the short side. It's not like people are staring at you short. I have a few 5'6" to 5'7" friends and maybe it's because I'm a guy, but I don't even notice their height. And one of them has always done REALLY good with girls. He's a good listener, confident, laughs a lot, and projects great energy.
[–]maxim916 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well not really. I’m a guy 5”4 and have had plenty of girlfriends some who were taller then me and all good looking. Don’t worry about ur height man if she doesn’t like you Bc of ur height she ain’t the one.
[–]whirleymon 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It matters, but dont forget everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Keep finding areas to improve socially, and your personality will tower over your height.
My girlfriend (F17) and I (M18) are the same height, we’re both 5’5. I felt self-conscience about my height going through hs and I even talked to her about it, she said she likes me so much she doesn’t even care about my height in the slightest, she said it wouldn’t make a difference to her if I was taller or shorter. She’s this really caring, understanding, sweet girl, and I’m so glad I met her, Took me time to find someone like her but I did and I’m so grateful to be with her. You’ll find someone, it just takes time.

F19 perspective/personal experience: For a first impression i would say it does matter quite often but, most of the guys i actually have caught feelings for were a bit shorter than me and when feelings are there i don't think about hight. Btw: its obviously awesome when a guy is confident about being short. I think It makes short guys more attractive.

I’ve serial dated for many years. Not ever once did I turn a guy down or even think much about a man’s height. I’m pretty petite (5’2”) and usually wear heels...not sure if that matters. I gave a friend who is legit gorgeous and he’s 5’5”...he’s taken some blows to his ego because people say shit things to him about his height. But personally...I never even noticed.
[–]HillTopTerrace 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I am 5’3 and my partner is the same. I think it’s shallow if women eliminate you because of height and you don’t want anything to do with that. I’ve not been with anyone shorter than me but I’ve been with men from my height to 6’9 and I have found that nothing is in the height, it’s all about the inside. My partner is one of the most brilliantly smart, beautiful and humble man I’ve ever met. Don’t be a dummy. Smarts and kindness are deal breakers for me.
[–]dovakooon[S] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Ok, but the thing is is that most girls my age DO seem to care about height.
[–]HillTopTerrace 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I feel you. It’s just youth ignorance. Consider yourself lucky that you’re weeding out the shallow kids. Outgrow them with the maturity in the notion that height isn’t a thing. If you outlearn them, and legit out mature then, you’ll be the coolest kid on the block.
Ok but shallow or not, girls are gonna see my height and be turned off.
[–]HillTopTerrace 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why do you think girls want to date older than them? Because maturity. Get some and then you’ll be beating them off with a stick.

I’m 5’5 and the last three guys I’ve dated have been right around my height. I wouldn’t count a tall guy out but it’s never been a big deal for me. As far as the girls that point and make idiotic comments? They’re not worth your time.

As a 30 year old woman who has lived so much already let me be 100% honest. NO IT DOES NOT MATTER. In the long run what matters are many other things, trust me. Just be you, be confident, stop caring. You'll be fine, 5'6 is not bad. Also think about it this way, there are men out there who are shorter and wish they were 5'6.
[–]dovakooon[S] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ok but as an 18 year old i’m not thinking about the long run, i’m thinking about the fact that a lot of girls won’t take me seriously because of my height
[–]Mortician69 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I thought you had asked if your height really mattered? But then well, if you're talking about high school only and not worried about life in general then yes, obviously height does matter because they're obviously pointing that out.
[–]kpoint8033 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Dude whether any of that shit matters is irrelevant, just work on your game. Focus on what you can control, I promise you thinking about this shit does nothing but hinder your progress. Focus on what you can control and you'll be a winner that's it.

I'm 29 years old and 5'6", 140lbs. I work in a business and I'm normally the shortest one in the department or in a meeting.
It's never stopped me. I let my work talk for me and don't lean into feeling small because I'm physically small. I can lead meeting and I can hold a whole room if I need to. I don't want to brag a bunch here, but I've moved up already in the company and I'm primed for another promotion.
My wife is slam dunk gorgeous and I love her a bunch. I normally wasn't too successful with ladies... But my height far down on the list of why. I had a lot of self acceptance to do before I was ready for a relationship. Height was a convenient excuse, but never the core issue.
Will height get in the way? Sure. I'm not going to tell you it has never mattered to anyone... But it's never mattered to anyone who has mattered to me. That's really the key. Shallow assholes (male or female) will mention it, but it's really a cheap cut and it means they really lack any sort of creativity. You don't need to be "proud" of being short or any bullshit like that. Just be. Be you.
If any potential mate uses it as an excuse... Ask yourself if you really want to be with someone that has something like a height requirement as a deal-breaker. Those aren't the people you want to hitch your wagon to.
Happy to answer any questions you might have.
Hmm

Some things you can control in life, some you cannot.
Work on falling in love with yourself so that others can fall in love with you. Will you miss out on some hot broads who love tall dudes? Absolutely.
In the end, only strive for those looking who have your best interest in mind. I have a friend whose 5'5 (he claims he's 5'7, but he's lying or delusional) who gets pretty attractive girls to look at him by the way he dresses. He manages to screw it up in the end, but it was nothing to do with his height.
Some of the biggest studs I've ever met were 5'6 or thereabouts. Attitude, facial structure and charm are great equalizers. I'm NBA level tall, it helps with some girls (the female equivalent of guys who go gaga over giant boobs), but other women think I'm too tall.
There's no winning, my friend.
Would you say that you’re in the minority of women who feel that way? Because from my experience the average woman would be bothered
[–]Trabawn 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes I’d say I’m probably in the minority unfortunately but then again,I’ve seen quite a few short men with wives/girlfriends. Every one has a preference when it comes to their preferred sex.
[–]ZR1987 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What is more important to girls than your height is your insecurities about it. If it's not a big deal to you then it won't be to them. If it is, good! It'll run off the shallow ones that you don't want anyways.
[–]ChopinIsMyDad 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If a girl is truly interested in you then height shouldn't matter imo. I'm 5'5 and my gf is 5'9 and she has assured me that my height doesn't matter to her Also before my current gf almost all my previous partners during my teenage years were taller than me. Those girls are assholes, don't let them get to you
[–]Master-Edward-3 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes unfortunately it appears to matter for most women no matter how clever you can be and skilled you can be in other areas. One thing to keep in mind is whatever disadvantages you do have then that just inspires you to be triple as great in other avenues of life or try to be. A lot more matters on men when attracting women I have noticed and thus dating and seduction is quadruple as tough for men than it is for women where attraction is much more lenient and less matters as much to get men.
I’m about your height too and it does kind of suck that you are judged on what you had no say or control in and even if you did you’d of been changing yourself to appease others because you like them. It’s no different than race mattering in dating both are equally prejudiced unless you desire to have specific looking children for some reason.
And because height matters more on men and effects men more society mostly won’t care much about how it damages the self esteem of men much like with other issues that effect men as well. In short yes I’d say it sadly matters however it’s now your mission to get it to not matter as much as it does from the day you realized this forward.
[–]Kakarotssj11 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m also a 5’6” teenage male, and my girlfriend and I are having our 1 year anniversary next month so it doesn’t always matter. I asked her about her opinion and many girls just want someone taller than them, but if your personality is good enough then it probably won’t matter to the type of girls you should want. I personally think your main problem is your insecurities about your height and that is what is turning girls off more than your actual height
[–]tropicsGold 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Everything is on a bell curve. A certain percentage of women don’t care about height at all. A middle portion like men at least as tall as them, and a certain percentage have a fetish for tall men. there are plenty of women for you to chose from, that genuinely won’t care, or who are shorter than you. Lots of women are barely 5”
[–]Goldenpanda18 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those girls are assholes with a crazy amount of immaturity. Grown women don't act like that and generally don't care. I dated a guy for two years that was 5'5". He was a great kisser...work on your romantic skills... that's what girls like, at least this girl.
[–]evenifitdoesntmatter 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It matters but most guys use this (or whatever they can find) as an excuse. I was 5'6 when I was 15-16 but ended up over 6' so I was going to ask you to define "teenage." However I see you are 18 from the comments. So, yes, you are probably done growing. Another thing, almost everyone exaggerates (I look a lot of "six-three" dudes in the eye at 6'1 in shoes). So, you might not even be 5'6, but if that's your true height it's probably not as bad as you think since all these 5'9-5'10 dudes are out here claiming 6' and coming up to my eyes.
IMHO "height" matters to a man in the way "being skinny" matters to women. Yes, some folks care about it a LOT, but beyond a certain point, you quickly get to a place where you're nitpicking at yourself and/or others.
idk if this helps.

I’m 5’2” and the guy I’m dating is 5’7”. To some girls height aren’t that important. I used to have a huuuuge thing for men at least a foot taller than me. I’ve just discovered that height / appearances aren’t that important to me, as long as I’m treated well
[–]musicsal 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Look, I'm barely 5'4", the man I'm head over heels for is 5'8", and 2 of the best boyfriends and long term relationships I have ever had were 5'6" and 5'7". Height only matters in that everything works for you and the person you are with, are you comfortable with each other, can you cuddle comfortably, can you enjoy all the fun positions you want when you get sexual... those are the only time (in my opinion) that height matters. And you know, can you reach the high thing on the shelf that she can't if you are taller than her lol.
[–]yato08 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It does have an effect for many women(particularly younger women 18-30) during initial contact. Being taller helps you stand out. But you can negate most of it by having a personality, funny, successful, in shape, etc. I wrote this quora answer a while back. Hopefully this helps.

There will always be people that have height as a preference for guys they like. It is what it is. Just like there are guys where bra size matters. But I think that for the majority of people those things don’t actually matter. I’m rather short and I have dated guys shorter and taller than me. I personally think that personality and how they treat me and others is what’s important. I like to think that’s what other people look for as well.

Yes and no.
Height can be a deterrent in seduction, but it can be overcome. You just have to work harder than most.
I haven't been up to date with the pickup community for years, but back when I was really into it like 7-8 years ago, the group i followed the most was RSD, which was lead by a short balding ginger who was over weight and had a massive beard.
And the dude consistently pulled 9's and 10's on camera, sometimes 2 girls at once, over and over and over again.
No idea what they're up to today, but it really opened my eyes on what attraction really is

It does matter, but it’s not a deal breaker for everybody. Generally girls will just want to be shorter than you or the same height. There’s tons of nice, wonderful girls who are shorter than 5’6. You’ll meet somebody later. Fuck those girls making fun of you! Trust me, not everybody is like that.
People who make fun of you for any reason are not people you want in your life.
Everybody has a type. It’s not just something that just women do. Regardless of which sex does it more, to blame women for that and not take responsibility for your own sex is totally hypocritical.

I’m a 5’7” female and my boyfriend is 5’5.5”. We’ve been dating for 2.5 years by now and, I personally do not care— sure height adds to attractiveness, but it’s not everything. My boyfriend’s personality is what I care about most— he makes me laugh and is a sweetheart.
For the record, if anyone looks at just physical features to make their decision to date them or not, I think they’re shallow and just aren’t worth your time.

I’m 5’4” and I prefer a man my height or a couple inches taller.
My ideal male body type is slightly muscular/stocky/compact looking men, and this just tends to be much more common in shorter guys. The taller a guy gets, in general, the lankier he can look.
IMO shorter guys are also just the perfect height for hugging, etc. It feels so much more comfortable and intimate when you can get close and look into each other’s eyes. I don’t want to feel like I need to stand on a chair to get quality eye contact and snuggles with my man.
Also, I just feel like the short guys I’ve been interested in have really had so much going on in the personality/funny department. Maybe part of it was just that I noticed because they were my type, but I do think as far as temperament, I’ve always clicked better with shorter guys.
In conclusion, short guys are awesome.
Edit: For any armchair psychologists out there delving into the female mind, my Dad is 5’3”.
In truth girls like guys with height because it makes them feel “protected” as a dude that’s 5’8 take it from me fuck dem girls. If you can dress, smell good and hold a conversation you’re bound to find a girl that can overlook your height. You can’t control height but work on things that you can control.
Some girls don’t care. I know my wife does. But attraction is subjective my dude. You’ll link up with a great girl for you some day.

I’ve never asked for a girls height before asking them on a date and I’ve been taller than all of them. Hey dude! 5’4-5’5 19M here. In high school (which I assume you’re in just because of how you described the behavior of those girls) it can be hard. Once you get into college though, people generally act how human beings should. What you should do right now is just work on confidence. Im good with girls. I’m even shorter than you, but it really is all about confidence in yourself. Start a hobby, work out, train jiu jitsu, something interesting that also makes you better at the same time. Get confident in yourself and don’t be afraid to talk to new girls. Full send. All the time. You will always regret not doing something but you will not always regret biting the bullet and just doing it. It’s something I’ve run into a lot and it is very frustrating. You won’t always get the girl you want because you’re short. But if you’re confident and play it well and are honest with her, and treat her well, and she rejects you because of something you can’t change??? Fuck. Her.
You can do this bro. You just have to be confident, believe you’re better. If I can do it, you’ve already got it in the bag.

I am 5'6", usually overweight. 50. I don't think I look that good at all. Pretty run of the mill. Height has never been an issue. Even dated a couple of models. You can do this.
Height matters but if that’s the reason you don’t get a girl, you know she’s shallow and your height is doing you a favor by filtering them out.
[–]JayPlenty24 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have friends it matters to and friends it doesn’t. Same as some women are only attracted to black guys, or guys with red hair. You’re a teen you said so you’re likely still growing. I wouldn’t worry too much because any girl who’s going to laugh at someone, or put someone down, isn’t a girl you should be with. I know that this probably sounds like empty advice and I’m sure it hurt you a lot to be mocked, I’m not trying to make light of that. Just know that the way they’re treating you will be the way they end up treating someone who ends up in a relationship with you.

I don’t usually post in subs like this but I read an article one time abt not being someone’s type. I couldn’t possibly find it now but the gist of it was when there’s a physical quality you don’t have that someone you like desires try to embody the traits that they associate w that quality. For example we’re kinda predisposed to like tall guys bc they make you feel safe or protected. So by embodying that kind of person you can have the traits without exactly having them.
[–]AssOfTheSameOldMule 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Some girls will not be attracted to you because of your height, but probably fewer than you think and even fewer as you get older and people mature and generally get less superficial. I’m 33F and I’ve seen how dating priorities evolve as people grow up. For men, confidence is always the name of the game, though. It sets you apart like nothing else can.
I’m a 5’3” F and every guy I have dates or seriously liked has been 5’5” to 6’. The idea of a guy being over 6’ feels awkward to me, it feels like standing next to a giraffe, lol. And I know I’m not alone. The girls who are “height queens” are weirdly vocal about it, similar to the “no fat chicks” type of guys. But just as most average guys would happily date a girl who was on the thick side if she was otherwise attractive and there was great chemistry, I think a lot of girls would date someone of your height if the chemistry is there and you keep a neat appearance.
Btw, people love to cite that study saying women will only date men who are taller than them, so if you’re x-inches tall, then you can potentially access x% of women who are you’re height or shorter. As far as I can tell, that’s not how that works in real life. I find that women either care about height A LOT (6’+ only) or not much at all. If you’re describing your ideal mate to a researcher, in the hypothetical context, sure, most girls will say they want someone tall, just like men will say they want someone thin. But in real life, for both men and women, none of that matters when you meet someone you genuinely like. I always told myself I’d never date a smoker, or someone with tats, or someone bald, or someone under 5’8”, but when I met attractive, confident men who just happened to have those traits, all my bullshit went right out the window and I was all over them. A girl isn’t gonna be halfway in love with you and turn you down because her cutoff is 5’7”, that’s just not how that works. Girls seem to be either weirdly obsessed with height or they’re flexible based on the rest of the guy’s traits.

I like a guy who is up to 2" shorter than me and up. My height limit is 6'2". I'm 5'6". A guy that's 6' tall, it's honestly hard to kiss them, lol. I prefer same height through 5'10" the most for ease of kiss ability and holding hands. :) honestly, I may be the minority with my height opinions, but it's important to embrace EVERY part of who you are. The right person will dig you for what and who you are. <3

Don't worry dude as long as a girl likes your personality she doesn't rlly care about your height. I'm 5 foot tall girl so to me your height is great! There's plenty of girls who really don't care and the girls who are mocking you about it are clearly idiots.
Don’t listen to them.
High school is toxic man. Wait until you get to college and later on in life, it gets a lot better because everyone is more mature.
Height doesn’t matter to girls and if it does, then they’re not the right one.
I’m 5’7” and I’ve never had that issue.

Do you have an advantage over a guy who has pimples or skin problem, or other guys who are less advantageous than you? Sure. There’s always someone who’s looking at you and saying you have less issues. When it comes down to it, it’s all about the attitude. The attitude you have towards yourself and to the world
Just a side note, as a woman who has dated a slightly shorter guy than herself in the past it wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I personally got a lot of shit about dating a marginally shorter guy which was really sucky. Also had to avoid highheels.
My point in general is, be better people.

I’m 5’7 and i’ve slept with 20+ girls, have kissed well over 100, and have had multiple girlfriends. Don’t let it discourage you bro.
Every now and then a girl at a bar will bring up height. Whatever. Some of them are dicks or in a bad mood. Others- I end up sleeping with them ;)
And I’m far from a uber confident mofo. I have my fair share of insecurities and anxieties, luckily height was never one of them. If you’re a down ass dude and know what’s gucci you’ll carve out a nice piece of this multi-billion-girls-to-choose -from-pie.
Also, doesn’t hurt to hit the gym.

Height has zero weight in my decision to date a man!!!
My significant other is 5’6 and I have zero problems with it and neither does he. I am 5’5 and he encourages me to wear heels. I am taller than him a lot of the time and he has zero problems with it and I love that about him. Absolutely no problem here!!!!

I (27f) am dating someone who is 5’7. I’m 5’6ish. Honestly, taller guys were always my preference until I met him. We just clicked and his personality far outweighed his height and I am completely in love with him. I’m not sure if it affected him as a teenager because we really have never talked about it. He doesn’t seem to be phased by his height at all and that confidence makes him ever sexier to me.
Honestly I would just own it. You can’t change it and the girls who mocked you for it...are you really missing anything by not having people like that in your life?
It is a deal breaker for some girls and honestly, it was on my list of important things before I met who I’m with now. Once you click with someone, it won’t matter how tall you are.

Height matters 100% but it can be overcome. I knew a kid who barely came up to my chest (i’m 5’11”) and he was slinging pipe like i’ve never seen anyone do before. He was shredded, had a nice car, was very confident in himself, and when you hang out with him, you just sorta know that he’s gonna be the most fun person in the room, and women fucking love it.
TL;DR: height matters, but so does everything else. Focus in the things you can change, accept the things you can’t
[–]Amir77688 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Even I have The same height, the experience I had with the issue taught me that it matter for girls and if it doesn't matter afterwards, it mattered in the initial stage. But as soon as we accept the fact it would be better and never forget whatever is meant for u would find its way without noticing your height.
[–]Queasy-Cherry-11 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It gets a lot less important as you get older. In high school I wouldn't have dreamed of dating a shorter guy because I was insecure about my own slightly above average height, and felt a shorter guy would draw attention to that. Now I'm more secure in myself, I don't really care. Sure I'm more likely to be immediately attracted to a guy who's taller, but it's not a deal breaker by any means, and some of the most physically attractive guys I know are shorter than me. So yeah, it's a factor, but not an important one, and once you get past teenage girls you'll find this attitude popping up less and less.
[–]Nigh92 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
5'5 girl here usually go for 5'10 to 6'2 like the height difference. Just wanted to say 1. what these girls are doing are awful. 2. You are a teenager dont worry so much when you haven't finished growing. 3. If you stay at 5'6? You may not be first choice for casual sex if I'm being completley honest but when it comes to dating you have a chance like everyone else you need to find some confidence and learn how to affirm yourself. I have dated someone my height he was ticking a lot of other boxes
[–]JustSitnHereWaiting 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've always found women seem to be more attracted to a man that can make a woman laugh again and again than a man that is tall, or a man that can show he can take care of his finances, or a man that pays more attention to his date than anyone else around them. What does this mean? Women are different and get attracted to what they get attracted to. Be yourself and quit worrying about things that you can't change. Control what you can.

I was just discussing this with my friend today. Oh sucks, but height matters a lot to some people, for reasons I don’t even know. Though my friend and I were talking about how the shortest guys I know, are often the funniest, craziest, and kindest I’ve ever met. They don’t overcompensate for their shortness and just roll with the punches.
Don’t be worried about height, cause the right girls don’t really care that much. The guy I have a fancy for is shorter than me, and I find him absolutely amazing in almost every way.
[–]k8y_masturbatey 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think your problem is mainly high school girls (and early 20s) — they can be brutal. It’s such an insecure time for them so they’re obsessed with bodies and aesthetics. And honestly they’re probably saying even meaner things to themselves everyday. Take pity not offence.
5’6” only matters to those it matters to and you won’t see those bitches coming online (where most of us are meeting people these days) so put it on your profile and then just relax and have fun. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to bodies but catching others off guard can be more hurtful/annoying for you then weeding them out at the beginning.
Guys height is really in question these days isn’t it? It’s weird, it’s a fad right now, it will pass and most hot adult women couldn’t care less about your height. Like girls are supposed to have big butts now (used to be small butts). Things change over time. I don’t get it and most of the women I (37f) know don’t really care about the height number because it’s all about physical/emotional/mental/chemical compatibility. So you can never go wrong with being yourself and just having a goal of having fun and meeting new people.

To some girls, yes. To some girls, no. I'm only 5'5 but I have attracted girls who were 5'0 to 5'7. In fact my high school crush who was 5'7 tried to go out with me. She was part of the cheerleading team and looked like a Hispanic model but because I was so insecure about my height I didn't make a move on her. She eventually gave up and moved on to some other guy. Please do not make the same mistake as I did.
Yes, you will come across those types of people who will comment about your height. However, their opinion like everything else about you don't matter. Do not worry about what you can't control. Focus on your personality, your goals, and your health. You're only in high school. You got a life ahead of you. You will eventually learn that superficial things like height do not matter.
[–]kroxsan 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My dude.. it really doesn't matter how tall you are or not.. your height doesn't make you any better person than you are and i think it's really easy to understand that if someone mocks you for your physicals then they're pretty bad at judging people especially for a relationship. It's okay if you can't reach high places to pick up a can of something the important part is if you're smart enough to bring and use a ladder or a chair to pick that thing up. So what i'm saying is don't be insecure about your height but worry more about educating yourself aka stuff you can improve yourself at
[–]pratik21jsr 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
if i say "your height does matter" will you stop living.
NO
so stop thinking and start developing yourself to be a better person as that is all that matters
The answer is yes, if it matters to you. Girls have a preference for certain traits, just like men do. If a girl has big titties or a big ass, that's a bonus, but you wouldn't date someone only because of a physical feature. Women are the same way. They prefer men to be taller than them because it makes them feel safer, but it's not the only thing they are looking for.
Stop worrying about things you can't control. And if you're really insecure you can get men's heels, listen to height increasing subliminals, or get surgery.
Just ask them how much you weight. Fixes the problem.

I’m 5’3.5 and my girlfriend is 5’8. We get a lot of looks and comments but it’s mostly because it’s an interracial relationship. Regardless, height shouldn’t matter. If you’re confident, have great social skills, and have a good heart, you’re good. A lot of woman see height first but its what you bring to the table that will ultimately and how much effort you’re willing to put in that will decide your relationships. Stay confident Short King

Me and my boyfriend are both 5’7”. Our heights never mattered. Similarly my friend who’s about 5’5 is marrying her boyfriend who’s gotta be her height maybe 5’6. I don’t have many friends who ACTUALLY date guys “only 6ft and above” lol it’s more rare than you think. And the longer out of high school you are, the less women (especially ones shorter than you) are gonna care about something like height!

[–]relentless_pma 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

5'5" here. Not hot in any way.
In my youth, I was a member of a drum and bugle corp, which basically means I spent three months outside getting ridiculously in shape. Buff, sure, but more cardio in shape. This was the summer before my first year of college. When I started that year, I was, obviously, in the marching band. My section had t-shirts made, and on the day they arrived, I didn't even think about it: I took off my old shirt and put on the new. At the sight of my abs (oh, how I miss having abs) there were some girls who went a little googly eyed, and some were taller than me by a few inches.
While I'm no longer buff, I remind myself that being in shape and acting with confidence had some girls, who I would never think would go for someone 3 or so inches shorter than them, actually take pause.
Even reading everything in this thread, you will probably still feel bummed, sometimes, about your height. I still do from time to time. But, own how you feel and do something about it. Since you can't get taller, do other things that you can control.
TL;DR Height doesn't mean anything. There are SO MANY people out there who are really great matches for you. You only need to find them. (Now *that's* the hard part.)

This post had to be taken down because it breaks Rule 5 regarding physical limitations.
2
The truth on this matter? Everybody has their own personal taste as far as physical appearance. If you ask people of height matters, everybody and their grandmother is going to have an anecdote or a personal view to share, ranging across a wide spectrum.
Some will say they like short guys, some will say they don't like short guys. And so on.
But really, The truth is that aspects of inner game, like confidence or good social skills like active listening, can override the physical side of the equation and lead to someone being attracted to someone who's not typically their so-called type.
The fact that people might make fun of someone based on an aspect of their physical appearance, is a side effect of low confidence.
People don't always realize when they're being turned off by low confidence, and instead will latch on to the easiest thing to comment on, which is appearance, like height.

I think self confidence goes a long way in how you are perceived by women. I have a friend who is taller than her husband. She said that she found him to be very self assured. Especially, since he was the one who pursued her. He was honest and open about his feelings from the beginning of their relationship.
In contrast, I met someone online who seemed nice, but when meeting him, I realized that he was dishonest in his profile. He said he was 5'9". In actuality, he is about 5'4", I towered over him, since I was wearing heels. He should have mentioned it to me before meeting.
Would I have met him if I knew his true height? Yes, but I also found out that he did not have a graduate degree and he had other odd jobs, not a full-time one. I felt tricked and could not trust him.
Bottom line.... be honest. If someone doesn't accept you for who you are... it is not meant to be.

One of my best friends is 5’4 and he gets some of the hottest girls I’ve seen. Your height doesn’t matter. The only benefit of being tall is that you’ll be noticed due to you being a head taller than most people. If you’re a cool dude then girls will dig you. It doesn’t help that you’re a teenager because girls are weird asf in that phase. Keep your head up, be confident, be cool and stay calm and they’ll be all over you. Don’t let insults hurt you either because this is your life my dude, live it up and enjoy it because this is all you have. Hope this helped a bit!

Let me ask you a question, would you date a girl that weighed more than you did?
Chances are girls are almost always going to go for guys that are taller than them. I'm 5'10 so I'm only 4 inches taller than you. But I only really date girls that are 5'9 or less and weigh less than I do.
This is mostly programmed into our biololgy. Women want to feel small, and feminine, and protected. I want to feel big, masculine, and strong. So I'm naturally attracted to petite women.
You are disadvantaged to the extent that your dating pool is smaller because you'll be dating girls 5'5 or shorter. Women have the opposite problem. The taller or heavier they are, the more their dating pool shrinks.
[–]GrandMasterB19 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I knew this was going to get downvoted. It's still okay for women to have preferences for taller/larger men and nobody cares. But a man with preferences for smaller/slimmer women is seen as somehow disrespectful towards women. The double standard is astounding.

Your pockets will matter more than height ever will.
And of course there is charm, manners, muscularity and other features so do not get caught up in your height. Sure you’ll never get to explore girls who are 6 feet and above, but who knows maybe you’re smooth as cream cheese and you’ll get many women if that’s what you want.
Maybe it’s because i’m not independent yet, but I don’t really understand how money, paper that’s used to get things you want, can make a woman think you’re hot. For me, i’ve never thought about how rich a girl is, and honestly I could care less if she is broke or rich in terms of attractiveness.
[–]sadhak_x0 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
to answer your question, it's a gradual thing. it becomes more and more important as the girl ages while her economic situation is not improving, not to mention if her friends have access to more material goods. but if you're likable enough, most girls will have you if you're just about stable. it's not about the money, it's about what you do with it. think: camping and BBQ in the wilderness vs that guy who keeps taking her to dinner at some restaurant every week. his girl would be jealous of yours and will give him shit for not doing the refreshing stuff you do. P.S, your definition of money ("paper that’s used to get things you want") is dangerously over-simplifying. money is everything, including your mother's health given the circumstance, or your best friend's health if you would help them, and your own health, too, and health signifies other things in your social life, and money mean a ton of things other than health, etc... money means time. money means freedom. never ever let the pursuit of money escape your long and short term goals. try to find some books about making money, at least one, and give it a go.

It absolutely matters. It is one of the most important features in a man. But at 5 6 u can compensate with a good face and a good frame. If u lack both, its over
[–]Queen-of-meme -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The short answer is Yes.
The majority of women wants a taller man and will ditch and not even give a chance to anyone short.
But you are a shorter man. And focusing on who won't like you is as logic as going to a gay bar looking for a girlfriend and complaining how no one flirts with you there.
Don't care what's most popular. There's women out there who has no issues with your length. Which means there's a possibility to meet someone who accepts you. That's where your focus should lay.
Another thing to consider. Imagine an insecure tall man vs a confident comfortable shorter guy. Most women goes for the one who is happy about himself. So start to be happy about yourself. Focus on your attributes, your smile. Your muscles, your voice, and of course your big and great personality. Remember what you have. Women will notice from miles away when you're a hot attractive confident guy.

I’m 5”8 and I will honestly only be interested in a guy if they are clearly taller than me (even if everything else is perfect) - I had a year long relationship with someone my height and I just didn’t enjoy it. It’s nothing personal against shorter people, just a preference that I have myself!
