This is a major red flag, she needs to leave him asap for the sake of her daughter. My father started making disgusting sexual jokes as soon as I hit puberty and over the course of my teenage years it slowly escalated until he started inappropriate touching me. I felt so uncomfortable and violated but I didn't understand until years later that it was sexual abuse. My mom was often gone long hours and I never told her because I knew he would deny it or worse, blame ME for his disgusting actions.
Point is, if a grown man is mentioning anything sexual to a young girl, he is 100% depraved and you MUST kick him to the curb before his jokes turn into actions that cause a lifetime of psychological damage. It doesn't matter how many years you have been with him or how good your relationship is, your children must ALWAYS come first.

One of my best friends in school was sadly nearly sexually abused by a stepdad in a very similar situation. She had to stay at mine for a long, long time.
Who "enabled" it? I don't blame you, I did the same thing. It was lonely but I saw so many women who were putting their new d over their kids. My son is now 18 and (as far as I know) he's never been a victim.
We also did the 'underwear rule' which is a program to talk to your kids about these, seriously vetted people around my kid, he didn't do sports/activities that have a history of these sorts of things. He did do sports and hobbies but very vetted.
I was called paranoid by my then best friend (who is lv and breaks my heart) but whatever.

You cannot be too paranoid in my opinion. You allowed your son to feel safe and able to confide in you, that's half the battle won. I was targeted by paedophiles more than once (not my stepfather, thankfully) and it was part of the reasons I never had children. Yes unfortunately. My stepfather was the biggest piece of shit but after him, my mum never had another man around us children again. As much as I wanted to see her be happy, I was glad there wasn't another drinking, abusive stepfather around. She even told me she didn't trust other men around us anymore. Good stepfathers do exist but so many abuse and kill their stepchildren.
