When she says: "Hey, could you stop by at the grocery store and get... oh, nevermind, forget it, I'll stop by on my way home from work", he won.
I'm guessing he can't wrap his mind around doing laundry either, too darn complicated. You should definitely listen to his political opinions though, he's a genius.

My ex husband has his own place now. I used to do all the shopping. I wonder how he is going to handle living on his own. Before we moved in together he lived with his mother. He has never lived alone. He used to call me a few times to ask where he could find things and I had to send him pictures of exactly what I wanted lmao.
We actually had a really bad argument about cranberry juice once. He very frequently gave me UTIs from lack of cleaning himself more sex and intimacy. I had a really bad infection. I had to call off work and couldn't talk. So I asked him for some juice cocktail to make me feel better.
He came back with unsweetened concentrate. It was WAY too gross for me to drink it. I asked him to back and get something sweeter. He didn't want to go that. Grocery store was only 5 minutes from the house. He insisted I should just drink what I bought because "it is like medicine you should just tolerate it is not that bad" and he took like a sip.
He did try and mix sugar in cold juice and told me that was fine! I never get the juice. How was he supposed to know I wanted something sweet and it was "all he could find"
Sigh.

Reminder that untreated UTIs / yeast infections can lead to scarring which can lead to infertility. Any dumbass that's like "oh they're NBD" should be kicked to the curb immediately.

Just... how does a urinary tract infection cause scarring in your reproductive system?
[–]NinjaCynicFDS Newbie 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Because the urethra and vagina are so close to each other, infections migrating to the bladder can also migrate to the uterus --> pelvic inflammatory disease. Manky unwashed dick will infect both.

This is what I do... to my mum when I was a teenager and had no clue what brands to buy. Not a full ass grown man. And even then I didn't spam the calls, I just took photos of the brands and sent it and waited for her reply. He's doing it intentionally to make her annoyed so in future she won't ask him to do it again.
[–]bleda_princeznaFDS Newbie 98 points99 points100 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, my siblings would call me from the store too, that's to be expected if they don't do that often.
My sister would call once every now and then, my brother... At first he'd make a call for practically every item he was asked to get, probably trying to get out of it next time. But he was told several times to try asking the shop keepers or just to look properly before calling (stores are mostly small here anyways). Guess what? The more often he was asked to shop for stuff, the less calls were needed. It does wonders when you don't let men/boys get away with pathetic behaviour.

Imagine being in a grocery store, where every isle is labeled, every item is required to have packaging that describes what’s inside, there are people working there who can help you find things or answer questions about products, you have the whole wide internet at your fingertips, and badgering your partner because you can’t be bothered to use your brain or your resources.

Reminds of my a coworker that left detailed hand written instructions on how to care for their infant son for her LVM boyfriend (father of the child). They all live together and he's the unemployed "stay at home dad" that doesn't care for their child, do chores, clean, cook, or pay any bills. She posted the instructions on Facebook with a laughing emoji face because it's adorable that he's clueless.

Exactly. He's a bum. I feel second hand embarrassment any time she posts about him. She recently posted to ask if anyone knew of any job openings. I thought "Oh good! He's going to work instead of play video games all day." Then in the comments she said she was asking because she needs to get a 2nd job to pay the bills.... I'd rather be single at that point.

Love it, I do think most of us don't exactly want to live a billionaire trophy wife life - we just want enough to live a stable life. And if we meet a guy, we want to make sure the stable life stay stable.
It is those LVMs that actually want to live a trophy wife life and don't want to work for it, so they find gullible pickmes to leech from. Majority of men really are feminine nowadays.

I loathe grocery shopping, so I’m an avid user of instacart. If a dude picks up my order, I always cringe. They can’t find things or make any decent replacement recommendations. I’ve had one single dude that impressed me and didn’t stress me the whole time.
Once I was making something specific and the guy couldn’t find ricotta because “they were out”. I needed it for my recipe, so went to the same store that same afternoon… they had plenty of ricotta. But because it was in a non-obvious location, “they were out”.

Oh my GOD I was going to say the same thing. When I shop I always put either a substitute if there's a brand I prefer, a Do Not Substitute if I MUST have this exact brand, or "Use best judgement" if I don't care what brand it is I just want some fricken lasagna noodles, or Ask Me when I want the item, but need control over what the specific sub is without knowing what is available.
Women? Can use judgment and get me what I need.
Men though? Men will either:
A) Message for EVERY SINGLE ITEM (even those with specified substitutes).
B) Make dumbass inexplicable substitutions. Like - I asked for a blend of coconut milk and almond milk. This shit is in the freezer. Motherfucker buys coconut water. WHY? Or I ask for a 3 lb roast. I guess there was no 3lb roast because this asshole purchased 2 x 2.5lb roasts. WHY?? Or, the most baffling one that I still don't understand -- ordered some lip balm...on the order receipt "substituted with" GLUE. FUCKING GLUE YOU GUYS.
C) Message for some substitutes and not others - and this is super infuriating particularly when they don't ask before substituting for the items I specifically ask them to text me about. And yet do the opposite for other items. AND THEN even when they do ask THEY DONT LISTEN. For example, this one asshole messaged to tell me the store was out of baguettes. I had ordered 5. I asked if they had other brands of baguette, or even just french bread. He texted me a picture of a pack of 6 sub rolls - which, as we know, are neither french nor baguettes, they're like glorified hot dog buns. I said no - I do not want those, skip. Guess what I received? 5 packs of the 6 sub rolls. So I had 30 subs I did not ask for.
I haven't always had perfect experience with women shoppers but I have NEVER had as bad an experience with a female shopper as a male shopper. Women shoppers text me afterwards to thank me for my detailed notes and substitutions. I can't even say it's weaponized incompetence because in this case what are they trying to achieve even? They're just...inept. They've spent their entire lives being catered to by mommy or their GFs and now for the first time they're doing this job which they assume is sooo easy cos the women can obviously do it and they just are So. Bad.
[–]ArtisticBrilliant491FDS Newbie 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I saw this and died!!!!! Talk about weaponized incompetence! This is the VERY definition of it. Girl, just throw the entire man out after this stunt.
I call it a "stunt" cuz that's what it is, an intentional act designed to mislead and alarm. He knows what he's doing and should be shown the door for it. Immediately. If he's gonna play games like this over groceries, do ya think he's gonna help out when the shit really hits the fan? Bye asshole. Go play gamezzzz with some one else.

Ughhhh literally why I don’t send my husband to do the shopping unless I absolutely need something and can’t go out myself 🙄🙄 people telling me I need to rely on him more but weaponized incompetence is his specialty and to save myself the trouble, I just do everything myself. And he doesn’t understand that I’m so stressed all the time and how resentful I am towards him because I literally do everything except bring home a paycheck. All that’s left for me to do it work and get money literally. Sometimes I wish I could get my shit together and work so I could leave him behind, but we have kids and at the rage of prices rising, it’s very unlikely. A girl can dream though, right :/

If he did this to his boss he would be fired!

I don't know if I have enough points to post yet, but going to try.
I felt lucky dating later in life as most men weren't fresh out of moms house and were generally more competent. I agree with everyone saying women enable men to be totally incapable like this, I'd leave them to starve, I'm simply not that woman.
If I send my bf to the store, it'll be for a very specific deal and he'll call a few times, which I'll mock him for (wasn't really his fault for 2 of the items as his store never updates the sale prices and he doesn't want me to have to go back later if it's wrong). He does most of the shopping on his own though, I only cook if I want to and he does most of the cleaning at both our houses.
