Young boys need individualism and more gender abolishment, not positive masculinity. Positive masculinity is just another rigid standard for young boys to be forced to adhere to. Just because positive masculinity benefits women, doesn't mean it's good for men.

For example, sure being some benevolent protector/provider that walk on the side walk is beneficial to women. But this also harms men too, by putting pressure on men to risk their lives in dangerous situations or bust their ass with 12 hour 7 day work shifts. This mindset will just manipulate young boys into being in one sided relationships with women, where they must be progressive with female gender roles. But still traditional when it comes to male gender roles though.

Similar to how young girls are allowed to define femininity for themselves, or not care about femininity at all. Young boys should be allow this luxury too. Both the Left and Right is hell bent on making sure there is still a masculinity model status quo for young boys to follow.

So boys absolutely need more room for individual identity, not another checklist labeled “healthy manhood.” If “positive masculinity” becomes another standard you’re judged against, then yeah. it defeats its own purpose.

This is how we save young boys from the manosphere. And also the manosphere is already aware of this huge blindspot or cognitive dissonance in society. That's how they become successful with young boys. The manosphere weaponize this cognitive dissonance.

A lot of y’all say gender roles are oppressive until it comes to men, then suddenly boys still need a “healthy masculine role” to perform for society. That’s not liberation, that’s just rebranding the same expectations with softer language.

Again If girls are allowed to define femininity however they want or reject it entirely, then boys deserve the exact same freedom without being guilted into becoming “good useful men.” I’m tired of people pretending this contradiction doesn’t exist.

That’s exactly why manosphere content hits young boys so hard. They notice the double standard before most adults are willing to admit it.

It’s will be the same shit, different toilet. People idea of progressive “positive masculinity” still won’t include broke men, short men, or bisexual men. Society keeps pretending it wants men to be emotionally open and authentic, but there are still obvious social penalties for men who fall outside the ideal male image. A lot of people only support “healthy masculinity” when the man is still confident, attractive, useful, successful, tall, financially stable, and socially dominant. The second a man lacks status, suddenly all that progressive language disappears.

That’s why I don’t buy the idea that positive masculinity is some revolutionary new thing. To me it just feels like toxic masculinity rewritten in a more socially acceptable way. Men are still expected to perform. Men are still expected to sacrifice. Men are still expected to protect, provide, stay composed, and be useful to everyone around them. The only difference now is people moralize it with therapy language and feminism instead of old school conservatism.

I also notice how feminist conversations about “abolishing gender roles” almost always become selective when men are involved. Women are encouraged to redefine femininity however they want. They can reject motherhood, reject beauty standards, reject submissiveness, reject domestic roles, and society calls that empowering. But men rejecting masculinity roles still get shamed way harder. A man saying “I don’t want to provide,” “I don’t want to protect people,” or “I don’t care about being masculine” still gets treated like a failure by both conservatives and progressives. Or the left automatically put these men in the "feminine gay man" category, because they think men who step out of their gender roles are not "real-men" deep down inside.

In conclusion: Young boys don't need a masculinity model that is just traditional masculinity with a feminist gaze/aesthetic.
