The individual should decide for themselves wether the risk is worth the outcome. I don't do professional trampolining because of the risk, other people love it and are happy to take that risk.

I have sexual needs and I like to have them satiated in-between relationships. Im happy to take the low risk of assault and STDs to have those needs met.

For me there's usually a high chance of orgasm. If it was as low as some women's like yourself, I wouldn't take the risk.

It’s important to note that a lot of things fall under casual sex. Any sex not in a committed long term relationship is considered casual. What it seems you’re describing are one night stands. Yes you can argue that it is highly unlikely that a random one night stand is going to be great. However, the same can’t be said for all casual sex.

I'm going to say that this is fundamentally the issue with people on this sub. Extrapolation from one small view to the many never works.

Also, I would say that the issue is probably you not properly vetting your sexual partners. Or not being able to assert yourself sexually in the moment to get an orgasm. Yes there are plenty of dud roots but there are plenty of great ones too. It's about educating yourself on how to weed men out and how to advocate for your sexual pleasure. A lot of women find this hard to do.

It sounds like you personally have not had good experiences. No one says you have to have casual sex, but casual sex is not inherently bad for women. And plenty of men absolutely enjoy making sure a partner has a good time, even a casual one.

You're either meeting the wrong kind of men, or you personally just don't like casual sex. It's OK not to have it, but clearly some people enjoy it.

Casual sex is like gambling for women. Some women like the jackpot payout from it (a fun sexual adventure, possible eventual commitment from a high value man, etc. ).

I agree that most of the time women are losers in this gamble, though. But some women are the gambling type, so I don’t think that anyone should be denying them this opportunity for “fun”. Some women do end up with positive experiences. I just personally don’t want anything to do with these women since I don’t see much overall value in casual sex compared to attempting to establish emotional bonds in a relationship and then having sex once one has feelings of love for a person.

Some people enjoy and find excitement in engaging in risky behaviours. People enjoy conquering fear, sliding through the door and grabbing their hat just as the boulder would have crushed them, the thrill of the push-pull of a one-night stand, and the romance of it all conceptually.

Am I one of them? No. I didn't need to fuck around to find out on this one. I could analyze this all pretty well without trying my hand at it.

But, I get why people do it. I get why people do fleeting and risky things. I get that most of these women and men don't even really care if they orgasm because the real thing they're chasing is being desired and wanted by someone and using their will, charm, and skills to achieve this. The sex is the side-dish and whether it is good or not, won't really change the sense of glee they get. The fun isn't in trusting or orgasm, it's in the being desired, chased, and caught.

Would I encourage people to do this? Not really. But I don't actually buy women are being encouraged to do this. I'm sure some are, but I'd say most women receive a lot more, "don't be a slut" speeches than "be a slut" speeches. I think people are make choices in all the directions. And that's fine.

Having casual sex is so foreign to me. But that’s my choice not to engage in it. I’m the agony aunt for friends after their bad hookups and/ or emotional breakdowns after regretful sex.

Hookup culture can be psychologically destructive. It stunts people’s views about sex and intimacy. Sex is compartmentalized, separated from intimacy, and reduced to body parts and sex acts. How unsexy is that? Women are brainwashed to believe that they’re desirable if they’re sexually available, when in reality men will take whoever is available for their own sexual release.

Hookup culture also negatively affects non-participants. We’re cock teasers or on the prowl. Assumptions are made about us. I wore this off-shoulder sweater Imgur photo for a brunch at a swanky hotel a few days ago. Got there early, was hit on by a guest who slipped me a note with hotel room number. Note said “Your sweater is telling me to relieve it of its duty, I would love to do that and more to you”. Later, a staff member told me that sometimes women go there hoping to meet men for hookups.
