We hear a lot about women wanting a potential spouse to have a level of education that is at least as high as theirs, which would indicate that degrees make people more attractive, but not all degrees are equal. As a man, I certainly wouldn't see every degree as making a woman more attractive. Some degrees would, some wouldn't. I get the impression that there are certain degrees which would make a man instantly more attractive to women and some that don't. If there is a large dispute over the value which some degrees provide, that might shed some light into the current culture of relationships and dating.

My own humble perspective:

Degrees that I, strictly personally, feel like would make a woman more attractive are degrees like accounting, finance, and laboratory sciences because they would indicate that she is smart, capable, hard working, employable, etc. Artistic and intellectual degrees like literature, language, music, dance, history, etc. can also indicate intelligence, culture and capability despite not offering much for employability. MDs and JDs along with other legal and health/medical degrees indicate lots of drive and intelligence but also potential lifestyle incompatibilities.

For me, degrees involving less rigorous science are questionable and can go either way. This includes many education, psychology and social sciences degrees. Degrees which involve activism tend to become a negative in my view and anything dogmatic or heavily political is probably a big negative for me.

I was married before I got my better degrees, so I didn't get to really experience any big changes, though I felt them socially to some extent. At dinner recently, a friend who finished training as a cardiologist in his 30s said women were coming out of the woodwork, and another friend who became a lawyer in his 30's said it was a big boost, but nothing close to what the doctor described. Similar conversations give me the impression that business degrees are meh and science/physics degrees can come with a nerdy stigma and definitely don't get anyone laid.
