My wife has been unemployed for three years, not completely her fault although more than once she's passed on a job. But that leaves me working 48-60 hours a week to keep things together and she gets upset because 'we never do anything any more'. Sure you might think I'm kind of boring but I got that way keeping the lights on and food on the table. Besides, if you're leaving a man for boredom maybe you should look in the mirror and ask yourself how'd he get that way?

Stuff like this irks me. One, for the obvious unfairness of all of it to men, but second, and this is the reason I'm not married.... it's a commitment, a choice, a contract. People throw it away because of stupid emotions. They go up and down and change all the time, especially for us females. Why would you think that a life with the same person day in and day out WOULDN'T get boring at times? Is it honestly a shock to these women that life gets stale sometimes? It's not your husbands fault, its just reality. Why couldn't that woman have rode WITH her husband across two countries? Why'd she have to ditch him to do that?

The concerning thing is that boredom is the #1 reason, IMO. It's not all fun and games, but I think our generation has a short attention span in general, so when things stop being fun, they just move on.

Relationships are difficult, and I just think people want to split for something new instead of working on it.

I mean, people can do what they want, but we got the "short attention span" label for a reason.

I've stopped talking about the man behind the curtain, no one wants to hear it and I've come to realize that most people are happier (for a while, at least) not knowing.

My ex wife fed me some of this BS when she left. I pointed out that I did many things and tried to include her in them but she would refuse. And because of her requirements for our style of living we did not have the time to go do ALL the things she wanted. And if I did not work as much/hard as I did to support that lifestyle we would not be able to afford ALL those thing either. Don't get me wrong, we would always be on road trips out of state, flights to Hawaii. It was just never enough. Then the day she got promoted at work and started making more than me after I could not find a job in my field she started sleeping around with one of her subordinates and took off on me. Jokes on her tho. Her company was fly by night and bounced leaving her and her lover without a job. As for me? Got back in my field and got my mortgage back on track and have my first son on his way. Life is good when you don't give us so easy.

Today my child is emancipated. She graduated highschool a month ago, turns 18 in July and is not disabled.

Over the years when I got a piece of mail from the child support agency it actually made me sick to my stomach because it was always bad news telling me that I'm paying more now. But as of late the mail tells me that her emancipation date is approaching and it's like a light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

I have an issue where her mother decided to move without telling me for ten months so I get to pay that and 9 percent but then 25% after tax pay is back in my pocket. This has been horrible and I will never get married or have kids again. Maybe it's not one of the goals to financially devastate a man and make him never want to be married again but that at least in my case is the result.

The title is a bit misleading, as the article says

The funny thing here is the usage of "popular" and "couples". The "no longer in love", I guess it's easy to explain that, just head over to /r/ you know where.

Ninety per cent of these marriages would be perfectly serviceable if the people involved would just put in more effort.

Really interesting. Just another case of where society steadfastly believes one thing which turns out to be utterly untrue. Men break up marriages with cheating? Nope.

Even the women in the interviews seem to be blaming men for not being exciting enough! Heaven forbid some poor bastard wants to have a hobby and watch train DVDs from time to time.

Honestly this makes me so sad and just crushes my hopes. I have a great girlfriend going on a few years now though. I hope something like this never happens to us.

This is not very surprising information. I've some experience in the area, and I can say that I've seen sone women with mid-life crisis which was the prompting for divorce. I'm not sure I would call it boredom though...

When people get married I think the preist should modify the covenant to say:

"Love in sickness and in health, boredom and excitement, till death do us part".

Maybe people will realize that a lifelong commitment is not voided if you are bored.

I can see that and I can understand. Im more than happy to stay home with a gf and play some video games or watch a movie or something like that, while she might prefer to go out or something. I also understand that there should be a balance on what you do as a couple. My main problem, is that the vast majority of the time it falls on the guys shoulder to plan for a date. Its our duty to make the relationship fun and exciting. It should be an even responsability

My ex husband and I split with us 'growing apart' as the main reason and I would like to say I didn't take any alimony or any of his retirement. I flat out refused. Recently, my lawyer buddy told me I was an idiot for doing that, but whatever, I have a good life now. My ex and I are still on good terms.

Not all women are money grubby when they divorce.. Some just want to get on with their lives. When I read this article I didn't feel at all like she was living a fantasy with his money.

I think we can learn an important lesson about Western thought and ideologies by simply staring at the facts. And the fact remains that we live in a selfish and narcissistic society that empowers individualism over the well-being of others. This isn't contained to only women, but I think this article exemplifies the selfishness that is becoming more and more apparent in our future generations. Marriage is no longer seen as a selfless commitment that views to help make oneself better by bettering your other, but becomes about pleasing yourself and feeling "warm and fuzzy" inside. Love is dying in Western culture and, after reading this article, I feel as though it will be gone soon. Love is no longer a separate entity that is a spiritual/mental/emotional/physical bridge to connect two people together but is now a winding road that attempts to service the agent in question. Just my thought.

I traverse this subreddit often, and while occasionally some good posts are made, there's too much of this going: This, of course, being men over-reacting to the paradigm shift of sexual value and social standing.

It's time to face the hard truths: Beta Males are just not as valuable as they used to be. Women are no longer dependent on you socially or financially. They didn't just start being bored, they were always bored but had no other choice.

Raging at this kind of stuff and calling it "Men's Rights" is no better than feminists getting upset that male sluts are cherished and not shamed.

If only there was some contract people could sign prior to marriage that sets out the terms of possession of assets if the marriage later dissolves. I make more than my boyfriend, and if we get married and I support him, doesn't that make me feminist? But if I marry a richer guy, then clearly I'm after his money, which is anti-Men's Rights. Additionally, TIL all I want in life is a big wedding.
