It penalizes the successful and rewards the losers. It makes zero sense to me. Like split the assets. Fine w.e still ridiculous but basically paying the loser for x amount of years because someone thinks they should maintain a standard of living is insane. Like 6 months of living expenses. Then get a job like everyone else. The laws on marriage and divorce are archaic and need to be revamped.
