Women control this aspect of society. They are the selectors. I don't know why you're complaining about this to men. Women control their behavior in terms of dating/ sleeping around, and men react. Men aren't going around like vikings kidnapping women and taking them back on their boats as concubines. Modern dating is about courtship, not pillaging, and women control that with their behavior.

You want to be promiscuous? Fine. We'll stop committing to you in relationships.

You want to share some of the traditional roles of the household and stop calling men head of the household? Fine, but you're going to have the extra responsibility that comes with it, and we aren't going to treat you like a traditional lady.

You want to demonize us and ruin the nuclear family structure because of the myths you believe about the patriarchy running the world? Fine. I'm going to buy a beach house and a boat and let you have fun being a single mom.

The traditional woman is very rare and likely due to the nature of society. On avg, a college graduate will perform better economically than non graduates. Last I checked there were more female graduates than male. So more women taking on debt and with higher earning potentials...that alone erodes the concept of traditional woman. Why should she concern herself with cooking or your shoes when she makes more money than her male counter part and has to work because of the financial stress her family is in.

I would welcome a traditional relationship...other than the financial shortcomings, I think its better division of labor for the nuclear family (breadwinner + housewife)

Using my male friend group as a barometer, no one really cares if a woman is “traditional”. They’re usually just struggling to get attention from women that meet the bare minimum threshold of attractiveness which is usually just don’t be overweight. However, 3/5 eventually ended up getting lucky after years and years without success.

Lots of men categorize the women they like into two categories. FWB material, and relationship material. Whether this is right or wrong is a matter of opinion, but this is the reality of how a lot of men operate.

The reason why these men appear contradictory, is because people assume they hold the same standards for both categories of women.

If a woman sleeps around, a man isn't going to be interested in doing all the sacrificial chivalrous stuff for her, because she's not behaving traditionally herself.

If she wants a relationship, but he doesn't want one with her, he's not going to behave traditionally for her. Even if she's traditionally-minded.

The rising trend of men backing out of traditional courtship is a reaction to women no longer being traditional themselves, but still having traditional expectations of men.

I’d imagine most men have been priced out of being a “traditional man.” I’m sure tons of dudes here would be happy to purchase a nice house and take care of someone forever, but that’s nearly impossible for like 90% of young men with the cost of housing alone. I’m not in the position a lot of people are in here. I’m engaged and own a house, but certainly wouldn’t be able to maintain this lifestyle without my fiancé and I being a team. Could she quit her job tomorrow? Yeah, but we’d be living off rice and beans.

Aside from both of us working and me doing all the cooking, we’re more or less a traditional household.

I personally am what we could call a traditional man, the problem is to find a woman who is ready to be a traditional woman. I am religious, I am able to pay the bills, to give my card to my wife everytime she needs to pay anything she wants, I'm waiting for the marriage to do things, etc... so I'm preserving myself but why would I give basically my life to a woman who could decide to look at other men, decide to work and this no longer be able to assume her role, etc?

For me, it's an all or nothing game... I'm happy actually so it's either I find a wife who is as loyal as I am, or I stay single because why would I bother myself with useless problems?

I have noticed that even women who are not traditional still end up doing maintenance on their man. Such as, cooking, cleaning, and overall just doing what traditional women do anyway. The difference is that traditional women go in with both feet and eyes wide open, they know what they're getting into whereas the non-traditional woman has no clue and then flounders all over the relationship because 1. It's not what she signed up for 2. Even if she wants to do it she is inept at it and 3. There is the ego-crushing factor that she put up a front all her life that she's an independent woman and this and that and now she's doing traditional shit and with none of the appreciation from a man who thinks exactly like she does.

I certainly do not want that. I want someone who is expressive, can debate high level subjects, can pay her own way and will. If kids come we will discuss whatever changes are need. I and most of TRP may not be exactly traditional. But well... TRP says for us to be the peak of value in both traditional and non tradicional ways. TRP is about self improvement... first and foremost.

So most of us who go for self improvement are not only capable of protection and providing (we are strong, competent and wealthy men after all), but also support, nurturing and caring too (depending on what the situation demands, sometimes you MUST be supportive, caring and nurturing in order to get her interested in you, we must adapt to circumstances)...

The thing is, like all men who strive to be high value...

We find no reason to remain in an exclusive romantic relationship with a woman who provides to us not even a sliver of what we provide them... heck, even if you have 4-5 9/10 women together, they cant even compare to give us anything compared to what we give to EACH of them... so... why bother have an exclusive romantic relationship? Women have no intent on having a give and take... so may as well have a use for them which is focused in their most valuable aspect (sex) no?

See the issue here? the issue is not ideological... but economical... why would you restrict yourself to a worse off state such as traditional behavior... if almost all women refuse to give us anything positive in return? I aint even sure the traditionalist guys would accept such a bad trade, and would just have a constant stream of short term relationships or refuse to deal with women altogether instead.

I'm not particularly traditional but compared to the most recent trends I guess I am...

What do I demand? Equality when possible and respect when not possible. The girls I date can dress provocatively and have male friends. There's just a context for everything and there's common sense. It really shouldn't be explained. I really shouldn't have to explain what's and isn't appropiate.

Am I ready to be traditional myself? If that means being generous with my money and even fully supporting her when she's not making any money...then yes. If it means doing some of the chores that women used to avoid and men used to do, then yes again.

I'm more into equality though and if I'm dating a girl and she doesn't make any money I'll at least ask her to look for a part time job and be focused on the house chores/kids in the meanwhile, but ideally, we should share responsibilities and we both should be working if possible.

What's the traditional stuff that you meant, though? Is it just allowing a stay at home mum?

There is no such thing as a non traditional man. There are men and then there are little boys. Real men wouldn't split the bill. They want their woman to dress with self-respect. They wouldn't be in a relationship where there isn't equal respect and understanding between both partners. When a relationship lacks respect, love, and admiration on both sides, partners do things for their own individual pleasure instead of honoring their partner's wishes. Yes, you're correct and I made a similar post before. Most men want a traditional woman without being a traditional man. If you aren't born (relatively) wealthy or have a heavy dose of luck, most men cannot be "traditional" in the sense that they financially provide for all of a woman's needs.

I would LOVE to be the provider...if it made economic sense. I've done everything "right:"

I graduated from University and built skill sets
I worked multiple jobs in college to keep my head above water
I earned nearly $50K in scholarships
I climbed the corporate ladder, moving and job hopping frequently to further my career
I settled in a well sized, relatively cheap Midwestern city

And I STILL can never conceivably afford to provide for the needs of a woman. In my early 30's I'm earning about $85K, solid money for the Midwest, and I've made a lot of progress on my Student Loans (but still have a ways to go.)

But I can't make enough to support a wife (let alone children) on this income. The math just doesn't add up. I didn't do anything WRONG, the issue is that the demand to be provided for no longer is in sync with the economies of late stage capitalism.

I'd LOVE to provide for a partner. And in earlier generations, given the work I've put in, I would be able to. But not in the 2020's. When women say they want a provider, they think they mean they want a hard working man, but in practice what they really want is a man who comes from money.

None of that shit matters: our modern economy DEMANDS dual incomes (especially if you want children) thanks to decades of wage suppression and ballooning costs of living.

I know I'm not marriage material as a result. And it hurts like a motherfucker. But you can't tell me to my face that it's my fault - because I've done everything right, and I know I'm not the only man who feels this way.
