In the 90s it was super common that (female mostly) celebs were kissed without any consent, Cameron Diaz, Uma Thurman, Halle Barry, Shilpa Shetty. Their harassers (including McCarthy) faced backslash but not as much as they should have.

This is definitely a problem although one that I think is improving. The hope is to dispel toxic beliefs that men can’t face sexual assault, and or have negative feelings about sexual encounters they’ve had. There unfortunately is no justice for men or women who have been assaulted unless the victim reports the crime so reducing stigma around it encourages more men to speak about their experiences. Where I do see change is the amount of men who are coming forward is rising where I live, and there have also been a slew of very public cases, many involving teachers and students, where the teacher, a woman, has been charged and convicted. All steps in the right direction but of course there needs to be more.

Tangent, but an ex GF told me her first story of being with a woman. She said it was with her roommate and casually dropped it was while she was dating a guy exclusively and he didn’t know.

I said “so you cheated on Alex with a woman?”

The look of “cannot compute” in her eyes was hilarious in hindsight. She was kicked to the curb within a few weeks.

Women are actively encouraged to view themselves as having less accountability than men and they are raised like this and don’t even see it.

It seems more likely to me that you want women to look at these incidents and say clearly, “No, that’s not okay, that’s wrong.” Well here you go.

It’s not okay, it’s wrong, and it’s offensive and upsetting that these sorts of sexual misconduct incidents get brushed over and played for laughs when they involve older women and younger men. Women should keep their hands to themselves, and when incidents like this happen, they should be treated with the distaste and gravity they deserve.

You're completely right. In my life, I've known a girl who threatened repeatedly to take her own life if his ex didn't have sex with her and nothing happened. I've known another who "jokingly" pushed her ex into having sex with her even though he was saying no repeatedly. He cried at the end, apparently. Nothing happened to her.

It extends even outside of sex however. I've been slapped across the face by a girl I barely talked to as a "joke" and nothing happened to her. A few years later, I saw a guy get slapped, and he slapped back. A few guys around beat him up for it. I know someone who had her girlfriend at the time put a knife under his throat when he tried to leave her. Nothing happened to her.

In the tramway, once an old woman kissed my neck randomly. Nothing happened to her.

I know a guy whose sister abused him so heavily he has trauma Induced amnesia that wiped all his memories from before he was 15. Nothing happened to her.

I can keep telling examples of abuse from women onto men all around me forever and never once was there consequences. Not even social consequences. People just acted as if it was normal. As of nothing could be done to stop it.

Feminism has created the man=bad, woman=good culture. So when a woman rapes a young boy, well the boy must have done something to encourage her because women can do no wrong.

I was sexually molested by my step mother as a (very) young child. I've been told by men and women that I was lucky, or asked what I did to encourage it. Women have asked if she was abused as if it were an excuse.

Femimists have said that male children being sexually abused is a good thing so they can understand the "real" victims. (Girls). Feminists have said the same of women sexually assaulting men. If women are against the sexual assault of male children and adult men, I have never seen it.

Men rarely report, but I do believe that if they do, they'll be given the same justice available for any human regardless of gender or sex.

Most women take years too before they get the strength and courage to file a complaint. I believe it's not easy for men either.

I didn’t know about this so had a look at the coverage of your 12 year old example and was hard pressed to find anything that was positive and complimentary of Jenny McCarthy’s actions at the music awards. Words that kept popping up in google, news articles and YouTube was ‘creepy’, ‘molesting’, quotes from Bieber stating he felt violated, and references to ‘cougar attacks’.

There must of been backlash, as McCarthy released a statement defending her actions. People then called her out for the crap statement, as she tried to joke about ‘cougar rage’. She may have not been cancelled by todays standards, but her actions weren’t celebrated or accepted.

Problem is that we don’t teach any men about this and female on male sexual assault is treated as a joke by both genders. Unfortunately, a LOT of women take advantage of this to assault men

It's a combination of two factors:

Who does the shaming of the perpetrator?

When a man sexually abuses a woman, the woman is likely to be defended by 1. other women, and 2. men who have a reason to care about that woman (her brother, father, friend, husband, etc) Hence why "I have a boyfriend" is a common refrain to get a guy to leave a girl alone- he is unlikely to just take "No" or "I have a girlfriend" as a rejection. There are random other men who might defend the woman, but there are just as many men likely to downplay it.

When a man is sexually abused by a woman, the man might get some defense from an empathetic woman, but generally other men won't care much, or will even call him lucky or tease him for being upset.

So with a woman victim, her own people support her, and some of the other people. With a man victim, the support he gets will likely come from the other people. His own don't care.

The result of the abuse.

A raped woman will suffer psychological harm. If raped by the opposite sex, she will suffer penetration from a penis, which has a good chance in resulting in pregnancy or STD (it is easier to get an STD as a receiver). As it spawns in her perpetrator physical pleasure to put the penis inside her, he is likely to do so repeatedly, which as she is not stimulated, will highly likely cause her physical internal damage. Due to human sexual dimorphism, he is likely bigger than her, and due to cultural tendencies, he likely has more power than her, both of which contribute directly to her vulnerability.

Therefore, when people think of protecting a woman from sexual abuse, they think of the likely next step- she is physically overpowered, physically harmed, impregnated, infected, and psychologically harmed.

A raped man, if raped by the opposite sex, will suffer psychological harm. If his rapist is a woman, there's nothing for her to receive direct stimulation from inserting into him- she still might shove in something, but has no reason to beyond a desire to be obnoxious. It doesn't do much for her. She is likely smaller than and has less power than him. She might injure his penis while moving on it in a way that hurts him. If she gets pregnant, it's more or less the court's issue to deal with that- it doesn't really physically affect him unless the court decides to unfairly rule that he should pay some support, but that's a social construct, not an inherent result. He may get a disease, but is unlikely.

Therefore, when people think of protecting a man from sexual abuse, they think of the likely next step- maybe some psychological harm (if they weren't tricked into thinking men don't experience this). A small likelihood of physical harm. The court system being jerks- but that can't really be handled by directing attention at the sexual abuser.

(Note, Of course, worse things and lesser things can happen to any rape victim, and sexual abuse doesn't directly lead to rape. I intend to simply summarize why people's immediate reaction seems so different).

This is the social manifestation of real differences between men and women. Especially at the extremes, male predation means something very different from female predation. The consequences, incentives, and likelihood are incredibly asymmetrical. So when a woman engages in marginal misconduct, it doesn’t set off alarms in the brain in the same way it does when men do it. And then add in a little social reinforcement on top, and you have two very different reactions. And they should be different reactions.

People can try to say that emotional/psychological/gut reaction should not factor into it, but the problem is that without that factor, sexual assault doesn’t even make sense as its own class of crime. What makes one consent violation worse than another? When a man places his hand on a woman’s shoulder vs her breasts, is treating those things differently a double standard? Are wet-willies equally as bad as rape? No, and it’s because millions of years of evolution has given psychological significance to sexual assault. Male sexuality is inherently more threatening than female sexuality.
