Q 4 BPers: Do women generally struggle with dating today?

Generally, I don't think so. Far too many options to actually have a true struggle. Whatever struggles they have, are because of their own inaction. Far too many of them just take a seat back. The entire world will acknowledge and hell even help them with their struggles if they weren't so passive.

That being said, I do hope each and every one of them finds their happiness.

Do women struggle to find a man willing to date her because he wants to date ANYONE and would like to have sex? No, most women could find a man who would take any woman he could put his dick in.

But I do think it’s inevitable that women will struggle, like men, to find a partner who will value her as a person, care if she’s upset, go out of their way to make her happy and have good boundaries and the ability to communicate them in a way that’s productive and reasonable? Absolutely.

Hell, I’m a queer man and most of my queer male friends agree that THIS is the struggle even in a prevalent male hookup culture.

Everyone struggles with dating at some point. Even if you are born with every advantage, it's still going to be difficult to put yourself out there and get hurt over and over until you find the right person. It's still going to suck to live in a world where dating apps have turned looking for a partner into a game and where the way we socialize has changed drastically in just the past 5 years alone.

Do certain individuals have it easier? Of course, but that doesn't mean they don't have their own set of issues to deal with, and it certainly doesn't mean that just because a few women are living life on easy mode that every other woman is as well.

Yes I think everyone struggles with dating.

Women face rejection. But men will still sleep with you. Which can be really confusing to deal with. It's the most mixed message of mixed messages. A guy will pursue relentlessly, talk to you everyday, open up to you, flirt with you..... But not actually like you like that or want a relationship but acts like you're in a relationship? And its pretty much up to us to vet these guys out. And manage our own expectations and emotional bandwidth. And this type is usually the quantity of guys. They want attention and validation of you but don't actually want you. Or just want sex with your body. Finding men who actually like you takes time. Have a good sense of self. Know when to walk away. Don't give the benefit of the doubt. Move in silence, it isn't an airport you don't have to announce your departure.

I describe women's dating struggles as going to a mall knowing what you want to buy and then being accosted by a bunch of people at those kiosks. Trying to sell you something. Some may be good products. But you aren't looking for those products. Then others are trying to sell you a cheap Shien stuff at like 40xs the original price. Someone's outright trying to scam you. Someone trying to sell you a phone you don't need and getting really aggro that you don't want to buy a phone so they get more pushy and insistent you don't want to buy a phone. And it's kind of nonstop until you actually get to the place where you find the thing you want to buy? It's pretty much that. Even when you aren't trying to buy anything, they will still pester you to buy.

Yes. From what the younger women I know say, it sounds like they still have to face things like rejection (anyone dating faces this), being new to relationships and making mistakes, having trouble finding men who want the same things or have the same values, risks of men being rapists or stalkers, risks of pregnancy and STIs…

I would say that men and women typically struggle with dating in different ways. For men it's a struggle of even finding a partner in the first place. Loneliness can feel like a struggle that keeps spiraling and you can't get away from. For women, loneliness isn't an issue, but finding the right person is. Lots of men reveal themselves to be very uncaring people, and this causes issues with women in dating.

The comparison, I think is similar to this: A bad dating experience for a woman is like choosing a food that's expired (from a fully stocked cupboard) and getting food poisoning. A bad male dating experience is starving to death.

Obviously each individual will experience things differently and the above analogies are not 100% accurate for everyone, but I do think they're generally true, a lot of the time.

As for things women can do to avoid this, maybe better discernment. Sometimes the guy that has trouble with social cues and isn't the most confident isn't a loser or a bad potential partner. And if actually finding partners is the problem, the biggest and easiest thing to change that will give the most difference is attitude. A trend I've noticed lately is that women who are vain and have an "I'm better than you attitude" gain the most camaraderie with other women. But that kind of trait, when heavily worn on one's sleeve is one of the most unattractive traits a woman (or person in general) can have.

It's generally easier for women to enter a relationship given the options one can have but there is no guarantee for the quality

What a woman can improve is the filtering process and her approach. As all human beings, they generally use criterias that are not for their best interest (attraction vs treatment) so raising their standard and knowing what their core value system is will help them find a compatible partner

A woman tend to date only one person at a time and can end up in problematic relationship or situationship, but when they learn the rules of commitment, they learn to date in parallel and only select one person when the commitment is agreed upon

I think they struggle to find good matches who will commit to them. Situationships are rampant, finding hookups for example is very easy, but finding a partner with mutual attraction, similar core values, dating compatibility AND willingness to commit is very hard. I think that when going into dating, women need to ask themselves if the person they're seeing is going to make their life better or not.

Do you appreciate their company? Are they a functional adult that can take care of themselves? Are they stable or their life is a rollercoaster?
