I often hear Red Pill types talk about how young women today are going out every weekend and having sex with a different person, but that doesn't seem to be true. Casual sex does happen, but I would say that the typical female in the US and Western countries only has a handful of sexual partners in college, and less than 10 sexual partners throughout her lifetime.

My personal experience is consistent with this conclusion, but I've probably partied less than the average person so I couldn't confidently say this based on personal experience alone. I've come to this conclusion based on reading a number of studies on the topic. Here are a few:

1: A study comparing the sexual behaviour of American 18-25-year-olds in 2004-2012 and 1988-1996. Only around half had more than 2 sexual partners since age 18, and only around a quarter had more than 5. Less than a third had more than one partner in the past year.

2 The median number of lifetime partners in the US, as of 2011-2015, is 6.1 for men and 4.2 for women. Of course, the discrepancy may be because of women understating, so perhaps the true number is more like 6 for both men and women.

3 A survey on the sexual behaviour of university students in New Zealand. The median number of lifetime partners was 3 for both men and women, and only around a quarter had had 6 or more. Most had not had more than one partner in the past 12 months.

I'd be interested to hear of any studies which suggest that promiscuity is higher, or arguments as to why studies like the ones I've provided are unreliable and understate promiscuity. Don't give statistics on the mean number of sexual partners, as opposed to the median, because median is the better measure of the typical person.
