He's fallen into the eternal trap of personal responsibility vs. criminal responsibility, and he's made a hash of explaining it.

You have a responsibility to yourself to take care of yourself and avoid risky situations without being prepared to accept those risks.

If you read his other comments that's what he's trying to say.

People seem to think in black and white though, that by saying the woman has some responsibility to take care of herself and shoulder the consequences of any actions that are risky, that that somehow absolves the rapist. It does not. The rapist is 100% liable for his crimes and does not have any excuse.

However, she also has some responsibility to herself in a risky situation. Unfortunately the example he used was terrible because going to a party with a rich guy doesn't suggest any kind of risk like that.

In fact, early feminism was about demanding the right to risk being assaulted or raped in exchange for removing restrictions placed on women. Keeping women locked up, giving them a curfew, a chaparone, forbidding them from participating in all kinds of activities etc. much like some parts of the world still do, just like men do (who are also attacked and engage in risky behaviour, without restriction)

Those guardians said hey, we're protecting you from a dangerous world where you might be assaulted. And women fought back and said we want freedom, the freedom to be allowed to take those risks if we want, and the freedom to shoulder the responsibility ourselves and to risk the consequences of what we do.

The guy worded his point utterly terribly and out of context it sounds like his mentality is one of an ignoramus but it doesn't look like that was his intention.

Regarding "Victim Blaming"

There is a fine line between "Fault" and "Responsibility".

As an analogy, you are responsible for your own pleasure. But If you don't orgasm, it isn't necessarily your fault.

You are responsible for your own safety. That doesn't make an assault your fault.

SJWs want to conflate the two and say that by assuming responsibility (for your own fucking well-being) is somehow revictimizing people and letting perpetrators off the hook.

Feminism fought for the right for women to be free. Free to risk exactly that situation.

The rapist is at fault for his actions, but the woman chose to take the risk. We also seem to ignore why she went to "party with a rich guy".

If you want to pretend men and women are equal, then you cannot give either special privileges in accountability and credibility.

There's nuance. Nobody deserves to be raped, and no victim of that crime (or any other) is to blame for it.

However, the decisions we make absolutely influence how likely we are to find ourselves in certain circumstances. If I walk down a dark alley in the bad part of town at 1 in the morning carrying fistfuls of $100 bills, I don't deserve to be robbed and I'm not to blame if I do... but I'm gonna get robbed.

The difference is, if a man robs me, I'm not going to blame all men. If a person of X skin color robs me, I'm not going to blame all people of X skin color. Etc.

I despise this black&white mentality that was foisted on us by progressives, the blindness to nuance and the unwillingness to interpret anything the way it was intended and instead interpret it through the perpetual outrage filter. This comment is morally perfectly okay, in fact I'm willing to bet that sane people still teach their daughters not to go to stangers' houses to "party" at night, especially in circumstances they can easily be overpowered and nobody knows where they are. If you take unnecessary risks and put yourself in a bad situation you're partially at fault morally if something happens to you, even if no legal responsibility applies to you.

It's also obvious to anyone with any amount of real-world experience that women are less inclined to take responsibility for their own actions than men. It might not sound PC, because it isn't, but it's true.

By feigning outrage and siding with those who suffocate open discussion we're just making our own job that much harder. If it's verboten to talk about un-PC truths here we might as well admit that progressives have already won, we have willingly put the shackles they designed on our own necks and we self-censor according to their expectations. Well, it could be even worse if we actually believed their bullshit about how men and women are the same while paradoxically women are better than men in every way, so saying anything non-positive about women is inherently hateful.

My personal philosophy is that people advocating for equal rights for men are looked down upon with everything we do or say being interpreted as evil or somehow against women, so the best strategy to take is to battle with facts and call out those who claim to be on our side but our in reality against women. I don't truly consider myself an MRA. To me, that term is just as bad as feminist. Neither people who identify as MRA nor feminist are bad since both terms still are rooted in trying to achieve equality, but true egalitarianism is key in the long run.

I think there's an underlying message that is worth telling and worth hearing hidden in there somewhere but this person just said it in a really stupid way. You can make the argument that hookup culture, the way society encourages and glorifies promiscuity in women can lead to them being in dangerous situations and they should definitely be aware of how their decisions can impact them and take responsibility for their bad decisions and learn from them while at the same time, the rapist is to blame for the actual rape.
