Reddit is largely used by young, left-leaning men. Unfortunately recent generations of men have been brainwashed with sexist propaganda ever since they started watching Disney movies. They propagate feminist ideology even when it’s against their own interests.

Sadly many of these men won’t realise that feminism doesn’t care for them until it slaps them in the face - e.g they get falsely accused of rape or destroyed in divorce courts.

This is exacerbated by the way political parties align themselves with specific issues. Unfortunately humans naturally see the world in this black and white ‘good v evil’ way. For many of them, to support the opposing political party is to literally support evil. And so to disagree with a core argument of their political party - e.g the world is a patriarchy, or black people are oppressed - means they are supporting the evil side. This is IMO why many young, left-leaning people will not even consider the idea that feminism is wrong. To do so would mean they are on the side of the so-called ‘far right’ political parties.

Sorry to bring politics into it. I’m not a particularly political person myself but I think all this stuff comes back to how mass media & politicians manipulate the population.

Because those groups aren't just about men's rights, but they're about disadvantaging women, and sometimes they even are against men who are trans, atheist or "modern" in some way or another.

All in all, there's nothing equal about those goals. Advocating for men's rights can coexist with other agendas that aren't discriminatory, and instead of supporting those toxic groups we should focus on keeping r/MensRights, and the others left, from going astray like that.

I recently made a post about this, but there has been a push to make men to be villains and women victims, this is simply how most people think about the positions of the sexes in society, men are the perpetrators, women are the prey.

So unfortunately a lot of men's groups end up in the cross hair as pushing the narrative that men are victims to tends ruffle a lot of feathers, then you throw in the fact that these subs tend to attract genuine mysoginist, who may or may not be cognizant of the fact they are mysoginistic, then the poor choice in language and how they tend to become a bit of a venting outlet.

You then end up with a lot of posts and comments that can be easily twisted and construed as misogynistic opinions and a right wing breeding ground of hate. Then bam the ban hammer comes in, it's not fair or reasonable especially because subs for women's support that have the same amount or even more mysandrist content/comments don't come under the same scrutiny, but it is what it is, and after arguing with several......colorful individuals on this subreddit I've noticed an unwillingness to suck in pride/sense of justice to get results and maintain an environment that's harder to criticize.

So all in all it's sort of a combination, of crusading by mysandrist groups pressuring reddit I to banning subs in the name of feminism, and the fact we have numerous misogynistic people in here as well as an unwillingness to adapt or face reality.

Pretty vexing all things considered especially when something as simple as being more critical and careful about how to word your opinions is met with fervent retaliation and people saying if they have to reign it in then men will be silenced and become 2nd class, seems pretty melodramatic to me but hey what can you do.

The amount of physical intimidation men and women receive doing simple things like handing out fliers to help stop sexual assault is so insane it's easy to see how people move more extreme in their views. I was at an event yesterday where a group of men walked up and said, "I raped two women this morning, they screamed while I laughed."

When these things happen and other men don't stand up and do something about it, it's hard to take what you care about seriously if you don't take what we care about seriously.

You're not gonna hear it from the people here, but these groups are banned because they are reactionary, anti-feminist groups only using "support for men" as a superficial justification for their misogyny.

There is a very large men's support subreddit that flourishes and has good relations with women on Reddit. I'm not linking it because everyone here is pure trash and would only make it worse, but if you're generally wanted support as a man, I recommend you search around for it. But if what you really want is to bitch about how women *actually* have it better and how women suck and how all rape accusations are false and so on, then you'll get banned in a heartbeat from that sub, so don't even bother. But again, if you genuinely are struggling-- say you have a tough job and wish you could support your family some other way, or you're back from a military engagement and struggling with mental health, or upset that male children are circumcised without consent (without trying to compare it to FGM), or feel like you lost your children unfairly in a divorce case, or wish you could dress in brighter colors without being made fun of due to gender norms, etc-- then you'd be more than welcome there, and you'd receive genuine support and helpful advice. Here you wouldn't get that anyway-- you'd just be told that society sucks and women treat men like shit and that the only solution is to become redpilled or blackpilled or MGTOWpilled or whatever.

If you want to be here, though, then that's what you want to hear; you're not looking for actual support.

Maybe if just once we could have a men's rights group focused primarily on men's rights it would succeed and be accepted as a mainstream Reddit community. That'd be great. Then the message of supporting and promoting men's rights would actually get broader traction across Reddit.

But instead we get constant bitching about feminism, complaints about women, generalisations and misogyny. It's beyond stupid. Imagine being aware of reddits lazer focus on anything resembling woman / feminism hate and still, somehow, making blatant unforced errors like up voting and poorly moderating those same sentiments.

It's almost like the smart move when suspected of women hate is to avoid anything resembling that and put extra effort into promoting a clean image, so that no one, not even the most anti-men users, could actually leverage any pretence or claim against you.

Men's rights are important but very few subs claiming to be in favour of that actually live up to it. Most just use it to bash feminism and women. why not use naming conventions like r/fuckfeminismbutwithadashofmensrights instead? That would at least be accurate.

ITT: People acting like those shithole subs actually contributed anything.

They were just echo chambers for people to shit on women in extremely toxic ways. Absolutely nothing of value was lost.

There is a very big difference of shitting on women and shitting on injustice against mens rights. Those subs didn't give a shit about mens rights, they just wanted to be toxic against women.

If a post came up in this sub about a man that killed his wife getting jail time, it would rightfully not garner much attention. In those subs they would ignore the fact that the man killed his wife and personally attack the woman because obviously the man is a saint and she had to have done something wrong.
