If it was socially acceptable for men to cheat I believe it would solve many issues in today’s society, less divorces. Less bastards. Etc etc. Also with woman’s sex being so freely available in today's sexual Market place to expect men to be traditional saints does not make any sense.

I don’t think there’s any excuse to cheat. That being said, I also don’t think it’s the worst thing you could ever do to your partner (in all circumstances). I don’t think the betrayal of one hookup is nearly as horrible as spending years making up countless lies to your partner about where you are and what you’re doing to sustain a secret affair. I have also spent most of my life as a polyamorist who doesn’t generally get jealous or possessive of my partners’ attractions to other people, so I understand my view probably isn’t the norm. I just think that unless you are sustaining a lie to a partner or you aren’t using protection, cheating isn’t the worst offence in the world. The hurt comes more from making your partner feel like you were living a lie, or from the amount of effort it takes to invent stories to excuse/cover up a regular affair.

Cheating, is it ever justified?

I cheated when I was married. There were a lot of circumstances surrounding it, but I don't think it's ever justified.

What are the conditions that make people want to cheat?

If there's no intimacy, and you aren't getting your needs fulfilled (not just sexually), those are the conditions where it happens. Sometimes, people aren't even looking; if your partner despises you and someone expresses desire for you, it's like a drug. I have sympathy for anyone who wants to say 'no thanks' but didn't.

Then, there are just people who don't consider it a problem. Avoid them if you can.

Is there anything we can do to prevent our partners from cheating?

Kind of yeah. You can communicate with them and cooperate with them about their needs long before they start looking elsewhere. Just have respect for your partner and speak with them openly, and everything else will follow.

Worst cases are:

There's a pregnancy. All you have to do is confirm paternity. Easy.

Cheating is bad and unacceptable, cheaters should be sent to prison/work camp and be forced to pay restitution to their partner. In some cases, even the death penalty is warranted. Don't @ me.

Are women turned on by her partner cheating?

I know of a couple where the guy cheated on the girl. You'd think they'd have broken up but instead they're still with each other. In fact after being found out for cheating their relationship seems happier and more stable than ever.

There might be more to it but it's weird. The reason I ask the above question is because I know that women will spend a whole afternoon whinging about certain traits in a man then the next day hookup with a guy that has all those traits she complained about.

I understand why some men cheat.

Men are required to invest so much in relationships with little to no guaranteed tangible reciprocation. A system that's set up so that men become overly invested from the beginning to where they have to weight that investment with leaving empty handed.

From the beginning you've planned every interaction, paid for everything, sacrificed ego and pride just to keep the peace and accepted emotional and physical abuse normalized by society, being required to protect and provide in while your woman gets to decide the extent to her contribution to the relationship.

Men think we can handle the situation at first but after years of lack of appreciation what are you going to do? Walk away from an unhappy situation with a drained savings account and bruised ego? Or do you seek outside satisfaction?

There is a reason men with money have mistresses and use escorts. Because at the end of the day they're serving everyone but themselves and have nothing to show for it.

Women staying with cheaters gets so much attention...What gets little to no attention is the reality of how many men stay with cheaters, and the abject LIE that “men would never put up with what we do” lol

The difference is men aren’t going to risk broadcasting to the world that their wife fucked the pool boy, only to end up back with her the next week. Men have a sense of pride/shame when it comes to looking like a total fucking fool for love, that women have not yet evolved to possess.

You’re not hearing about it and THATS the only difference...But men are definitely staying with cheaters at near the same rates women do.

Cheating is one of those things where it's either agreed upon (then it stops being cheating) or it's because one person is completely manipulated by the other.
