I don’t think it’s conservatives but rather men in general, and even then its not exclusive to just men.

Men obviously know how other men are. That’s why they flip it when it comes to women they personally know and care about. Men online will say “not all men” “youre being paranoid” etc because theyre addressing women as a group. But men who are fathers will tell their daughters “be careful of all men” “trust your gut” “be cautious around men at all times”.

Women do this too. Women will preach to other women about being independent, don’t be a submissive doormat, your entire purpose as a woman isn’t just to be caretaker blah blah. Yet women who are mothers want this exact type of woman for their sons. They want a woman who IS submissive, supportive, nurturing, and caretaking of her son.

Men only want the best for women they personally know and care about. Women only want the best for men they personally know and care about. That’s why there’s a disconnect between what men say about women in general vs what they say to their daughters.

It’s because on a policy level, you can’t treat all men like they’re guilty but on a personal level, they want to protect the women who they are close to. When you generalize about men and the risk of men, you in practice are making men who are completely fine pay for the actions of jerks.

It’s much easier for guys to see another guy’s intentions because we know how guys brains work, if you bring a good guy to your brother he will think this is awesome, I don’t need to worry about her.

"Not all men are bad" means men as a group are not collectively guilty. The act of filtering or protecting your daughter/sister is not contradictory to that.

This argument was you taking a slogan and not understanding what it meant. It is foolish to live without the precaution of the possibilities of bad things happening, especially for things you care about.

Firstly, not all men are bad. That's a fact and it's hinestly a bit weird how you brought that up as if the fact that "not all men are bad" is just empty conservative rhetoric. Men are human beings and yes, not all of them are "bad".

Secondly, while conservatives are pretty weird about sex and being overly protective of women's sexuality, there is absolutely no contradiction with what you pointed out. Mitigating risks by certain behaviour doesn't have to mean you think most people are bad. I don't think most people are thieves or would rob my house, I still close and lock the door when I leave.

There's no contradiction here.

Because "not all men are bad" only works as an argument when more liberal women and men don't single out individual bad men from the group. This denigrates ALL men, which is simply offensive to normal men, but worst of all, it wastes the effort to find truly terrible men who should be avoided.

For example, as a man who has never raised a hand to a woman in a physical confrontation (though the opposite has happened many times), I can still understand that some women have trauma associated with men and fear that results, and therefore they are prejudiced against ALL men. But I still won't be endlessly happy for these women or agree with them when they insult me.

And when men strive to protect their female friends and family, they seek to shield them from certain truly dangerous men, rather than focusing on ALL men. This approach is much more reasonable and effective, as far as I'm concerned, not most men would ever commit any crime, much less a crime against women.

Therefore, I repeat, focusing on ALL men in general, rather than specific ones, simply increases the danger.

I have 5 brothers and had 2 father figures in my life

Some of them ended up liberal, some of them ended up conservative, but they all drilled into my head not to trust men, especially in places where I would be “vulnerable” (alone at night, parties, dates)

I did my best not to take this advice at face value since I assumed they were just being over protective and that there are plenty of good men out there like my brothers and father; but a lot of my hesitation around certain men in specific situations 100% comes from my personal experiences with men and what the men in my life told me growing up, not from other women.

I haven't had an accident in years but I still wear a seatbelt every time I drive. Just because you don't believe something is likely to happen doesn't mean you don't take necessary steps to minimize and avoid encountering those situations in the event they do occur.

Dad's being protective of their daughters is not proof of their daughters being surrounded by predators. Even if it was just one guy out of 200, why would they want to create an opportunity for even that one guy to take advantage. That's just called being a caring parent.

You’re conflating two different things though.

Conservative men object to men being treated as bad as in criminal, and that being used to discriminate against men.

In the same way that it’s wrong to treat all black men as criminals at an individual level. The fact that the group in the aggregate commits crime at elevated levels does not mean you get to create policy that impacts the individual.

Get it?

A conservative man that is protective of women in his life is not saying that men that want sex are bad as in criminal, but instead that purity is a virtue and (women) giving it away isn’t a good thing.

Those are two fairly different concepts.

people in this sub do not understand the conservative lifestyle with its gender role structure...

sure some are hypocritical or extremists but at large who of them would not send their daughter to an elite school or not want them to earn good money aslong as she is single and no mother? even muslim countries slowly learn how they are held back if women get no education or can not earn money... us tradcons say my wife should not have to work to be able to care for our children...

if we talk about why conservatives have a problem with public schools, college debt, daycare, high taxes etc it is way more nuanced than "we want to oppress women" but who cares about public vs private funding with its pros and cons or generally upbringing of children...

i think most on the conservative end complain about a million abortions each year in the us and the numbers of single parents...

the main beef between tradcons and feminists is about freedom of choice vs paternalism... smashing patriarchy in practice is terminating conservatism AND abortion, daycare, parental leave etc are the basis for equal opportunity...
