First, I am a woman. After looking through too many posts, I would start to feel attacked: that the men here thought all women were immoral pieces of shit who took advantage of men and unfair laws at every opportunity. It felt unfair because I would never do that.

Then I thought about another subreddit I frequent, /r/TwoXChromosomes. So many posts there are about girls getting sexually assaulted or just treated unfairly for being a women. But I sympathized with that subreddit because I had been through it. Like many women (especially those living in cities), I had been sexually objectified by complete strangers since I went through puberty.

I felt the women /r/MensRights were complaining about was so clearly the minority of women. But what about /r/TwoXChromosomes? How many men sexually harass women at random? Hardly any of them. I've seen men apologize on behalf of their gender after stories of rape and harassment. I used to think that was a strong thing for them to do. But now I realize that's completely unfair. No one should have to apologize on behalf of their gender. No one should have to be associated with or feel responsible things they've never done. These people of both genders who harass, assault, and take advantage of laws are in the minority: these are not representations of any gender.
