So I saw this post in FDS, about a guy who was stunned to find out that her gf had a secret "get-out" bank account and felt betrayed because of it. Of course the guy was reviled in FDS because your know, it's FDS.

However, while I do not agree with all the conclusions they pulled out of thin air, I don't see much of a problem either. Nowadays not considering that things might go south in a relationship is just plain stupid, so having an emergency plan is a smart move.

My point is, how transparent you should be with your partner (specially before marriage) about your money? Why is the 50:50 model so hated? I mean, to me is the most fair system right? You can help each other, but at the end of the day, they should be both contributing with the expenses, otherwise one becomes a burden. So, what's your take on the issue?
