In my experience, not at all. But there might be a selection bias because having dramatically different taste in guys is good for maintaining friendships. Having a social circle filled with women with the exact same type is how chaos starts.

I personally find that there is a high agreement on who is NOT attractive, when the guy is truly not conventionally attractive, like, we can all see he is ugly and none of us into him.

But when a guy is more average or cute or even conventionally attractive, then there is a high level of disagreement. Like, what my friends like are into, in my opinion are conventionally average guys that Im not attracted to at all; and vice versa.

Based on my friends over time, I’d say varied.

Lookswise there’s been preferences for thin, fat, muscular, blond, brown-haired. All heights, pretty much.

Personality and interests again a mix, serious, fun, indie, normie, gamer guy.

Probably overall there’s a general preference for not overweight guys who are taller than the girl, but that seems to be as far as it goes in my experience.

I don't think I've ever encountered two women with exactly the same taste, and they're usually different enough to be distinguishable, although often those differences are downplayed when talking to others about tastes.

of my four closest girlfriends, i find their boyfriends and husbands either not attractive or i can see the appeal but they aren’t my type.

there’s a lot of generic things that most women find universally attractive but types can vary pretty widely

My cousin just married a ridiculously ugly late 20s dude and had a kid with him, another cousin got married to a homeless looking 50 year old dude, the two other cousins.. one is bald, but looks rich, has a pretty wife, the other one is an average ginger dude.. who married an average woman. My friend used to hook up with bad looking dudes (unnatractive faces) but who had really fit and attractive bodies. My childhood best friends have boyfriends and fiance's that are completely average, and to me personally unnatractive.

My friends and I all have totally different taste in men. Whenever I’m making new friends with someone we discuss what type of dudes we like, both looks and personality, and it’s almost always quite different.

I remember my best friend happily saying “you and I will never go for the same man,” so we instantly pledged to be wingwomen for each other. I wouldn’t touch any of her boyfriends with a ten-foot pole. She would find the guys I like too skinny and shy and non-passionate. Another friend again has totally different tastes, and so on, and so forth.

My preferences have remained pretty stable over time in terms of looks, though when I fall hard for a guy who has a different physical quality than I used to be attracted to I find it rubs off on future men as well. For instance, I was madly in lust with a bald guy not long ago, though we never ended up being involved. I’d never once found bald men attractive before, but now I do. So while physical preference is mostly stable, it’s definitely at least a little influenced by men I encounter.

In terms of personality preference, I’ve come to prefer more sort of very non-emotional, laid-back men than I used to. I used to like guys who were more emotional and passionate and artsy, and now I prefer guys who are sort of dry and very emotionally level.

I think women's preferences are more varied and flexible than men's tbf but women's sexuality is harder to understand, even for women ourselves because we've been socialized to suppress it for so long and only worry about what men want. We're still figuring it out ourselves.

They vary. Also the context on which she meets him are relevant. Women have a running joke together which you can find memes about on tiktok etc which goes “haha he’s cuter in person” when she hesitantly shows her friends pictures of a guy she started dated, because even though her friends might consider him unattractive for not being conventionally attractive or having some flaw in his appearance, SHE might still be heavily attracted to him because of other factors that go outside of his appearance

Women also vary in how masculine they like their men. I for example, am only really attracted to very masculine looking men, muscular, hairy, bearded, etc. To a lot of women that’s really just not their flavor and they prefer a more clean cut man, it depends on the woman.

Also, women have types, if a man is her “type” she can easily be attracted to someone other women might consider below average physically.

It depends. I hang around different people. But my friends who are in the same clique typically have the same taste in men.

I work in tech and all of my tech friends seems to have the same clone husband. Either extremely fat bald guy with glasses and a starwars obsession, or tall lanky husband obsessed with running and lord of the rings.

I go to bars often and my bar fly friends typically like the average frumpy construction dude between 56-6ft, kinda muscular and simultaneously out of shape slightly disheveled, or the drop dead gorgeous model type bat shit crazy retired military dude. Never fails, they literally never date anyone else.

My hippie friends date recovering addicts that have that too skinny yet super lean body type always super tall but horribly hunched over to normal height, or they date the slackers dudes who range from average to super hot. Typically bartenders, retail workers, etc.

Engineer friends all seem to be dating and married to men who are into rock climbing for some reason. They're all very lean and average height cant think of any of them that are over 6ft.

I have more friends groups and they all generally have a "type".

My friends and I often compare celebrity crushes together, and our crushes could not be more different. Different races, facial structure, facial shair/no facial hair, feminine (think Timothee chálamet or young Leonardo dicaprio even tho you might consider them chads idk), or masculine (like Jon bernthal or idris Elba). They all had different ages and aesthetics. But one time I told my friend that I thought young 80’s willem Dafoe is kinda hot and she was speechless. Then I told her I thought Christopher moltisanti from the sopranos was cute (he literally has a unibrow) and she didn’t talk to me for like an hour lmao. But she had also tried to get me into people that I was like “really? This is your man?” Seriously I think woman’s sexualities are often more flexible than men’s. Even something as simple as nice hands might be enough to make you think a person is attractive. I personally think most people can be hot in their own way even if they might seem “ugly” to some other girl.

There are billions of women on earth, there’s no way we all have the same preferences it’s just not plausible. People have different preferences in general when it comes to looks, goals, hobbies and personality etc. women aren’t a monolith. There are many things we can find aesthetically pleasing that will differ from what another woman finds pleasing.

Like for instance my best friend finds men with a shaved head and full beard hot, and I don’t. I don’t like a full beard and I only like men with hair. I like nerds, she doesn’t. I could go on and on.

Another example; I don’t like “punk” guys or guys that have facial piercings and lots of tattoos etc because it’s not my thing, but other women who are into that will find those guys hot.

Im not sure why you would even think every woman likes the exact same thing, I’m guessing you’re really young

Huge variation in our opinions of most men’s attractiveness. My best friend (who is an extremely attractive woman, always got INSANE amounts of male attention when we were younger) was completely obsessed with her husband’s appearance, always makes comments about his body and facial structure and how “fuckable” he is. I look at him and I’m like…meh?

My sisters and I always had hugely different taste in men. Both of them married Italian dudes and my husband is blondish and German.

Most of the women in my life have usually been relationship seekers and were never into casual sex, so I honestly believe personality and compatibility weighed more heavily into attraction than looks. Which might account for some of the variation.

We have consensus on who is pretty ugly, but no consensus once we reach like 6/10 guys.

Like a lot of us might universally agree with guys 1 - 3/10

4-6 we start having different ratinga

And 7 upwards all end up being a matter of taste.

And i say this as someone who does the female flversion of "locker room" talk and spent most of my young teenage (and early 20s tbh) hanging out at the beach and ogling guys.

One describes her taste as “medium ugly”, another is only into mixed race boys that look like they could be her sibling, one is into thug looking guys gold teeth tattoos etc, I like boys with long hair. I would say I can see why they find him attractive but it’s never guys I would be into. We never fight over men lol

I would say the only constants are they’re generally quite tall, built and active guys, though I prefer leaner

A key difference is, men aren’t marketed though advertising the same way Women are. Advertisers need a narrow consistent definition of attractiveness for women to market products effectively but no such need exists for men. This is also why if you ask a (straight) man if another man is attractive it can be hard for him to tell, but if you ask a woman about another woman she can tell you right away.

I’ve always been interested in people that were a bit quiet and had somewhat a good personality, also a bit mysterious. Never really thought about how much they earned, how tall they were or such. My friends would have probably thought I was crazy and my taste sucks 😂

Now to be honest can’t say I am attracted to anyone per se. But I’ve also exited the dating scene early so. I think preferences or attraction in general varies depending on the individual.

I love the way you asked this question, because “baffled” is a great way to describe how I feel about a lot of my friend’s partners, lol. They would never even be on my radar because they’re so not my type.

There’s definitely a lot of variety in tastes among my friends. Even in celebrities it’s hard to find ones we all would rate the same. I don’t understand the Hemsworth-esque obsession. Too generic, like looking at a nicely painted wall

Thinking back, my own preferences do vary a bit, but one thing that’s clear is that I avoid guys who are “clean cut”. Never been into them.

My friends husbands run the fucking gamut. 5'6" to 6'5", bald to follicle density so high they're always scratching their head, striking eyes to the hills have eyes, throw in some chubby, dad bod, and skinny; it's varied to say the least.

It's never the physical thing that baffles me though, beauty is subjective. It's when they date losers. Guys who are just perpetual fuckups.

My tastes definitely changed as I aged. I couldn't imagine dating a guy in his 20s now, as I age so does my taste in men. My partner is basically my physical ideal.

I used to think I liked really skinny guys when I was really young, then I felt one and: nope. I want to cuddle with the plush extra deluxe luxury man thank you. I thirst only for the thiccness now.

Hetero women obviously have different preferences, some prefer skinny guys, some prefer muscular, some like blonde and blue eyed men, some prefer "tall dark and handsome", etc. But there are traits that are almost universally considered attractive, like tall stature and strong jawline and cheekbones. But arguably a man's biggest selling point is if lots of other women fancy him. A woman in a state of nature can only birth one child every three years or so, and every pregnancy and birth is Russian roulette for her before modern medicine, hence why women are much, much pickier than men. If lots of women like a particular man, it's like a job applicant who comes highly recommended by former employers and with glowing recommendations from professors.

Those 30% who do have pretty standard taste are almost always the ones getting into bullshit situations over men, too. Constant drama.

From my experience women tastes tend to vary greatly. What one finds attractive can be utterly repulsive or just neutral for the other. But things like "you're kidding me, he's a troll" usually stop after high school. Even if our tastes differ, we usually are respectful towards each other and each other's partners. I wouldn't express any disapproval of my friends' partners as long as they were decent and I didn't worry about their safety.

hell no they aren’t uniform. out of all my friends boyfriends they’ve ever had ive only found like two attractive. and that’s just talking about looks. each of them typically dates way different types of guys. a lot of these guys are kinda rough looking imo and i prefer more of a pretty guy look. but also the funny thing is, none of them really care about money. we don’t care about “six figure chad” and my five foot eleven friend has only ever dated guys shorter than her. multiple have been around five six or seven. she just doesn’t care much about height. really though, how often do you see pretty girls with way uglier guys? i see it every day. i honestly think i care more about looks than most women, but even i’ve had crushes on the occasional kinda funny looking guy because he had a great sense of humor.

I have completely different tastes in men from my best friend. She likes guys that are ripped but it's always been a turn-off to me. We've never liked the same guy, it's not that I find the guys she dates unattractive it's just that I wouldn't develop a crush on them as she does and the same goes for her and my bf's she always says "he's definitely your type" in response to seeing a photo of the guy I'm dating.

They did studies on this. A woman picks out some pictures of guys she really finds attractive but put her in a room where other women are asked same question about the same guy, after they all say he’s unattractive she changes her mind that he is unattractive afterall. Many women’s lack of critical thinking and fickleness in the face of societal “norms” or peer pressure is frankly pathetic.

They differ, A LOT. Some of my friends are interested in men I wouldn’t give a second look. My friends have known for 15 years what kind of men I find (physically) attractive, because it hasn’t changed.

I don’t have many bad experiences, and the one’s that were bad at the time, just feel like lessons now. My first boyfriend from when I was 15 was a great guy, but our communication styles and goals in life didn’t work well in a relationship. He still looks handsome imo, though. Same goes with my second boyfriend from when I was 16. They were practice grounds because I didn’t know what I wanted from a relationship. My husband is just perfect (both body and soul), I would probably end up with someone like him if we weren’t together.

Okay so women are humans, humans have different interests, preferences, they live in different cultures, they look for different things so that means they will like different people as partners. Is that so hard to understand, is it so difficult to see women as humans for once?
