I don't think it's casual sex that's damaging in and of itself.

I do think there's a correlation between high promiscuity and already existing issues.

So promiscuity is a symptom, not a cause.

Yes there are very high libido women and that's fine. But it's also true that casual sex is impulsive behaviour. And high impulsive behaviour in general is usually an indicator of other mental or past issues.

Really? Because religion hasn't kept the Christian church from being covered up with porn users. Religion didn't keep the Southern Baptist Conference from covering up over 400 incidents of sexual abuse and/or rape for years. Religion didn't keep widespread sexual abuse out of the Mormon church.

I grew up Christian fundamentalist. Those women are taught from birth that God will reward their suffering, that divorce is a sin and that men are meant to be the ultimate source of authority. That's why they stay.

Additionally, why would you want that for someone you claim to love to begin with? Why would you want to inflict that kind of misery on your spouse knowing that the only reason why they stay with you is out of fear?

I don't think this is necessarily a religious thing, but I agree that the causal direction probably is mostly in the opposite direction than some people on here say, i.e. people who have lots of sex partners because they are promiscuous aren't going to be good at staying committed and people who have lots of sex partners because they are bad at maintaining relationships are also going to get divorced more

Being the type of girl who is "marriage material" or "wifey" isn't really a compliment. It pretty much means you are an obedient person who always puts others before yourself and stays presentable in public and private, ie a doormat.

Men loooove to gaslight women because it works, women are emotional, and it cuts deep if you are sweet. So by telling women they are of less value to men for having life experiences, it cuts her own self worth. Women with less self worth are way more likely to accept abuse, or not do/have desired experiences for fear of men not wanting her anymore. In reality its normally the women who don't care what men think of them that get the man in the end. Because they love putting a free bird in a cage.

I think that most religious women going through with divorce have taken every route they can before that choice.

The people who only have sex in marriage are an odd bunch (typically deeply religious) so it’s a bad criteria. Whether someone has had sex outside relationships and how many relationships they’ve been through would be a better criteria.

Women are more selective than men are about who they sleep with.

I believe women are most selective about who they sleep with when they have little to no sexual experience. I'm pretty sure most women expect their first sexual experience to turn into a relationship, if that doesn't happen, it's tragic. People feel bad for her because she got used. Women take the most precaution when considering their first partner. They gradually become more comfortable with each additional partner until it's no big deal having a new partner even it ends up being a one time hookup.

Doesn't that in itself show that promiscuity changes the way a woman thinks? No one can force you to think a certain way or use their penis to magically change you. But you can desensitize yourself to an experience through your own actions.

Men don't go through that change. They're dogs from the get go. They don't care who they sleep with they just want to smash. Some are naturally more promiscuous than others, but none of them need experiences to become more comfortable sleeping with new partners.

It's natural for woman to wary of strange men as potential sexual partners. If they become comfortable accepting new partners, it's just a sign of damage.

I think that, for a woman at least, and from a woman's perspective, that casual sex can be damaging. I'm only so glad that my first real taste of sex, or of orgasm and sexual pleasure happened when I was with my husband, because, for me, it was powerful enough to change my entire life. It's not good for men to be promiscuous either, but I don't think it's as serious or the same as when women do it. Female sexuality is different, and yes, more valuable and important. It's an entirely different thing for a woman to take a man into her innermost being and penetrate into her, invading everything about her, than what it is for a man to conquer a woman by being the one who overwhelms and invades. I know most women today don't understand this, and that is heartbreaking. They have never been taught this and cannot achieve orgasms and the like just from the sexual act, without some kind of extra aid or "help" to get there. It's not something that can be explained, only lived and felt.

And, by the way, I'm not religious. I'm a deist and political independent that rejects the religious doctrines that I believe have been perverted by mankind.

Pre-marital sex engagement has been reported by numerous well-respect institutions to be an act more likely to be engaged by risk-taking, neurotic, and confrontational men and women. Such people are at higher odds of divorce. Again, it's a very simple concept.
