I don't care about status past the point of competence and avoiding "low status" markers (baby mamas, "plebian" tastes, etc.) I would prefer a man with a middling job to one who works 60+ hours a week and is constantly stressed.

A non-superstar "good job" isn't really a gateway into sex. I wouldn't fuck a man because he's a doctor, and I don't think many other women would either. If I fuck a man it's because he's in the right place at the right time, is sufficiently attractive, and I liked the way he made me feel about having sex with him

Having high status is a double edged sword, on one hand you are successful and can find more dates but many times you just attract women who want to use you as an ATM and find no other value in dating you, I've seen it way way too many times. The best scenario is you meet a woman in an average job and then work your way up to the better job with the same woman by your side.

My career made me instantly appealing but I honestly never thought of that aspect because my Autistic ass went into the career because I’ve loved it since I was a kid. Its kind of made me a bit bitter because years of trying beforehand got me nowhere and the moment I added it to my occupation on dating apps I got hit with a bucket load of matches.

Photographer: When you're really good a taking pictures of stuff, girls naturally want you to take pictures of them, you can turn that into working with models. And then you work with enough models and you arent ugly, that can get you laid.

Bartender: They re normally charismatic good looking and in a position of authority. Plus they serve alcohol and are introduced to a ton of new people every night, most of whom are trying to hook up. Really sky rockets your chance of hooking up

Artist: These guys are often living the dream that many girls secretly yearn for. Especially if you have any clout or skill whatsoever it can make you see incredibly hot and deep and emotional or whatever

Being good at what you do is sexy. General competence is attractive, and that doesn't need to be a high-status job. If you are a lazy lawyer (a stereotypical high-status job) or an incompetent doctor (another stereotypical high-status job) that doesn't tell me anything good about you.

'Normal' jobs that would increase my respect for a man: paramedics, physiotherapists, air traffic controllers (not quite 'normal', ok, but very cool), uni lecturers... Basically jobs that require brain and contribute something valuable to society. Superstars and super athletes don't check this box.

Is status important to me? No, but I need to feel like I can respect my man, and that includes what he is doing for a living. You could say that the status I personally assign to him is very important to me, but I don't care about the status assigned to his job by society.

For example, I know doctors whom I respect, and I know doctors whom I don't respect at all. It really depends on the person, their competence and what exactly they do. You can do amazing things in tech, and you can make people's life miserable with tech. A job title alone never tells the entire truth.

Low status jobs in my book: marketing and advertisement, salesmen, truck drivers and construction workers (I know, we need them, I apologise), a lot of middle management jobs (they sit in meetings barely contributing anything of value), bank clerks (once it was a decent job, but now it's about selling products which only benefit the bank; a lot of psychological manipulation is involved), content creators on social media/influencers (with a few exceptions). So mostly jobs where a kind of manipulation of others is involved.

Doctors, Lawyers, some Tech jobs, Politicians, really any job known for being high paying.

Im a total weirdo apparently.

I would never want to date these men.

My top Love Language is Quality Time. Workaholics and I dont gel. They often are more stressed too and they bring it home and detach from you. They flake more. Very few high paying jobs dont come with alot of stress and extra hours.

Also...this is just my opinion but starting around age 25, I realized men who make WAY more money than me use that power imbalance to their favor. They often believe they dont have to do basic relationship duties because of their money, they wont help with housework or planning, they commit more disrespectful behavior and expect to get away with it, they tend to view women as golddiggers and have alot of baggage regarding that, if you have kids you will DO EVERYTHING even if they expect you to work. When I dated, I didnt actually want a man who made significantly more money than me for this reason. A little bit more was fine. I make the median salary for my area so when I read on here women only want men who make alot more money I laugh because that would be a very rich guy and Ive rejected some of those for these reasons.

Politician is a rare one where maybe you dont always make bank, but Im a private person and do not want to be involved with that in any way. I also would not want to be involved with a famous person or a very successful musician most likely.

Also, Im a very simple person and dont need tons of money. Men ignore girls like me though and focus on the ones who spend 100's of dollars a month in makeup, high end clothes, etc.

Jobs where they have a skill and can actually make real things. Tech jobs may pay a lot, but at the end of the day you work on computers and that skill isn’t going to be useful when times get tough. Being able to weld, build a home, being a machinist, or provide medical care are much more important. A man who can make real things is very attractive.

I value status to some degree. I tend to gravitate either toward men in the human services, who can relate to what I do, or men who are interesting and well-rounded doing whatever it is they do and can clearly take care of themselves on their salary. The "lawyers and doctors" thing is only a joke in my house, but professors legit excite me.

How does it relate to superstar jobs? I guess normal women know we aren't going to attract superstars -- we make jokes about Justin Trudeau being single soon, but they're jokes. Whereas with men in jobs that we consider high-status and attainable by normal people, perhaps the dream is better able to be realized by us.

I have less in common with blue-collar workers than white-collar. It honestly tends to be an upbringing/cultural markers thing. Contractors and tradesmen tend to come from middle America, which is foreign territory to me interests-wise. It's not that their jobs are low status, it's that their idea of life off the job is low status. I was never going to be Mrs. Archie Bunker.

Men who ride their status are using game, I suppose. I just don't fall for it. They're low value to me because I'm not looking for someone whose aim is to have sex with lots of women. I'm looking for someone who wants to be monogamous with me. Like, forever.

Doctor is probably the best. The absolute most, is to be a physiotherapist. Women drool at physiotherapists feet. I think you can guess why. As a woman, my only regret is that my bf isn’t a doctor and a physiotherapist. So much social status and so much health benefits.

Anything that is generally seen as involving a large amount of skill or being in charge of lots of people. Low status is the opposite, unskilled work at the bottom of the food chain. (Status, in the sense you're talking about, is really just class.) I don't care what job a man has in this sense unless it's inflating his ego. I'm not sure how you can use your status to have sex ("Please fuck me, I'm a doctor"?) but I would see it as weird to try.

Doctor. Physiotherapist is the absolute best. You could be ugly asf, women will drool at your feet (to get those massages daily lol).

Rockstars and anything in entertainment is an absolute no. Too much risk of erratic behavior, wild lifestyle (cheating, drugs, partying, money overspending…) doesn’t give status.

Status is very important. Even if women don’t think it is, because most women want children, and the man’s job will end up supporting her and her children for a while. The most well paying and secure the position is, the better it is.

To have sex, is a little sus, because status is more for marriage. When the finances get together. Before marriage a man’s money is not of much use. For hookups or small term relationships I would rather a man has a wealthy family, to take us places in holidays, or to get us in the secondary homes for holidays, or to get me contacts to have a better job in the future.

You are more likely to get girls in your youth by saying « I have a house next to the beach, my grandparents’s, you can come for a week with me, we will go swimming, on a boat, and go to the townside in a small scooter ». Rather than « hey I am studying this and that » ok cool. So you’re a broke student and can’t take me anywhere? Boring asf. So rockstar can get you some hookups, but less good women willing to marry you though. I think that doctor is a wayy better choice. As long as you seem as exiting as the rockstar (offer to take her places and to meet people)

I think its more about having a financial capacity to have the kind of lifestyle that is comfortable to luxury.

Jobs that women might be attracted to (artsy jobs like being an artist, musician, film-maker, writer) are good for younger women but are not great for financial longevity which will attract women beyond adolescence.

Most normal people jobs don’t provide a “sexy” type of status (except maybe a firefighter or certain military jobs or something lol), but there’s definitely jobs that are appealing in terms of prestige— the big ones would be lawyer, doctor, high level management/business guys, etc.
