Let's say you're in charge of designing an online dating app for the government to maximize the amount of people who get in a fulfilling relationship, what do you do? This app would obviously be non profit and would be completely free.

Here is what I would do:

  • men don't swipe right anymore, they upload their profiles and get notifications when women like them. Then they can start a conversation if they are interested
  • men can only get a maximum amount of likes per day, once that amount of likes has been reached, they are invisible until next day

This would reduce the frustration men experiment when using online dating and would give more exposure to men who aren't top 20%. The amount of effort between genders would also be more balanced with women swiping and men engaging the conversation.

But I'm sure there are other ways to make the experience better so I'm curious to hear about your suggestions.
