I see this promoted on “Are We Dating the Same Guy” Facebook groups. I want to know what PPD thinks.

The California Online Dating Safety Act is linked here

According to Facebook and the summary, the apps would require users to upload their ID on dating apps to prove their age, marital status, and name. The law also provides resources to dating app members who are a victim of a crime to report the crime to the proper authorities. The law doesn’t require criminal background checks due to how complicated background checks are, but it requires users to be notified if someone they’re messaging was banned from the app and why.

It also sounds like married people who pretend to not be married on dating apps can get banned and people will be notified, but I am not sure.

What do you guys think?

Also, I am not a lawyer, so I don’t really know how to comb through a bill to determine the exact details.
