I have participated in a number of online subs and forms over the years discussing gender issues. What I think is more accurate to say is many subs or forums are biased, some more than others and often in different ways.

Some Reddit subs for example expressly forbid factual responses not consistent with a certain agenda, which creates quite an echo chamber of misinformation.

As for this sub, I find many are young and haven’t really read up on the issues. Many present “takes” as you put it that in reality have been well studied and addressed.

The stereotype that redditors are antisocial and don’t leave their house feels more true every day. I see so many posts and comments of people saying don’t talk to strangers, don’t go out and do fun activities, cut people out of your life for minor inconveniences. A lot of “advice” I see on Reddit is the exact opposite of what I see in my real life. It’s pretty ridiculous here.

Reddit is kind of funny like that and it's part of the reason why I often hold the "touch grass" crowd to the fire because they'll often reveal themselves as basing their opinions off of online activity as well.

Both sides often make exaggerative claims but the Blue Pill sometimes is worse than the Red Pill in that regard.

But I think it's sort of an experience thing too. Even if you do have a real life, you can still be in a bubble. I've seen some women here dismiss my observations solely because I live in Texas. Imagine pretending that the 2nd most populated state and 2nd biggest economy in the U.S. is some sort of "anomaly" not worthy of mentioning lol.

Also, White women vote for the GOP and Pro-Life movements at the highest rate after White men. They even beat Black, Asian, and even Hispanic men with their voting records on average.

Yet Redditors will talk about how there's a major "gender divide" in politics despite the actual ballot results not showcasing this. Hell, Black men in Ohio last year voted for abortion rights at a higher rate than any other demographic including Black women. Yet Redditors will claim that it's men who are "conspiring" together to oppress women with RIght Wing politics.

I could go on and on but many Redditors, including those who tell others to "touch grass" often do live in a bubble.

A lot of people here are just young. Wanting to have kids or a 5 year age gap seems pretty weird when you're still in highschool.

The main difference I see from real life is how jaded people are. Most people irl aren't nearly as mistrusting of the opposite gender.

The very design of reddit attracts the most outspoken, polarized, and mentally ill or socially stunted with respect to the subject matter of the particular sub. I didn't know this and came into reddit initially thinking it would be a great place to get intelligent insight and advice instead of low IQ or stubborn circle jerks.

I think a ton of these things require being jaded by things that tend to happen to someone who might not have had best of luck from the start. You got two types, dudes who've been bullied and rejected since they were kids, and ladies who've had one or two bad encounters with men, or read about it through TwoX. Both of them are angry, and most people aren't rational when they're angry.

It's perfectly normal to want a space to discuss stuff that bothers you, and relationships are no different. But a lot of times people do overreact and catastrophize.

Every time I see somebody on this sub make a post like this it's always against strawmen that don't exist. Where are all of these people that think this stuff? Who in this subreddit has ever said any of this?

What actually happens is people say stuff like:

"I don't want to have kids and many of my friends don't want to have kids"
"Large age gaps are weird and abnormal"
"JK Rowling's crazy political takes have lost her a lot of support with her fans and I'm no longer a fan of hers"

All of the above quotes don't indicate that these hypothetical people believe any of the strawman positions posted here.

I don't trust redditor takes especially on this sub. Think for a second what kind of people is a sub like this likely to attract. Probably some autistic person who makes gender relations their special interest.

Well you're at least right on this. I'd wager almost everybody in the sub is either autistic and/or ADHD and/or very abnormally bad with women and/or obsessed with culture war stuff as an outlet for their frustrations with their own lives.

A lot of people love to dismiss dating app issues as “only on dating apps”. Okay but all the underlying causes don’t just magically disappear in real life, they just come out more on dating apps because of all the options and the relative anonymity. Reddit offers the perfect storm for biased echo Chambers. Not only the nature of the topic/interest/demography based subs but also the heavy handed moderation which likely scares away cadusl observers more plugged into the real world.

And then you have the fact that this sub is pretry obscure and full of male incels. There's a tendency to believe that the women here are all somehow well adjusted opposites of those male incels but, when you actually start to look at it, you realise a lot of them are equally socially unsuccessful BUT a little more likely to have a partner (I think that's due to women actually being more realistic about their looks and prospects, especially when they're older).

100%. Also, those of us with views contrary to Reddit mods get instantly banned for espousing skepticism of certain things. I know a lot of mens subs have been banned and men get banned unfairly for saying things against the narrative. But believe me, it happens to GCs like me. For example, try saying something logical about the Olympic boxing controversy is most subs (including 2X!) and you are done for. Even just posting this would will prob get me banned from some places if they look at my post history. In real life, a majority of ppl have moderate, reasonable positions on most issues.

To be fair - 60% of women under 29 are childless - i dont know about childfree per se but most don’t have kids by 30. And the idea that you don’t have to have children is relatively new. You still have women who grew up believing they had to have children who all of a sudden realize they have a choice. ^In ^some ^states ^anyways. And now, when you’re 18-25, it’s normal to claim to not want children at all. Until you’re truly faced with the reality of your fertility being taken from you, it’s morally neutral to be a fence sitter. Totally normal behavior. I’m childfree but don’t recommend it for everyone. I think people should think it through before embarking on the lifelong sacrifice that is raising children. I think your own mental health should be in check. You should be in a place to financially support children. You should maybe take a parenting class or two. But at the end of the day, not everyone will feel fulfilled not having children. And that’s okay. No one is trying to scare them out of having children. I just want to give the other side of the coin after hearing our entire lives that women’s entire worth is tied to having and raising children. That being a mom is some sacred calling that makes you special. It doesn’t. You don’t have to do it. But if you do, make sure you do it with all of the information.

Age gaps can be problematic. Of course 2 years is hyperbolic. Even 5 years is totally normal. But yes, older men groom young women quite frequently. If you’ve spoken with 5 women, you’ve met one who was groomed by an older man into a relationship where she thought she was in love and put up with either abuse, manipulation or things she was very uncomfortable with but couldn’t say no to. It isn’t rare in age gap relationships. The inherit power dynamic makes them rife with abuse. Not all age gap relationships will be abusive. But it cause for at minimum concern and a conversation. If you don’t have ill intent, why are you worried about what strangers online think? Once a woman is over 27 - both of your brains are fully formed, do as you please. 27 with a 96 year old man for all I care. Same goes for young men with older women btw. There is also a power imbalance there. And I’ve met men who were taken advantage of by an older woman and used or degraded in similar ways. It isn’t just girls who need to be wary. We need to teach our boys too.

What? Colleen Hoover is a best seller for a reason. It’s trash but it’s trash that resonates with some people. Like 50 shades - women connect with the fantasy of a “ravashment.” Getting enjoyable sex without the degradation of asking for pleasurable sex.
