Many men, I would even go as far to say most, would not hang out with women outside of the path leading to sex and/or affection. Below is why.

The women I grew up around sat around gossiping and jesting about how small, stupid, unconfident, and weak most men were, whilst saving their criticisms of big, tall and athletic men. I think many women in their youth feel physically inadequate and hate themselves for being small and physically weaker, so they project these insecurities and give big men preferential treatment, the benefit of the doubt, etc. This extends to race, status, etc. Women are especially keen to hierarchies, and follow them very strictly.

The smaller and/or socially lower men know this and try to compensate with humor, their jobs, physical training, money, material possessions, etc., but the fact is, this is for sex, not to hang out with more women as friends. The vast majority of men experience harsh rejections because men are going in expecting sex, not a friendship.

Many women would gladly be friends with men, but on the flip side, many men see sex as respect and dominance. Women in friendships also talk about other men they’re attracted to, and men HATE that. This is why the friend-zone is important, because being placed within it means that you are an unsuccessful mating player. You lost “the game.” You’re a loser.

A woman would be friends with guys all day long, but most men are not interested in the lives of women, at all. I think men see women as weak, catty, and recipients of conditional kindness from authority and status quo because of the physical discrepancies, while men are vilified because they’re in fact extremely dangerous, even if they’re not high on the societal totem pole.

An angry man, regardless of size, color and creed can be extraordinarily dangerous when he feels wronged. Friendships with women is “wrong” to many men.
