Why do women ghost a man during regular, amicable conversation after both parties have shown interest?

She has difficulty cutting things off and so just ghosted
She was bored and using him for attention and then decided she had enough

I am old and I think ghosting is rude. That said, I don’t think it’s exclusive to women. I have heard many stories of women getting ghosted by men.

If it's a guy I barely know, I have no problem ghosting simply because I lose interest. "Just talking" is not exactly a friendship or relationship of value to me.

There nothing wrong can be for a man, but a woman might see something that a red flag for her.
Not interested anymore, probably wasn't that interested from the beginning
Also, happened to me couple times, i got distracted/reply wasn't that simple, and then i got horrible attention span and forgot. Especially if i used a messenger that is overflown with chats or that i rarely use.

Got bored of the conversation/didn't feel that excitement that maybe talking to friends or other guys gives. Found someone more interesting, just simply forgot to reply, lost interest and didn't feel like it had been long enough to tell him - just not texting would give the hint that she's not into it. Just wanted some attention, or just doesn't know how to tell someone you're not interested anymore.

A lot times what men think is a "regular, amicable conservation" isn't that. Women are taught to be polite from birth. We don't usually tell a man he is disgusting or racists or sexists, etc., unless the guy is really the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel trash and its necessary to humiliate him to get rid of him, we just cut off contact. Unfortunately, too many men refuse to understand that simple politeness is not the same as interest.

Can you elaborate on ghosting as to some people if you don't respond to a text within an hour it is ghosting, while for other it is not ghosting if you don't respond for days.

I don’t know if this is a regular thing or specific to either gender, but this does happen even if the conversation appears to be going really well and both parties are engaged and enthusiastic. Kind of feels like lovebombing. You’re convobombing. I’m not sure why a someone would ghost like that after participating so enthusiastically in the conversation but manners are optional on dating apps. What are you gonna do. I assume he or she found someone else and was just using you as a backup option. Callous stuff.

She’s not interested anymore, either because at some point she figured you’re not someone she’d want to date, or because she started dating someone else. And the length or depth of your communication wasn’t enough that she thought an explanation was necessary.

I have mixed feelings about ghosting. Generally speaking it is considered rude, but personally, I don’t see much benefit to getting some “You’re great but I’m focusing on myself right now” message. Not hearing from someone for a while tells me what I need to know just as well. I feel like sometimes, people who get really bent out of shape over ghosting (assuming this was someone they barely knew), are over-estimating the significance of the interaction. And probably also would not honestly respond any better to a rejection message.

Edit: One more possibility that can’t be ignored in this day and age is that “she” was not a real person/not who “she” claimed, depending on if you met in person or not.

From my perspective: I act nice towards a guy during a conversation trying not to upset him out of fear of his reaction to rejection, so as soon as I leave, I block that person completely out of my life.

She's just not interested in you and she does not want to deal with having to explain why, going back and forth with you while you try to convince her she's wrong, and/or she's had horrible experiences in the past with how men react when she rejects them.

Sometimes it's just losing interest or deciding someone isn't compatible. Confrontation is hard or you aren't comfortable continuing to keep in contact with someone, so ghosting. It sucks when that happens to anyone.

They are no long interested in pursuing a relationship with you and they don’t want to get dragged into a long winded conversation about why they aren’t interested and or have the guy try to change their mind. They just want to move on quickly without being put in an awkward or stressful position.

Maybe the conversation wasn’t that interesting. Maybe she didn’t think there was enough in common. That there was some initial interest doesn’t mean much.
