Being an attractive man is definitely a huge plus, but don’t think it fully protects you against disappointment and heartbreak.

I think I swiped through about 10 000 men in the span of 5 months (dunno how many matches I had, only know that according to the Tinder notification 5000 had rightswiped me) and went on four first dates. Been in a relationship for 2.5 years now.

I’ve talked to women who get 30-40 thirsty messages a day from guys on dating sites. The common complaint is its too much work to vet thru all the men.

Comes down to it just becoming “low effort” for those who receive the most interest from the opposite sex.

I guess I'm attractive to some, wouldn't call myself hot by any means but a mix of good genetics help, and I get good pictures taken of me and living in Chicago, big city like that the options are pretty damn good, now I met my current girlfriend on Hinge last year, so I don't currently have any dating apps on my phone but like I said when I'm in bigger cities it may vary by how I'm rated per City I suppose but, I wouldn't say that online dating is been a waste of time for me in terms of hookups and similar encounters, I'm not beating them away constantly or anything but pretty good

I got over 1k matches and it was similar to your friend. Guys know they are attracted and what they are looking for, women still expect you to pitch them on your lifestyle. The trick is swiping right specifically on the type of girls who would likely be into you and fitting into it.

i don't know if i count as objectively attractive (girls give me compliments online sometimes face is on my posts) but i get about 1-2 matches a day on tinder and bumble. my experience on bumble has been way better so far with higher quality people and conversations.

from tinder i met three people so far, one lead to sex, one said we're better off as friends and one I'm not sure I want to see again. Ghosting is pretty common but i did gain about 20-30 Instagram followers and a few pretty girls among them.

Last I went on Tinder was 3 years ago. I got maybe 15-20 matches a day, around 2-3 dates per week. No profile info except my university. I didn't chat online more than 1-2 days in most cases, immediately pushed for meet ups.

I took a ton of selfies and used an app called Photofeeler to let women rate them. Then used the ones rated best. Supposedly mine were regularly in the top 2% of photos on the app but I don't believe it.

I also used Tinder Gold and only swiped on women who were attractive to me and who I thought were of a similar level of attractiveness. No mass swiping.

Yep people will ghost and convos will fizzle. Consider 100+ matches per week and three of them turn into dates.

At 5'11 he is too short for most women on dating apps, who only want 6'2 at minimum. It's the 95/5 rule now. Women only want the top 5% of men, looks like he is in the top 30%, but not the top 5%.

Once used Tyler Maher pics on Tinder.

The profile got sex offers from multiple hot girls within a day. Now most girls didn't answer the messages I sent, and many ghosted.

Even with Tyler Maher it was like 80% ghosting, 10% fizzled out after 1 or 2 messages and 10% had conversations, and then maybe 30% of those were straight date setups, but all the girls knew that it was a sex invite. Tyler Mahers pics did get 99+ likes within 4 hours, so he got plenty of matches. Practically he could have had a sex with a new girl every day of the week if he wanted to.

Black Male, fairly prestigious job, went to a top university in engineering, 6 foot, 26. Large American city. I'm not great at judging male looks, but I've been called handsome by female strangers when I go out, and it's not uncommon for girls to open me on bumble by calling me handsome.

Using mostly hinge and bumble, I get a few matches a day, especially if I'm swiping frequently. Usually I can set up 2-4 dates a week, I'm swiping and messaging alot.

Anywhere from 25-75% of those dates will flake, so I'd say two dates a week is easily doable if I'm trying, especially around times of the year that new people are moving to town.

I'm fairly selective with the girls on swipe on, I usually meet up with slim and educated white, hispanic, or asian girls.

Most dates go nowhere, I'd about 1/4 to 1/3 will eventually lead to sex, although not necessarily on date one.

I wish I could find the link, but I read an article a few years ago that really, really rammed home the discrepancy. It was on one of those trendy sites like the Daily Buzzdot or whatever.
Anyway, the article topic was that both a male and female writer had to go on one date a day from a particular dating app (I think it was OKCupid) and then write about their experiences. Both the man and the woman were hip youngsters in their 20s. I'd have to say that in terms of "good stuff" on paper, the guy outranked the girl; she had some busywork administrative job like associative executive assistant or some such. The guy was the CEO of a startup. Both were good-looking and dressed well.
The woman went on her five dates and a bunch more, then said she had "narrowed it down" to like three or four guys and would continue to see them to see what developed.
The guy didn't even get enough matches to write his half of the article.

I used to go on apps years ago. I don’t now and tell everyone I know to avoid them. Conventionally attractive, blonde, blue eyed, fit, 5’7. I’d match with hot guys but they would always be weird.

Ghosted, bad conversations, fizzling, creepy, porn-sick types that can’t think of anything besides sex. When I met up with guys some showed up looking homeless or smelly. A couple were like 20-50 lbs bigger then their photos. Socially awkward and strange. Most guys on apps just ask for nudes and never intended on actually meeting so they were probably married or in a relationship. Some wanted situationships/fwb which is a immediate block. Actual genuine decent men in my location are a needle in a haystack so I just quit the apps. I don’t live in the city so it’s slim pickings . I would have to travel hours for a decent match or straight up move. They should try harder but unfortunately they are really low class. Can’t change that. Waste of time for me.

Background: 24yo man. In LTR for 2y. Before, was on apps from when i lost weight and became good looking (19) to about a year before i met my gf (21), excepting the time i was dating my college gf.

It really, REALLY varies.

I swiped on about half of the girls, and matched with about half again of the girls i swiped on. I would message first by mentioning something they had in their profile. Ex if they had a dog i asked what breed it was, if they were water skiing in a picture i asked what lake it was, if they had a unique interest i opened about that. We would talk for a bit and then I'd ask for their number. Most of them gave it, some of them ghosted at that point. Looking back on it i think i made a mistake not asking for their snap instead, most of my friends did that, but I'm not really a snapchat kind of guy and i feel that disadvantaged me.

I'd text them a bit and then ask them to come with me on friday or saturday to (X FAMOUS COLLEGE BAR @ BIG SCHOOL). I wasn't sketchy enough to line up 4 or 5 girls on the same night so when i got stood up, it was back to trying to 2 a girl to dance and make out with at the bar. Which i feel like i had more success with in the first place.

I had quite a bit of trouble getting girls back to my place after making out with them at the bar.

All in all i think out of my N = 18 overall it was 3 off of OLD, 1 (current gf) off of socials DMing, 3 in HS, and 11 from bars/clubs/barely knew before and then met up at the bar.

What i found is that OLD girls talk a big game and then get scared to meet you in person. Maybe that means i just wasn't doing it right or coming off wrong. I'm definitely open to the fact that it was my failing. But i found much more success IRL.

E: important to note most of the girls i did hook up with i hooked up with again out of convenience or laziness

Attractiveness isn't a guarantee, it just increases chances. So I'm curious what do you mean by "been ghosted", because "been ghosted once or twice" is a completely different story than "been ghosted 20 times in a row".

Fizzling doesn't have much to do with looks, I guess. Given the abundance of men in OLD a girl can just move on to the next match any time, so if a conversation isn't that exciting to begin with, it can die out quickly.

Whom he matched with also matters. For instance, if he goes for instagram models only, they're drowning in DM's anyway.

Basically my matches and inbox and likes just filled up really fast and then I met my husband and got off it pretty quickly. I assume most women have similar experiences. The only thing that did help slow it down a bit was adding my religion which was a smart move.

It's honestly so overwhelming. I usually delete my profile in 24 hours because it's hard to keep up with all the messages and then people start being mean for not replying to them all.

I usually get swarmed with crazy amounts of messages or matches.

POF and OkCupid was a fun time, mostly just really inappropriate messages. Maybe 20-30 in one day.

Tinder is fun, but I would want to pay so I can see who liked me. I don't want to have to swipe through all the guys.

Hinge (free version) and CMB have been the best so far with the quality of men. It's less matches so it's easier to message and actually get to know the guys without getting swarmed with messages/matches.

I'll bite. I'm in my late 30's, and I'm an objectively attractive guy. Women have come over and talk to me at bars and give me their number, and gay guys hit on me a lot (always a good sign). I've used OLD for a while for a number of reasons. 1. It's hard to meet people in person that I like, 2. I used to have low self confidence, and so it was easier.

It has vacillated greatly, but recently it's been its worst. I've matched with some objectively stunning women, 98% of them don't respond. If they do, it's usually 1-2 messages and then that's it. I have hundreds of matches on Hinge, OkCupid, and used to have a good number on Tinder (I don't think I'm the Tinder type, so I get less there.) As I've gotten older, I've noticed the matches I do get, are higher quality. For example, I usually match with professors, a Exec producer from a VFX studio, the lead singer of a very well known band, entrepreneurs, etc.

Honestly, I've met some great people, but the past few years it's been horrid. I have no idea if it's the apps, or if it's the algorithms, or if it's people, or covid, or fate, but I used to go out on 2-4 dates a week, and now I'm lucky if I go on one a month.

I would much rather meet people in person, but like I said, I rarely find the type of people I want to date, and if I do, they're usually in a relationship, or some other barrier like they live far away.

It sucks, because the issue isn't that I'm not attractive, or interesting (I've started multiple companies, traveled alone for months at a time, varied interests etc), I just am not meeting the right person. And the thing I keep reminding myself, it only takes one.

Generally speaking, I’ve found attractive women on dating apps to be the emotional/financial vampires. I’ve been turned off to them entirely as nothing beats a meeting someone IRL first.

It’s so tedious and frankly, not worth your time if your looking for a serious LTR.

I think I am a 7. I have 3 selfies for profile with bathroom or couch as a background and I still get plenty of matches. Sometimes with 8s. It takes a lot to get dates with 7s. So when looking for someone I am generally attracted to I get "ghosted" more often. 5s or 6s are easy but I usually look at them as backups while looking for my 7.

Being attractive doesn’t mean you have a good personality or you treat the opposite sex respectfully, and being ghosted doesn’t even mean you did something wrong, the person you’re talking to could have just decided to pursue different options. This has happened to me a few times but I try not to take it too personally.

I haven't been on apps as a woman. But I had a profile for my man for a while. I got some matches but usually girls didn't talk to me on tinder. The ones that do talk just stop responding after a while. I got bored with it pretty fast. I go for couples now.

If I had put more time in I could have got some girls, but the juice isn't worth the squeeze, it takes a really long time. And I have other things to do.

Edit: I only swiped 18-25 and skinny. I got a lot of likes from fatties. If you go for the older fat girl demographic you can get plenty with little effort.

Second guy was nice enough, but we just weren't compatible. He just didn't really havs any interest, and he got really clingy really fast.

I didn't dates to any of the ones who said crude things off the bat, or gave me creep vibes. I couldn't stay on tinder, it just made me feel bad honestly.

Dating apps are a total shit show. I've gotten dates but they're way too few and far in between to be a practical method of meeting women. Plus the last one I met said I came off much more serious through texting than I actually am in person. So there's that aspect too. You can't really convey your personality well at all.

What's annoying is most can't even seem to follow the most basic rule. If you want to talk, match. If you don't, then don't match. It's completely mind numbing. With all of the ghosting and ignoring it's just a shit show of an experience. If I could meet women in real life, I'd never bother with dating apps ever again.

Use apps for casual stuff, women who I feel like on my level just don’t match with me, have to approach them in person.

I do not get laid off these apps. Out of all the matches I’ve got this month, I’ve had sex with 1, and linked up with 3 of them. The matches I wanted the most all ghosted. And I haven’t really went through the all of the passable ones. Apps really are dogshit

I could probably sleep with 20% of all matches. But that’s probably generous, and id 100% have to peacock my ass off to get to a conversion rate that high. Counting the half of my matches that are not attractive at all.

I been low-key lurking here for a few weeks now.

I (31M, 5"10, dude in the picture) do pretty well. I definitely lean into the fact that I was a professional Muay Thai fighter and now coach (got great photo's and stories to go with it). I don't really take the whole thing too seriously and know that there's a thousand reasons why things could not work out, so its never personal for me when things end or don't work out. I focus on what's in my control and keep it moving.

I think the key though isn't to be reliant on these apps alone. Go out and live a life worth living (what YOU define as worth living) and realise that a womans interest van be extremely fickle. As much as she's into you now she can just as easily look for reasons not to wanna mess with you anymore, then what? You gotta live for you and really get in touch with who you are, then be unwavering in the boundaries that you set with people (applies to women too).

I think my looks and profession help in a primal way , but I know many a man who are better looking and taller too that lose women's interest the minute they open their mouths.

My point is, live for you and live for your passions. Making someone else your passion is doomed from the start because its so dependent on someone else.

You might even realise that you don't even want a relationship to begin with 🤷🏿‍♂️

I don't know if I'm really that attractive but I guess I am a "type" for quite some people (I'm a bisexual male).

I've only ever used tinder, and I remember never really running out of matches (though I was not a compulsive swiper), but I'd say less than 5% of them develop into something. Sometimes the conversation doesn't go anywhere, sometimes they just disappear or don't even respond back to your initial message and some times your vibes simply don't match. I've learned that some people in the app are just there out of boredom, others are just there to waste some time talking to people and not really intending to get anywhere real with it, and if you want to meet some people you gotta burn the fodder. I've never really been stood up on a date, but being ghosted and getting left on read happens more often than not.

The only women who were eager were way less attractive than him, which blows my mind - how do these women have so much confidence?

Personally, I have been ghosted but probably less than him, and honestly because I haven't actually gone on a lot of dates from apps, I can't speak to a large sample size... but it's been a mixed bag. A lot of times it was them wanting to pursue a relationship, at times us just not being a match, sometimes the guy straight up being a sexual assaulter, sometimes it just being a case of me finding they were catfishing, etc.

Im "attractive". But I never put that much effort into OLD.

I've banged a fair amount of women, 22M but never get a huge amount of matches.

I always end up matching with slightly niche or alternative girls, like shy introverts. Once we get a connection going it's pretty easy to bang. Idk how these guys are going on 2-4 dates per week though

I go on about a date every two weeks from women who I would consider 7-9. Have some dry times where I’ll go like a whole week without a match and then other days when I match like 5 9’s in a day.

Used to try and get to know the girl, but after flakes I try and get them out early. If we been texting more than 3 days and don’t want to meet I unmatch
