I have way more fun and laughs with women around than with a group of all men. Women are amazingly funny.
Most jokes have a bit of mean-spiritedness in them. Historically it has also been dangerous for women to make fun of men, but those are some of the best jokes.
Unfortunately, research shows that women may actually be harmed by using humor at work.
We can't win, so might as well have some laughs in our own space.

It took me a while to realize a lot of men's humor in hs/college was basically shit they stole from movies and standup. They all end up having the same "brand" of funny and once you realize that it's formulaic the funny drops dead. Not to generalize, but at least most women I know don't watch as much standup so their humor comes from their personal experiences + wit and it's much more fresh and funny to me.

This is fascinating. I suspect that funny women are not as appreciated as funny men in general. Not that women are less funny, but people don't like it when women are funny. I think that Hollywood specifically encourages unfunny female standups and pushes them to succeed in spite of their lack of talent. The result of this is that very few people watch or like these female standups, and it creates a narrative that "women aren't funny." Then you get two camps of people—those who are "feminist" and feel that they have to support these terrible standups even though they aren't funny, and those who use it as an excuse to dog on women. This supports a "divide and conquer" approach to society, making us easier to control by the elites and politicians. It's just a cog in the machine of cultural Marxism.

Did you hear about Joe Rogan's friend who wouldn't let women perform a comedy set without giving him a blowjob? I think the reality of the situation is that stand-up is a highly competitive industry which tends to attract people who have mental health issues & personality disorders. I think the entertainment industry likes and promotes women comics who adopt typical male comic humour; i.e. cursing, vulgarity, bodily functions, ethnic put-downs, etc. instead of women comics with a more sophisticated sense of humour. I will never forget the time during first days of college when this guy in my music class tried to mansplain to me how to play the guitar telling me how chords work and where to place my fingers etc. mind you this guys a drummer. I asked him how long he'd been playing guitar and to my shock he just casually goes "oh only a couple of years, you?" I proceed to tell him that Ive been playing since I was 5 and that im also classically trained. The way he quickly opted to go to the bathroom after that was hilarious, never approached me again after that day.

Slightly off topic but I’m watching the newest season of amazing race and in the first challenge they had to learn how to play a drum and these two guys just kept calling their instructor beautiful, made several comments, it was just so annoying and cringey. This lady was just trying to help them. No one else did this, they were all appreciative of the help, but the other 10 teams were thankful but not creepy. Anyway... they got eliminated so I’m glad I don’t have to witness how they would keep treating all the women they came in contact with for the rest of the show 😂.

This. I have done this with complete strangers and men I know well. What I hope will happen is that my stare will convey the inappropriateness of what they have just said or done, and that it can prompt some introspection. It usually at least serves to disarm the aggression that they were acting within. Unfortunately though I think most times it just causes them to think they're dealing with another dumb woman. I'm remembering one incident specifically where I was checking in to a campground that advertised a jacuzzi. I even called beforehand to confirm that the jacuzzi was open, was told yes; awesome! So of course, when I got there, I was told it was out of order and had been for at least a week. I said something like, "Oh, I was really looking forward to using it, bummer!" A large man who had walked in to the office (I mention his size because he towered over me. I'm 5'8 180 pounds) stood over me, and in very stern voice said, "It's hot! Why would you want to use it?" Lots of answers to that question: because I'm paying for it, because I have herniated discs in my back, because I'm going to be tired after driving three hours to get here, and tired after setting up camp...but mostly, because I wanted to. He didn't have any response at all to my stare. But the stance he assumed said to me that he was ready for a fight. That moment has stuck with me as a prime example of how a man will assume that, regardless of the amount of information that is available to him, he will automatically assume a position of authority and right, and will attempt to assert that belief over any woman who would challenge it, however mild the challenge might be, and even when it's a paying customer with a reasonable expectation set by the business to begin with. He used his size too to try and challenge my disappointment. The stare is a move I've developed out of fear probably, and out sheer perplexion.

I'm finishing my undergraduate in Psychology. I've been to multiple psychologists and psychiatrists. My dad's a doctor. One day this guy I was talking to goes, "So my friend was prescribed some pills. But only psychiatrists can do that. I don't know if you know the difference between psychologists and psychiatrists". I laughed and said "of course I do, I'm finishing my psych degree and I go to the psychiatrist" and he was like "oh". (Context: I'd told him this before, I guess he forgot amidst the mansplaining.) The amount of people in general who they they’re just as educated on a topic and know just as much as someone who holds a multiple degrees in that topic annoys me so much! Yes- universities aren’t the only place to get an education, and you don’t need a degree to have an opinion or some good understanding of something, but reading pop culture articles, a Netflix documentary and a handful of YouTube video is not the equivalent of 6+ years of formal education! One time I was in town, grabbing something, was with a gay male friend.
You know those annoying sales people, who harass you to sell you stuff? There was this one, he was really pushy and annoying. So I decided to bite.
Turns out, he was trying to sell a credit debit card. This was before these were really widespread, so I pretended not to understand. How can it be a credit card, if you use your own money? A credit card is loan money you pay back. If there’s no credit, isn’t it just a debit card?
This went around in circles a few times, the guy was getting really frustrated, and eventually, my friend grabbed my arm, and pulled me away. “I’ll explain it to her!”
We get around the corner, and he just says “God damn. That was hilarious! Darling don’t ever change”.
See, I’m often oblivious to body language, tone of voice, etc., except when I’m not. I’m possibly autistic.
Turns out the guy looked like he was about to scream or hit me. My friend nearly collapsed from trying not to laugh. He had to get me away from the guy before one of those happened.
So yes, can confirm. And it’s hilarious.
Also, selling guy explained it really badly. But he stopped being pushy.

I always unconsciously go into scarastic asshole mode. I start being over the top by saying, "Wow, gee golly tell me more sensei." And "omg, how do you know all of these things, oh great one." A guy I was dating was in a pool with me one day and I asked him what swim strokes he knew how to do and whether he had ever had formal swim lessons. He begins to answer with the chest stroke and then goes on to explain its education. I began boiling internally and snapped at him “I know. I was a lifeguard, remember? And I was in the Marine Corps” and he was like “oh...well I don’t know how much you learn about swimming in lifeguard training”. One time when I asked the guy to grab a butter knife for me, he was like “these aren’t butter knives”. Dude was apparently trying to figure out what the opposite of an aphrodisiac by getting technical and showing off his knowledge about cutlery at one of the stupidest times. If I want a butter knife, just grab the one that is closest to what you think I want - no need to try to turn it into a learning opportunity. Better yet, just don’t.
A couple of my male friends also are plagued by mansplaining at times. When I vent to one, he’ll start to talk about my problem as if he were in my shoes and I told him it comes off like he thinks he’s in the one-up position and like he’s trying to give unsolicited advice. He’s a good guy and said he really appreciate me being honest with him and explaining it since he genuinely didn’t get it.
Another friend of mine has been struggling a lot with dating and he happens to be in the same kind of graduate program as me, which is currently going through this rigorous application process. I have previously asked him direct questions like “how many sites are you applying to?” And instead of answering the question, he’ll go on to give me information that I’m pretty sure eeeeeeveryone in our program knows, like that we need to apply to 15/16 for the best chance to match and blah blah blah instead of just telling me the number he has. At times it comes off like he thinks he’s more responsible than me or thinks he is better informed, but I haven’t confronted him about it yet since he historically only texts and I prefer to do confrontations when someone can actually hear me. But I’m beginning to think that this could be part of why he struggles to date - men trying to show off their knowledge without solicitation is such a turn off.

This is probably the best way to respond when a guy makes an inappropriate or sexist joke, especially in front of other people. Just say "I'm afraid I don't understand. Could you explain?' Then watch as he gets increasingly awkward trying to explain himself while revealing how gross and depraved the comment was.
