Rationally I understand different couples have different boundaries. However I have such a visceral disgust looking at this that I cannot think of it as anything except disrespectful. I would never in a million years do this to my man.

In fact, I would rather shove a cactus slathered in hot sauce into each of my eyeballs before making a sign like this.

I think what makes it worse is the fact that it’s so public. Sometimes my bf and I will be watching a movie and he’ll say “So-and-so looks so fine” and I’ll agree. But I’m also laying next to him in our bed, not in public, and he is not advertising that he’d leave me.

To me, it’s disrespectful and not funny. The husband is almost certainly in on the joke, but who knows if he actually finds humor in it or not. I feel like a lot of times people feel pressured to “be a good sport” about jokes at their expense. Maybe they’re both just annoying and like attention, who knows.

Disrespectful in my view, but then as someone who has been casually watching the NFL since I was a child, sports fans will put all kinds of crazy shit on a sign to be on TV for like 10 seconds. And clearly this woman succeeded and the player in question has facilitated giving her exactly the attention she was looking for.

It isn't even something dumb that she said under the emotion or something. She put some time and energy into that sign and decided to hold it on national TV.

And it's not even a joke to begin with, the "funny" element into this is the "look at my dumb dumb husband, is right there and he's ok with me holding this sign", which is highly disrespectful.

Saying things like "hey, you know i would dump you for this hot guy if he was ok with it?" Or "hey, you know I can beat the shit out of you if I don't like the way you behave?" Are no jokes, no matter how many" just kidding" you add. Those are treats, aiming to shift the power in a relationship.

Somewhere in between. It’s a joke that left its humor at home but I’m not running to the divorce attorney either. Instead of overreacting over a sense of “disrespect,” I think a well-timed pointed “joke” about how you’d leave your wife for Sidney Sweeney some time in the near future would set things straight. Not right after she shows the sign because that’ll make you look butthurt. But in passing after enough time has passed as if you just assumed that making those kinds of jokes is okay in the marriage.

For example, what if a guy was at a Dua Lipa concert holding a sign, next to his wife, that read, "Dua, I just got married, but I’d leave my wife for you! P.S. she’s right here"?

Just as wrong, but honestly? In that case I can envision many comments, from this very sub and elsewhere, calling the guy a based Chad and the wife a controlling bitch if she showed any discomfort.
