One thing that has always struck me as a double standard is how differently male and female attraction is judged.

Most people accept that men naturally enjoy looking at attractive women. If a man openly lusts after a beautiful woman, follows models online, or even does so while in a relationship, the response is often, "What do you expect? He's a guy." Male sexual attraction is treated as normal, expected, and even inevitable.

Yet women are often judged far more harshly for expressing physical attraction. If a woman says a man is extremely attractive, she's more likely to be called shallow, accused of ignoring her morals, or told she'd abandon her standards if a hot enough man came along. Those assumptions are often made with little or no evidence beyond the fact that she finds him attractive.

Finding someone physically attractive is not the same thing as lacking values. Men are generally allowed to separate lust from character, but women are frequently denied that same distinction. If we accept that men can appreciate beauty without it defining their entire moral compass, then women deserve the same courtesy. Physical attraction is a normal part of being human, not evidence that someone's principles disappear the moment an attractive person walks into the room.
